Let me explain the title. Our theme for December (No, I'm not going to do a Christmas theme. Way cliché) is either cyberpunk or steampunk.

Steampunk, if you don't already know what it is, is basically a story that takes place in a fictional era where steam-powered machinery and clockwork are big plot factors. A lot of people incorporate a sort of Victorian element to it too. Just Wiki it, and I'm sure you'll get the hang of it (surprisingly, I know a lot of people who have never even heard of steampunk O_O).

Cyberpunk is more technologically advanced. A lot of computerized technology and stuff. Remember Ghost in the Shell? That's probably the best example I can think of that portrays cyberpunk. It's definitely very futuristic, most likely involves robotics and whatnot.

So now that I have thoroughly and unecessarily described December's theme, you can nominate some steam/cyber punk books you'd like the group to read! Have funnn:)

there are so many wonderful steampunk books! I could fill pages:)

for anyone who's not acquainted with cyberpunk: if you know the science fiction of William Gibson, that's cyberpunk; he's sort of considered the founder of...

For me Steampunk (which is probably my favourite sub-sub-genre next to Horror (which is a genre, I know) is my favourite era-Victorian-gone Steam-ish and Clockwork-ish and Automaton-ish! What's not to love??

Lisa Roark | 14 comments I've never heard of cyberpunk, but I think this fits in with that theme: How about "Matched" by Ally Condie?

Jennifer Kelley (bksgoddess) I highly recommend the Leviathan series. This was great! The Girl in the Steel Corset was also very good, but the sequel was just okay imho.
