Steve | 3 comments Major spoilers!

I am going nuts trying to figure out what this book is named.

Long involved book where main character and his friend are in college. He has a book or codex that his dead father had puzzled over for years. Book contains many puzzles of classic or ancient origin that need to be solved. Goes into a lot of detail regarding individual clues they are researching, which gives a lot of history.

It turns out that one of their professors had known the father, possibly arranged his death. The book turns out to be the key to the storage place of a bunch of ancient treasures that were due to be destroyed by some ruler, possibly of the Church.

The climax of the story was where his friend appears to be killed in a fire on the campus, but then the main character gets a communication that shows the friend is still alive and that their puzzling over the mysteries had not been in vain.

Steve | 3 comments Yes! Absolutely. I am amazed you came up with it so quickly.

I had listened to it on audiobook and wanted to listen to it again, I found all of the historical references to be very interesting. Apparently a lot of people hated it... :)

Thank you, D, I really appreciate it!

Darcy (drokka) | 211 comments I'm glad I could help. I don't read a lot of these types of books but it had been recommended by several people, more for the historical stuff than for the rest. I quite liked it, but the people I know who like theses kind of pieced mysteries (à la Da Vinci Code) weren't as fond of it. So, for that reason alone, I remeber it vividly. Heh

Steve | 3 comments Amazing how quickly I got the answer. I spent at least an hour looking for it on the internet just today. I'll pick it up at the library tomorrow!

Thanks again!
