Right now your teen librarian is reading Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. This book got starred reviews in all of the book review journals, so I'm pretty excited. It's fantasy with a little Russian flare. So far it's pretty good!

What is everyone reading right now? Right now I'm working my way through The Diviners by Libba Bray. The book is a little slow going (the book is rather long!) but it's pretty interesting so far. Love the 1920's setting.

I'm also almost finished with The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde. If you have enjoyed books by authors like Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, you'll probably like this one too!

I'm reading 13 reasons why and so far it is really good :)

I'm currently reading "Kiss & Make Up" The plot is flimsy, but I needed a break from super in depth, major focus required books like 19 Minutes (by Jodi Picoult)

Your librarian has been reading nothing but sequels lately. I recently finished Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor and Shades of Earth by Beth Revis. Both books were great!

I'm also eager to get to The Friday Society, which is next on my stack at home. This book promises to feature strong female character in a steampunk society.

What did you think of this one, Sarah? I read this one some time ago and really enjoyed it.

Well nobody has sad anything in 2 months so i'm breaking the awkward silence. I am currently reading Life of Pi Most of the time I finish a book pretty quickly but this one is taking up a lot of my time. For example, I'll sit down with this book for maybe 30 minutes and only read 10 pages. It really makes you think but it's taking forever to finish.

I just finished Persepolis 2: The Story of a Return. It's really good! Thanks for giving it to me Sandy!

I finished it too. O_O I'm also reading Skylark, which is sort of confusing but it's really good.

Good job Susy! The second book was my favorite of the two, but they were both really awesome. I'm also reading Shades of Earth which is the 3rd book in the Across the Universe trilogy. It's really good, but extremely unpredictable which is something i'm not used to, and I like that!

I'm also still pushing through Life of Pi but I can only read it for so long, it's one of those books you just need a break from sometimes.

I keep meaning to request Shades of Earth! I don't quite remember everything from the first two, so I'll have to pick them up on our weekly library trip. :)

I just finished Shades of Earth, and it was amazing. It's definitely my favorite book in the trilogy! I'm still slowly pushing through Life of Pi (that ending had better be worth it) Hopefully I'll be able to finish up Life of Pi soon so I can move on with my life.

I was checking off some books I've read, and saw that the next book in Julie Kagawa's series The call of the Forgotten has a name! And a cover! The Iron Traitor. I want this book, like, right now. :) Does anyone else read Julie Kagawa?

Actually I have never heard of her, but The Iron Fey series sounds like a really interesting series. I'll have to add that to my list of books to read in the summer :)

(I'm still reading Life of Pi. Sigh.)

and I have a nice mixture of genres, but i'm always looking for more graphic novels and steampunk to read!

I'm currently working on Where Things Come Back which I am still a little undecided about. This summer I should finish the Seven Realms series, which is very long and fantasy everywhere so I am taking a little break before the next 500ish page book in the series. I'm looking forward too finding a good historical fiction book this summer. Any suggestions?

Leah, we have lots of great historical fiction to try! If you haven't read it yet, you should check out Code Name Verity, which is about two girls who become friends during WWII - one is a spy, and the other a pilot. At the beginning of the story the spy gets captured by the Nazis and is held prisoner. It's an intense story, and it's probably one of the best books I've ever read.

A few other titles to consider:

A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly
Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson

That sounds really interesting, especially since i've been reading a lot of steampunk lately.
I just started reading "Beneath A Meth Moon" and i'm slightly disappointed because the book starts out during the main character's addiction and I was hoping for some more background information. The character is slowly dropping hints, but I guess I need to be patient.

Books like that can be fun but it depends on how well the character is portrayed and if the plot can pull itself along (which is more difficult if there isn't much background information) but I'm sure soon enough it'll all be explained ^.^ and E&E is really steampunk, it's a great start so far!

I just started the fourth book of the Percy Jackson series- Battle of the Labyrinth. I love this series so much! My sister got me into them, she was reading them and told me to read them too. I have been addicted to this series ever since!! :P

Hi I'm new to the group but I thought I would post something....I'm reading Frost Burned by: Pathricia Briggs. So far it's good but im only on page 10 so a lot could change from now to the end of the book. :P

Welcome to the group, Kiara! Can you tell us a little bit about Frost Burned? Is it a fantasy read? I'm not familiar with this book, but I always love learning about new things to read.

It is a book were the every day world is twisted into the world of fey, werewolves, vampires, and myths made real. The book is about a girl shape shifter known as Mercy Thompson and she going to have to face her worst fear as her world is thrown into chaos.

I just kinda realized this is book 7 in the series and I have not read any of the previous books...oops.

I am currently reading Hole in My Life by Jack Gantos. It's basically a biography of the author, Jack Gantos' life when he was at his lowest point. It explores what it was like for him in prison and how he got there. I find it fascinating, which is surprising to me because I don't particularly like non-fiction, and I don't especially like biographies, but it's a really interesting book that helps you remember that everybody has a story and everybody has a past.

I'm currently reading Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi. I finally started this book for the summer book club. It seams pretty good so far and I'm on chapter 7! :) I can't wait to read more!

Right now I'm reading Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian. It's the first book in the Burn for Burn Trilogy, and it's got me hooked. Basically it's about 3 girls who all want revenge on a different person, and they work together to make it happen. The book switches off between the points of view of the 3 girls, so it's kind of interesting :)

I'm reading "Black Butler Vo. 5". by Yana Toboso. I just started it today and I love it :). I'm trying to finish the series!

I loved reading that series, even though it's ongoing I skipped over to the anime because I was impatient waiting for the next book :). I especially loved the art style, something about that era in England is just so appealing. (The character development is also done extremely well)
For manga, i'm currently working my way through two series': Blue Exorcist, Vol. 1(i'm on volume 7) and Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 01(i'm on volume 5) they're both really good. As you can tell I really like manga and graphic novels :)

This librarian just finished two fun books that you guys might enjoy:

The first was Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt. After catching her boyfriend cheating on her online, the main character decides that her life would be a lot better if she lived more simply, the way that did in the 1960s when her grandmother was young. The main character is a little self-absorbed, but let's face it - we are all a little self-absorbed.

I also read Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne. This is gritty survival story. After a series of natural disasters and a chemical spill, 14 kids are forced to take shelter together in an abandoned superstore. This book is an intense page-turner!

I just finished Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men". It was a thoughtful book, and the needing was a little haunting.

Monument 14 sounds great. Is it a must read or just very good?

I'd say that if you enjoy gritty page-turners or survival stories, then Monument 14 is definitely a must-read. I loved the pacing and the intensity. But a word of warning: There were two scenes in this book with some relatively graphic sexual content. These scenes are relatively important to the story, but they did take me by surprise. You can decide for yourself how comfortable you are with this sort of content.

I am re-reading the Hunger Games series it is an awesome series. Great for people who like suspense and action.

Now that everyone's back to school... What have you all been reading? I just finished Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, and it was fantastic. Great blend of romance and tragedy set in the 1980s. I'm excited to get my hands of the author's lastest book, Fangirl next.

I just started Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children...creepy photos, strange events

Since I started high school I haven't had time to do much of anything besides school work, but i've tried to not completely neglect my reading. I just recently finished up My Sister's Keeper, because I picked up a copy from goodwill (how could I say no to $1.89 for a hardcover copy?) and it's just as amazing as everyone says. Jodi Picoult has an amazing talent for writing endings. Right now, I am currently reading Eon: Dragoneye Reborn which I've heard really good things about so I'm excited to continue reading it.

I just finished another great contemporary read, The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider. The writing was fantastic, the characters were interesting, and the twist at the end of the book truly surprised me.

I am reading The Hunger Games

I'm really excited about a book that I recently took home, Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein. This author also wrote Code Name Verity, which is one of my favorite books of all time. Rose Under Fire is a companion novel. So excited to see how this one measures up!
