When I was younger I used to read Little House on the Prairie with my grandmom ALL the time, I loved it so much I'd read it over and over again. It was the first book that I ever remember enjoying reading. After that I was hooked. Adventure with a hint of romance (or more) has always been a catcher with me, with a necessity of happily ever after (I don't believe I ever outgrew that need in a book!).
What really got me reading, and writing, was the Nancy Drew Mystery series. I started reading Hardy Boys, Dana Sisters and every other similar mystery I could get my hands on. And, I decided to become a writer.I became a newspaper reporter for many years. And then I did desktop publishing and freelancing. Now I have decided to finally write a mystery series. The first book is out as an ebook. Lost in the Woods: A Bible Camp Mystery
It was fun to write and it shares my faith.

I have the same beginning as Anna. I had gotten the box set of all the Little House on the Prairie books from my grandmother. When I finished those, she started my collection of Trixie Belden Mysteries. From there I branched out into the Flowers in the Attic series. I still have my box set of Little House books, and had hoped my girls would like them, but it doesn't look like they will.
hi y'allthe twilight movie actually got me to really start reading I know it sounds really dumb but after I saw the first movie and I found out there was books based on it I read twilight and the rest is history lol.....I have been readying since I think maybe 2008 or 2009 whenever the movie came
The book that got me into reading is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. i really hated reading when i was a kid..my mom wanted me to get into reading habit but she failed..and then my aunt had gifted me this book, and then i was hooked...now i can't sleep without reading... :DI am so grateful that i got into reading...changed my life :))
The book that made me want to read so bad was "Dragon Rider" by Cornelia Funke :) I mean, I did read before but only because of those weekly school visits to the library, not because I really wanted to. Cornelia's book was like a window to this world of books that I love so much. I guess I also read it for that great escape-feeling you get. I had chicken pox when I first read it and so it really took my mind off my fever and itchiness. It was almost like a painkiller in some ways and a friend in other ways since my real-life friends could barely visit me when I was sick. :')
I read a book in the library at my school and I kind of forgot the title. It was about a kids, hotel and crows. It was captivating and that started my reading addiction. :)

Not dumb at all. I think it's great!
A book that I found in the library. I actually forgot about the title already. But it was really good.
I always say that Harry Potter was the reason I read so much, I read when I was little but not a whole lot when it came out. As for the library, I recently re-discovered it lol. I realized I didn't have to spend all this ridiculous amounts of money on great and new books when I had a library down the streets. I think people out of high school always forget it's there or something like that.
Totally agree about the library. I was totally into it and then I was dragged into the world of buying them, but now I read many books from the library. I love owning them, but sometimes they're a bit expensive.

If it's an author I love I tend to go out and buy it but I never realized how much I spent on books til I went back to the library and spent next to nothing!

That is the same with me! I saw the movie and found out there was a book and read it, then I read the rest in the series, then I started getting more and more books and now I have to many! Lol
But if I reread them I don't think I would like them as much because I have read more books that I think are better. :)
I started loving reading in like 5th grade but didn't actually read the twilight series until like 6th or 7th, but they definitely got me reading more.
I read alot of animal adventure books and books in the goosebumps series when I was a kid, but I think the first author that really made me understand just how much I liked to read was Dean Koontz, who I discovered during 8th grade. After I read one of his books I was hooked, and fifteen years later reading is still my favorite thing to do! :D
omg Harry and Mudge in third grade! although, I ALWAYS loved reading! so, berstein bears, Clifford, the Magic Tree House books, I just always loved reading.
The books that really got me into reading and writing are Charlotte's Web and Where the Red Fern Grows.Michelle :)

That doesn't sound dumb at all! The Twilight books actually got me to submit my first novel to a publisher because I found out Stephenie Meyer and I had so much in common. I thought...if she can write a book so can I! Of course, I'm still waiting for the five movie deal (six if you count the Host).

The Harry Potter books. My mom read the first three books to me and my brothers, but then she told me that if I wanted to read the rest I had to read them alone because they would be too scary for my brothers (they were really young). So I read the series and haven't stopped ever since. Of course, I was reading books before then, but HP really got me into it

The last few Harry Potter books were very dark for a young reader audience. They were great, but I was in my late teens when they came out.

I think the first YA book that I decided to read on my own was
and that got me into reading other YA books.
THE ARCANA CHRONICLES! it was my FIRST and FAVOURITE book that I got at the start of this year. Its different and its just perfect. Its still my favourite :)
I wasnt really into reading until 3rd of 4th grade when I read the lightning thief and that got me hooked.
Goosebumps first and then Harry Potter, also Junie B Jones series :) she was the funniest 6 year old ever and she was so sassy and direct.
In elementary school it was The Warriors series by Erin Hunter and the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. After that I stopped reading as much but then I read The Hunger Games and Divergent and those are what got me into young adult and dystopians. :)
Harry Potter and The Hunger Games seem to be the two that hear everyone my age say got them back into reading as a teenager/YA!
