It won't be out in 2013. I've been following the movie's official facebook page. I don't know where IMDb got that release date from when zero progress has been made on the VA movie so far. There's no studio for the film yet, no script has been written, no actors have been cast, and there's no director yet. The film rights were purchased like two years ago but nothing has happened yet.

I'm starting to lose hope that the movie will ever happen. The rights were purchased like two years ago and, aside from the producers mentioning a couple times on facebook earlier this year that they were close to finishing a deal with a studio, nothing has happened with the movie. I assume whatever deal they were talking about fell through since there's still no word about them finding a studio to take on the film.

I guess the plus side about this is with a movie there's always the risk of it not turning out the way the readers want. It's easier to envision the story and the characters the way we see them when there isn't a movie version showing us something different.

Fair point, sometimes they really wreck characters with movies. Ohwells for the time being i've got my own movie version in my head :)

I know I finally went to see breaking dawn yesterday and in the trailers all my (fave) books are being turned into movies haha (beautiful creatures, mortal instruments, the host and hopefully VA) I was soooo excited apparently I need to watch more tv and less videos games because I missed all this!

I'm really looking forward to seeing The Mortal Instruments and The Host. I haven't read Beautiful Creatures, but if it's being turned into a movie that makes me interested in reading the series.

Any Darkfever fans here? The movie rights for that series were also bought. It has an IMDb board already.

IDMB have still got it listed as coming out next year 2013.and on the richelle mead website it is saying next year. I really hope it does come out as vampire academy is amazing. Every character in the books are so cool and amazing. I'm so looking forward to the host next year if any you have read the book it is at first long winded but once you get halfway through it' it is a excellent story. Also house of night is supposed to being made into a film next year.

I'm not gonna get my hopes up because I've been hearing this for a while but I really do hope that they make the movie soon & I hope that they don't miss up on the characters

Yeah, I'd not get my hopes up. I mean, we've all heard rumours like these for ages. Even if they start putting together the movie next year (about time), it could still be a looooooooooong while until we see a movie.

I agree. No, it'll probably be that they might get their act together and start putting a movie together next year. If they do do that, we might have a movie 2014.

I love Phoebe Tonkin! I'd really love for her to play Rose. I'm a bit indifferent towards Dianna Agron, I don't really like anything she's been in.
Alot of people are going for Ben Barnes, I like him but I have a feeling if he's offered the role he'll refuse. If he accepts, he might need to buff up a little, lol.

Finally! I am like crying because I am so happy :D

I love it that the movie production is finally moving. But I'm so sad! No Ben Barnes for Dimitri...the most anticipated casting I've waited for years gone down the drain just like that. :(

The cast so far is amazing. Danila is perfect for Dimitri because he's actually Russian and I hated the idea of Ben Barnes anyway so I'm happy :)

Danila is a pleasant surprise, finally a cast that fits the bill :)
