As long as the publication date is clearly stated on the book's main page and fits the task and you get it verified for length in the eBook verification thread, sure.

Hi Kristi - I have a few ARCs of books that will published next year (2013). If I read them this year, would they still count for this task?

They will as long as the expected publish date is on the book's GRs page (they usually are).

Thanks Kristi. I think this book must have had a pub date that was pushed back because some editions had a 2012 pub date but I checked Amazon and the Publisher's and it shows the book as coming out on Jan 1st (I included the link to the publisher's website in my post.)
