Expelled from Eden: A WTV Reader, edited by Michael Hemmingson and Larry McCaffery, is an above average Reader, including as it does much material not collected elsewhere in book form. Essential for background knowledge about Bill and his books.

Please read and Like Geoff's review of Expelled from Eden ::http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
The volume itself is to be had for very little $$$, according to my sources. Recommended.
Love it, but the spine fell apart on mine in fairly short order, dang it. That whole Springsteen analogy thing in McCaffery's intro is wild.
Friend Jeff Bursey has a review of Expelled and Poor People at the electronic book review, "'A realm forever beyond reach': William Vollmann's Expelled from Eden and Poor People". Get there by visiting and Liking his review found :: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Don't miss the bibliography at the end ;; there's at least one link there we don't have at Central, plus a number of other nuggets some of you might want to track down.
Okay, here's one of those links ::
"Tome Improvement: William T. Vollmann's Real World" by James Gibbons at Bookforum ; a review of Expelled and Europe Central :: http://www.bookforum.com/archive/sum_...
What didn't make it into Expelled, and I hadn't heard of before JK brought to my attention, is Vollmann's Afterword to Simenon's Dirty Snow. And it is available online :: http://assets.nybooks.com/media/doc/2...
Nathan "N.R." wrote: "Vollmann's Afterword to Simenon's Dirty Snow."Drawing attention to the link which is located in the immediately preceding comment.
[also, any future such items -- introductions, etc by Bill -- should go in the Uncollected Vollmann thread. We'll keep this thread just for the Expelled (Part I?) materials.]
biblioklept posted an image from Expelled from Eden, Vollmann's Writers Manifesto of sorts ::1. We should never write without feeling

Thanks. That led me down a windy road of some other biblioklept Vollmann material, which I enjoyed.

Came across this review during a bout with insomnia last night…I don't think it is listed here. Have not read this book yet, and have only gotten through about half of the review, but…wow. If you are looking for some Vollmann-Bashing, Dan Schneider is your man. One of many examples:"..as someone who actually grew up amidst the drug and sex trade industries, having led a Goodfellas-type youth, I am uniquely qualified to call bullshit on Vollmann’s claims and writings on these topics, for they are paper-thin in reality, and larded with stereotypes and myths about both industries."
Yep. It goes on and on.
