Is there something we could be doing better? Want a new folder (category) added? Something else? Post it here & we'll see what we can do.

I'd like to see a folder or category called "Current Project" or "Show and Tell", where people can describe their current project either underway or completed.. and hopefully they might post a photo in the photo section for me to go "ooh, ahh.. how'd you do that!?!. One rule, NO negative feedback please, just encouragement!!!My two cents... though my current "project" is a model car and while fun not worth posting.
Interesting idea, but does it need a folder? The folders are arranged more by type of craft. How about a topic or use one of the existing topics to talk about it, even the General - Chat one? There wasn't a folder for 'Other Crafts', but there is now & it has a model topic. Is that OK? If not, make a new topic in the general folder.
Let's see if we can do something as a group! I suggest a holiday contest based on the current group book on making things with paper. How about inviting the members to make a holiday decoration! (Ok.not all of us celebrate the same holiday... we can be diverse!)I suggest keeping things simple, ie: members can only use a single piece of 8 x 11 paper or cardstock, with no limits on decorating with paint, markers, etc.
What do you think? (you'd be the judge!)
Sounds like an interesting challenge. I don't want to judge it, though. No prizes anyway, although I wouldn't mind donating a bowl. What about just doing it & we all post a picture, just see what turns up? That could be fun. Anyone else interested?
I might actually be able to enter something in that... and in the home improvement department, I'm your basic squirrel looking for a nut. No Utilitarian Training..okay the anagram didn't work. But I'm with you.
Gee, I'm just not feeling the love for the idea of a contest.... maybe a better first group project would be finding a craft book we can all make fun of...
What about a thread for 'Goals/Projects for 2013' ... I don't do New Year's resolutions anymore, haven't for years as they always end up falling by the wayside. A separate folder for the year's projects might be interesting ... the goals ... and updates on how the projects are progressing through the year?

I like that idea. Don't we all have projects we've started and haven't finished or just new projects we would like to start in 2013?
What a fabulous idea! I'm all for it... I could use the encouragement and it would be fascinating to learn what other crafters/DIYers.
Mat brought up restoration & we don't have any "Antiques" anywhere. Should they be one topic or two? Under Miscellaneous?
Of course. I created under Miscellaneous Crafts. I guess it could have gone under Art or even Metalwork, but it can cover so many mediums...http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
Hey Jim, do we have a rule or a process for adding books to the bookshelf? I've been learning how to do mudding and taping and have found this book:
To be helpful. My husband has been doing most of the teaching but we both refer to this book for info on tools and techniques.
My understanding is if you find a book valuable thats relevent, go for it! Taping is an art that gets messed up too often, and if you have found a book that helps people understand the basics thats great.(OK, I shouldn't laugh when people point to their rough taping job and then say the mud was too thick... read the instructions on the bucket (add water and stir) I can see where a book might help temnendously to give a person some idea of how properly mixed mud feels and which side of the taping knife to use.
thanks Foxtower. I will go ahead and add it.The book has way more in it than I need (basic taping and mudding) but if a person needs to learn skill for doing specialty jobs like curved walls its all there, in addition to several chapters on actually hanging drywall.
I have found that mudding is kind of tricky and fun too. I go for different viscosity's depending on what coat it is. At the very end its watered down so much that I get mud everywhere but it is way easier to get a nice finish.
No rule, Laura, just thanks! Please tell us about your project, too. I created a topic for it under Home Repair.http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
