It is the year four thousand twenty seven. A barren Wasteland that used to be a prosperous society, know as Earth. Earth was ravaged by Human corruption. Civilization was destroyed and in its place a new world was formed. The human race has kept some of its precious technology, which it uses to protect itself from the other things.
The only weapons that they have are primeval weapons such as swords, bows and knives. However they have a form of magic based on energy. The ruins of the past still stand and they are used for shelter by many.
However the humans are not the only ones in the Realm. Colonists from other worlds came to this world, but were left to die by their planets. Some of these colonists include the now secluded races of the Elven, the Dwarves, and the Faeries. They now fight each other for this world as their last hope. Other beasts far worse than anything anyone could ever have imagined spawned from genetic failures scientists thought would die. Monsters from the deepest of nightmares roam the world satisfying their hunger with what remains.
One beast, The Darkness, said to be the pure form of evil roams the world destroying everything. Anyone that has ever faced the creature has died a horrible death, having their soul sucked from their body. An Evil Emperor has declared himself leader of all things. He keeps The Darkness at bay with sacrifices. The world is in ruins and is a desolate place. Yet somehow the morals of man somehow survive. Can the world be saved from Evil in its purest form?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

All around me was darkness, surrounding my very being. The only thing that softened the darkness was the clang of metal as I fought no matter what the cost. The sword collided with something soft and there was a squeal of pain, almost causing me to pity the creature. Then I remembered what it had done to them. I let out a mighty yell would have inspired any man to face a million if only for the sake of hope. I knew that if I could not destroy this beast everything was for nothing, all their deaths meaning less.
I swung out with rage and despair. As the last of the dark lifted I collapsed to the ground clutching my chest. The last thing I saw was wisps of the dreaded dark reforming. All the energy I could muster went into the one word “No.”

CHAPTER 1
The shout of the sentry was barely audible before the crowd turned into a mass of flailing limbs. “Zerstörer ru-” A giant explosion rocked the northwest corner of camp destroying the guard towers in a blazing storm of fire. As I started toward my tent, I saw husbands rushing to protect their wives and mothers protecting their children. As the shadow of the Zerstörer fell over the field it made me halt in my progress as I realized the sheer size of the beast.
Once the shadow flitted away I was released from fear and was able to continue. Through row after row of tents I kept hoping I would make it in time. Just as my tent came into view I was slammed to the ground by something very heavy. Once I rolled over I realized with a groan that it was one of the shadow clan. As always the shadow clan followed and sometimes rode the Zerstörers.
She barely had time to open her mouth before a giant explosion rocked the earth, and a metal pole, from a tent nearby, slammed into her chest breaking her ribs and puncturing her lungs. When I tried to stand up I realized the explosion had robbed me of my hearing and my balance. I had to stand there for a few minutes as I regained my balance.
I used that time to check my wards for my ring, because sometimes people could accidently destroy their things if they accidently used all energy within an object. All things living and non-living have a certain amount of energy within them, more energy can be stored in them but if all of it is used the item either disappears or disintegrate.
It wasn’t too long before I was able to continue on my way toward my tent and as I neared the tent I saw that the pole had come from a tent just a ways away. I was lucky that my tent hadn’t been destroyed by whatever caused the explosion. As I was gathering my sword, book of spells and the book Vrasia I finally regained my hearing. What I heard wasn’t as satisfying as the sensation of sound returning. I heard the screams of frightened children and echoes of far off explosions. As I was about to rush into the street I remembered to retrieve my Krilver.
When I slipped it over my neck I was enchanted by the bright red ruby surrounded by shining plated gold. Once it slipped over my neck I at once felt a slight chill overcome my body. Even though I have used a krilver for over twenty years I still couldn’t get used to the fact that it completely hid my heat signature. The reason this helps during a Zerstörer attack was that they hunted by heat, therefore you mostly found them out at night because the sun interferes with their heat readings.
While I slipped through the flaps of my tent I thought I heard the sound of ripping flesh. I hadn’t misheard; it was a Himmeltier which stopped me in my tracks. As I studied the animal waiting for a chance to get by unnoticed it glanced up from the carcass it was eating. In that one moment everything was silent and all there was in the world was me and it. In its one eye could see the terror from all its victims and the beast’s relentless attacks.
I drew my sword hoping to be able to fend it off but it threw itself at me before it was fully out of its sheath. Just as its jaws were about to close on me, the Himmeltier stopped in midair just inches from my face. I thought that time had stopped or I was seeing everything in slow-motion. When I thought I had finally lost it I saw the glimmer of metal from inside its maw. It was then that I realized that it hadn’t stopped in midair someone had stabbed it. It was then that I saw my friend Drake.
“Took you long enough!” I told him in a joking manner
“Janine couldn’t find her krilver, and was freaking out.” Drake replied a grin spreading across his face
“Why’d you let it get so damn close? I thought I was gone for good.”
“I had to let you try and kill it I’m not goanna be around forever.”
“You could have at least let me know you were there!” I stated motioning for us to start towards the town center
“But that would’ve taken all the fun out of it.”
As we started towards town I started to become a little worried about Liz and Barty. They should’ve joined up with us already his mind told him. As a fireball rained down from the sky we raced to a nearby building for shelter. When we reached the building and turned to watch the fireball I felt the metal tip of a knife on the nape of my neck. With an inward groan I realized we had walked straight into a trap.
“If you try anything we’ll kill your friend here.” One of our captors said apparently talking to me.
“Oh don’t worry about that. You’ve got the upper hand here.” I stated while slowly slipping my dagger out of its sheath.
“Nathan?” one of the others said.
“Yes, how’d you know my name?”
“Aw hell, let em go fang I know these blokes”
It seemed as if one of the men had gotten our safety, because the daggers were removed from our necks. I turned around slowly to find that the man who saved us was my half brother Dan. Without saying a word he and his friends became one with the shadows again letting us go.
Continuing on our way to the middle of town where we’d be most needed we started to find battle scared people limping in the other direction warning us to run. However, Drake and I were experienced in Zerstörer attacks. We had fought alongside the legions of men who tried to combat the Emperor’s men. Those battles during the Great War seemed like they happened years ago when they had really only taken place a few months ago.
As we reached the middle of camp we found that the battle wasn’t going our way. The men from our fighting forces were surrounded in two different locations. As we were about to enter the combat the nearest enemy soldier collapsed with an arrow through his heart. Drake and I looked up in surprise to find Liz and Bart standing on top of a nearby ruin. They were sniping out soldiers with their bows.
A wave of relief washed over me, they hadn’t gotten killed. This relief was short lived however because at that moment I saw a fireball flying at them. I tried to get their attention but my voice was masked by the sounds of the fighting. I tried to get to them but I was jostled around by the many bodies. At last I got to them, but I was too late. The fireball hit the ground just feet from Bart, throwing him across the ruin. I immediately rushed over to Bart, but Liz made it there before me.
As she saw what he looked like she gasped in utter horror at how badly he was burned. As she tried to heal him I became enraged. I looked across the battle trying to locate the source of the fireball. When I finally found the source I charged at the surrounding soldiers. Not caring if they were surrendering or not, killing everything I could get my hands on. Most of the soldiers stopped and watched in awe at how I fought.
Once I had killed the men responsible for hurting my friend I started to charge after the rest of them when some of my own men held me back.
“There retreating Nathan. Let them go.”
Once I calmed down I remembered Liz. She had been trying to heal him, but had it worked? I ran to where they were; seeing Liz in tears I knew something was wrong because I had never seen her cry. She was always the strong type who could deal with anything.
“Oh Nathan,” she said while sobbing uncontrollably “I tried, I really did but he wouldn’t… wouldn’t “
“Wouldn’t what Liz”
“He wouldn’t come back.”
“What” I said not as a question but as an expression of disbelief
“He’s dead Nathan, and it’s all my fault.”
Right then I knew that I couldn’t break down; I had to be strong for Liz.
“It’s not your fault. It’s the fault of those horrid soldiers.” I said to her trying to lend support
“Before he died he told me to tell you something.”
“What, what was it?”
“He said. Kill those bastards Nate, kill them for me.”
Right then I knew that I could never go back to my life before today. I would have to travel the land and kill the source of all this world’s problems. I would have to kill the darkness. I would have to travel across the desert and bring together the people who have hated each other for generations.
I would have to travel to the kingdoms of the Elves, Dwarves, The people of Faerie, and I’d have to find the one known as the outsider; the only one who could possibly keep the darkness at bay if weakened enough.

CHAPTER 2
What had I let happen? If I had only gotten my sword I could’ve made it back in time to save him. No. Then it would’ve been someone else.
I tried to push these thoughts out of my mind as I made my way through camp checking on the repairs. As I walked I saw the damage that had been wrought by the battle. All over the ground I saw thousands of bodies not just the enemies but our own. These sights put me over the edge and I sat down and wept among the rubble.
Not long after I sat down I felt someone slide a comforting arm around my shoulders. I looked up to find that Liz had somehow managed to find me, and was hugging me not just to comfort me but to also comfort herself.
“There was nothing we could have done Nathan, and you know that.”
“But what if I had been there sooner then he would still be alive.”
“No, no he wouldn’t, because we would still have been up there using our bows and you wouldn’t have seen it coming.”
“But-”
“But nothing he died a warrior’s death.”
After that we just sat there for a while. Going back and forth between silences filled with extreme sadness and remorse, and a time of happiness filled with remembrance and laughter(this isnt all of it it's not lettin me past mor
