Is this anything like 50 shades of grey?

50 shades is my obsession. But since I have ended the trilogy for the second time I am looking for some good books in the same genre as 50 shades but nothing that's the same exact story line just with dif people and settings. This book caught my eye but I just want some opinions from people who have read both series of books before I buy.

I loved Gabriels Inferno/Rapture way better than 50 shades. It thankfully is not similar but is like the books since it is a romantic story. I think it was more deeply romantic than 50! It is written in the 3rd person though while 50 is written in the 1st. That took me a minute to get used to, but that way you get the view point of more characters. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a good romantic tale :)
This book is wonderful, i have read it twice its no where close to 50 shades of gray but it is very romantic and it does have some heart break in it. they do work it all out in the end, and dont be to hard on gabriel about the way he acts toward julia. its a must read book.
I just finished these books. I can tell you I was informed that if I liked FSoG that I would like these. Here is what I concluded:
These two books are absolutely nothing like FSoG. It is a romance with conflict and academia. It's not a cheesy romance like the Harliquin novels, and it is very well written. It takes some getting use to though. The writer switches between each character and sometimes it takes a minute to figure out which one it is. I'm not sure that there will be more than the two that are out. I've not heard rumors about it nor have I seen anything to say there will be. It has a few steamy scenes but they aren't as descriptive as FSoG. I really loved this story, and didn't compare it to FSoG while reading it at all. The characters are very well developed.

It is a breathtakingly written love story that warms your heart.
50 shades is nothing compared to it. In fact, I would not even leave 50 shades Grey in the vicinity of Gabriel :)!
Gabriel's inferno does not have BDSM or dominance or control. It, however, has reverence and worship and love, all wrapped into a conflicted character.

I loved 50 shades and love Christian...but Gabriel! HOLY HELL!! Where 50 shades starts out with sex, Gabriel's Inferno doesn't get sexual until the end of the first book/beginning of the 2nd.
The love story in Gabriel's trilogy is just beautiful and being from Toronto, I loved the references (yes Harbour 60 is a real restaurant!)
I read the full trilogy and if you're not looking for the BDSM or control freak billionaires, you will love this as much as I do! Prof Gabriel Emerson is my new man now...his love for his "Beatrice" and the lengths he will go to to protect her and what they share...he beats Christian, Gideon and Damien in my books!
I also love how they have a history. Don't get me wrong...I'm all for the "love at first sight" but how realistic is that?! Not everyone is lucky enough to experience that and I think that's why I liked Gabriel's trilogy...it seemed a little more realistic to me...of course that's just my humble opinion!
I hope you do read it and come back so we can discuss! Let's see if you fall for the Professor the way I did! ;-)
Happy Reading!!

Yes, its almost the exact same thing!
both have a physiologically disturbed hero with a very tragic past; a innocent and sweet, almost angel like heroin; a heroin's best friend whom the hero is jealous of; an ex of the hero whom the heroin is jealous of and hates; the hero has a great family who love the heroine.....need i say more?
The only difference is that i did not hate Gabriel's Inferno and Gabriel's Rapture, infact i loved it, its one of my favorite stories now, where as FSG had waaaayyy too many sex scenes and was written horribly, i mean it was a great story, E.L. James just kinda killed it with too much unimportant love making; heck, i didn't even read it all and just skimmed and still got what happened!

Many people are comparing this book with " 50 shades of grey" ... ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!????? i can write a whole book about how it is very wrong to compare such romance, desire, and intelligence with... that!!
it has nothing ,NOTHING like 50 shit of grey ...

This was an excellent read (both books actually) and is nothing like 50 shades, IMO. Some parts were very emotional and made me cry. Their backstory was very touching. Definitely worth the read.
I liked FSoG I LOVED Gabriel's Inferno... it touched me emotionally more then any bok has before or since. I can not say enough good things about it.
Gabriel's Inferno/Rupture are much better written books than Fifty Shades of Gray. Not even close as Terry wrote. AGREED.....
Well written but I would never call Gabriel's Inferno erotic. If book two continues on with whats-her-name on a pedestal and Gabriel waxing on and on about how perfect she is, I'll call it quits. It's like the author (a male) is feeding women what they want to hear. Such high hopes for it, hope book two is better!
I really like this series no matter what people say. It's a package; you'll learn something about Dante and Beatrice and stories in English lit, you'll get shivers with every scene (yay!!!!! <3) and gosh, Gabriel's just perfect! hahaha it's worth the read!
*people should stop comparing other erotic books to 50 shades. ugh it's frustrating!*

A great range of comments about the differences between FSOG & Gabriel's Inferno ... What it comes down to is that FSOG is a page turner because of its obsessive, overly graphic sex. This is heightened by the fact that it's told in 1st person, present tense - it's like you're Anna! GI, on the other hand, is a love-story. The intimacy between the two characters is described sensitively; rather than being erotic, it's sensual. SR writes beautiful prose and superimposes them onto an academic landscape - which is no mean feat. My only criticism of both books is that the female character are too weak, considering how intelligent they are. Anna gives in too quickly and Julia cries at the drop of a hat - or should I say a beret! If you want a combo of the two TouchStone for play is published later this month. It has the romance and the eroticism all wrapped up in The Story of Us , a three part trilogy. You might want to take a look ... SJ
I don't think that 50 Shades and Gabriel's Inferno series can be compared. 50 Shades was a good series but Gabriel's series is so much better. It's poetry, the way Sylvain writes! To me nothing can compare!
You can hardly find anything exactly like 50 shades of grey but check out this one:
50 books like 50 Shades Of Grey http://www.xxchromosomes.com/2014/01/...

This book is NOTHING like 50 shades. I regret waiting my time on it just wishing and hoping it would get better but it never did.... If ur looking for a 50 shades I totally recommend 'bared to you by Silvia day it was amazing and dirty by Megan heart" there are plenty others if u want more ill give u a list but nooooo not this one!
I'm a romantic soul... this book is sooooo beautiful writen. When you read thru it you can fill they're love for each other. I love Gabriel, his style, his character...everything. I couldnt stop reading... I very much recommend this 3 books.
I loved 50 shades and have this trilliogy on my to read list so happy to read all these positive views!
Totally different. To be honest I liked Gabriel's inferno better. I think the whole more depth or something. Definitely a favorite. At least I knew who Beatrice was by the time I read Dan Brown's Inferno
I thought this was very different in every way compared to Fifty Shades of Grey. You fall in love with the characters right away and its beautifully written. I did have to honestly look up a few references as I had to know what they were talking about to picture it in my head. This is a book I would recommend in a heatbeat.
FSOG is about wild sex that turns to love. Gabriel's Inferno is about wild love that turns into sex. Regarding the latter series, I have never read anything so hot as a man who completely worships his wife's body. It's the difference between panty dropping and panty immolation.
I've only read the first so far and it is nothing like 50. I liked it and intend to finish the series, but I wasn't really into all the Dante/Beatrice stuff. Where 50 was a quick sex driven read that turned into a Pretty Woman type of BDSM fairytale (ie, never going to happen IRL) Gabriel was more focused on the angst of missed opportunities/misunderstandings featuring classical literature references and was balanced by the sweetness of Gabriel trying to protect her by "behaving" himself. (Which mostly added to the angst, but not in a juvenile way). I wouldn't say its better than 50, but it is better written. Not really my cup of tea, but not "bad". I do think the next book is probably better, but I can't confirm that yet.

I actually didn't like this book. I loved 50 shades, but aren't we all bored with people trying to recreate it? I actually didn't read past about a third of it. I didn't like the way it was written and found myself skipping huge unnecessary sections.
Sorry, just my opinion.

As an avid lover of contemporary romance, I decided to start writing a book 2 years ago.
An alpha male with a heart and baggage, this book is the first in a series of three.
When Manhattan royalty, Ian Sanders, meets bright-eyed chef Ella Scott, who has the power to reduce his intellectual abilities to alarming proportions, their lives are sprinkled with sexy liaisons, a pinch of hope, along with a dollop of tragic, life-changing consequences
A new chapter on wattpad every 2 weeks.
Would love for you all to read & follow. Your comments and feedback are welcome with open arms:)

I love Gabriel´s series and for me it´s better than 50 shades.
OK, NO!
I liked 50 shades but I enjoyed this story a lot more. It has less sex and more romance. Its beautifully written and absolutely sensual. I also read this book after I read 50 shades and was looking for something similar but not the exact same story....and I wasn't disappointed. I absolutely loved it! : )
different from FSOG- I really like this alot :)) will -read this again and again
I loved this book! it had hot scenes but I would never compare it to 50 shades. I'm glad I read these books and I don't think you'll be disappointed as long as you go in with the right expectations.
after reading 50 shades I've been on a reading frenzy trying to find the next great book. These are some suggestions of the books I've enjoyed the most since fsog
on Doublin Street by Samantha Young .... very hot alpha male and great sex scenes
If I Were You by Lisa Rene Jones ... this one has a bdsm hint, but it's not too graphic. I really enjoyed the mystery surrounding the story .. I can't wait to read the next one which comes out in February
I've read most of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward and those are HOT too.

This is nothing like 50 Shades! Nothing at all, not even on the same level. This is way more tame and actually a believable romance.
This is too tame compare to 50 Shades specifically the sexuality content. But its a good romance reading material. Greatly written. EL James and Sylvian Reynard have their own unique style in writing. Of course, it cannot beat the popularity 50 Shades had generated. :)
It isn't like 50 Shades at all. The books are definitely worth reading.
Well, they both began as Twilight fanfiction. And I wasn't able to read either of them past the first chapter when they were on ff.net
So in that regard, yes.
So in that regard, yes.
I loved this book.. Nothing like 50 Shades. It is a book in which you fall in love with the Characters. It is a love story. It shows the depths one will go to not only protect the one they love but the depths of that love and how they overcome obstacles from their pasts and try to move forward in the future.
The writing is great and being from Toronto I loved the references made to the city! :-)
I will admit this is my all time favorite book. Bought the two together as I knew I would finish it in a hurry. Can not wait for the 3rd installment.
I would recommend not only this book but the 2nd in the series.
I loved them so much I am buying them for a friend for her birthday..
I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did.

I am a devote Fifty fan. I read the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day after reading Fifty because people likened the two. While Gabriel's is not like Fifty I would liken it more to Fifty than Crossfire. Mainly because I felt so deeply for Fifty. It evoked true emotions from me for the characters, Ana and Christian. Gabriel's has done the same and I am only 50% in the first book. The emotional depth of this story is unmistakable and I feel for Julianne and Gabriel just as I did for Ana and Christian. The love story in this book is amazing, there are so many layers to it. I would almost call it deeper than Fifty. I am sure you will enjoy it.
Third installment?!?!?! What?!?!?! Please....tell me more!!!
These books were incredible. Absolutely no comparison to 50. This was so well written, with a story line that makes you re-appreciate the classic story of Dante and Beatrice.

Not even remotely like 50. Honestly, I read both Gabriel books but once was plenty. Didn't really do it for me. A bit too lovey dovey.
This book is NOT anything like 50 Shades. I found it difficult to believe at times, because the most beautiful things anyone could say (coming from a man) were spoken in this book...and sometimes it's just not believable! But it was a VERY good series to read. I can't wait for the third book to come out, to finish the story. I recommend purchasing both, because you will want to read them together. It's awesome! Happy reading!
I loved this book and the Gabriel's Rapture as well. I recommeded it to a few people at work and they fell in love with it to. There is so much story to it and it's wonderfully written. I adore Gabriel and can't wait for the 3rd book. It's nothing like 50 shades in my opinion, the book is amazing, I couldn't stop reading!
I love Gabriel! This is such a beautifully written book and so poetic. Not bdsm content but you do get a troubled hot professor who is unbelievably romantic. Cannot wait til the 3rd instalment, and very impressive to be so romantically written by a man!
This book does not even close to 50 shades! 50 shades is a sex/love story, many sex! These 2 books does not even compare to 50! It is a love story with a past!
Get ready for a new obsession. It's much different than 50 Shades-- not even close. Beautifully written with characters that you care about. A deeply sensuous love story and a lot more.
NO! It's written by an actual writer.
However, I loved Christian and Ana's love story.
Gabriels inferno and Rapture are better written; different topic altogether.

Well I can see why some see the ressemblance with Fifty shades ... A tormented, beautiful rich, with a very dark past and a love for pain and control heroe,a young innocent and virgin willing to see the goodness in him and take him to the light ... However, both book and story are really different. And I found Gabriel and Julia a little bit deeper and also more developped than Christian and Ana (but that doesn't mean that I didn't like these too either, it was just different).
And I don't know why but by reading GI I could feel that it was written by a man and not a woman (Maybe because it was all about tension and seduction between the characters ... until the final) Can't wait to read Gabriel's Rapture ans I'm exited that there also will be a third book !
