werewolf - i need somethings to read!
I have about 50 werewolf books I've rated 5 stars of roughly 400 werewolf books. Here's the link, maybe you'll find something you like.http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/...
A few series' that really stand out:
How about Shelly Laurenston's Magnus Pack and her Pride series. There are a lot of different shifters, including wolves, and none of the females (even the human ones) take a backseat to anyone. Sissy has to be the definition of an alpha female wolf.
Sandra J wrote: "How about Shelly Laurenston's Magnus Pack and her Pride series. All females there? *shake head* One hell of a badass. ;)
Does it have to be werewolves or just shifters in general? If you haven't read the Mercedes Thompson series, I'd totally recommend that for you. She (Mercedes) is no werewolf but can shift into coyote form. However, there are loads of other werewolves (including the love interest).
The romance is okay, not bad actually, but the author focuses on the plot. Still, a fun read.
Then there is a spinoff series to the above. It's called Alpha & Omega. I really loved those - the plot is good and the romance is awesome - everyone's a werewolf!
Also, I loved the Kate Daniels series. She ain't no shifter whatsoever, but she darn sure is kick ass. The love interest, however, is a shifter. The romance is quite good too, slow building but I enjoyed it. However, don't expect steamy bed scenes. It's totally YA.
You might also try the Tale of Lunarmorte series. That's MOSTLY about werewolves.
I haven't finished the series but am half-way through and enjoyed it so far. The heroine(s) are no pushover. The romance is not disappointing.
I know we're not supposed to self promote outside the folder, but you MUST check out my book if you love werewolves! Everything you want in a werewolf book you'll find in mine XDPREDATOR GIRL
You might also check out Shiver by Maggie Steifvater. Wasn't my personal favorite, but i have girlfriends that loved it.
Shifters series by Rachel Vincent is awesome! There are 6 and they are all out. They aren't wolves but large cats but the girl is one of them too and she's tough, loved her and the romance is spread out through the whole series. One of my fave shifter series for sure!
If you don't DEMAND wolves, then might I suggest The Jargoon Pard series by Andre Norton. The mc in this is actually--um, well--not sure what you'd call him. Except that he turns into this totally rocking were-cat creature.
I will second the alpha omega series
by Patricia Briggs and her Mercy Thompson series
. I liked Rachel Vincent Shifter series
too although her heroin is not may favorite but she gets more assertive as the series progresses. I was not a fan of
.
There are SOOOO many werewolf books, ILOVEDAMON, cab you be a bit more specific about what you are looking for?
Ann aka Iftcan wrote: "If you don't DEMAND wolves, then might I suggest The Jargoon Pard series by Andre Norton. The mc in this is actually--um, well--not sure what you'd call him. Except that he turns into this totally..."Oooh, good one! And don't forget
for the hero's parents' story. The were riders take different forms, though the hero is a large cat of some sort. The heroine is a fledgling witch and no shrinking violet. Anna, I think you and I may be the only ones around who have read Andre Norton. The others just don't know what they're missing.

I know Sandra--and sooo many of the "modern" writers say that they got started by reading her as youngsters/teens.
Her works really ARE great--and I have an entire wall of nothing BUT her works. (And yes, as a really BIG fangirl--I DO have the game that is based on Witch World.)

I have the most awesome Werewolf story that is like no other, however it is still in the critique stages and am having editing issues with so many editors wanting me to change elements that would so totally ruin the book, especially since it has three other books in the series. I wish I could recommend one that isn't already cookie-cutter, and know you'd love my interesting take on the tale, but, sadly, you'll have to wait for it. Keep your eyes out for "Loves Wolfsong!" by Lisa Hannah Wells.

totalle agree with Shireen, Kresley Cole's Lykae are amazing and I would also recommend Kelley Armstrong's werewolf series starting with Bitten (sorry it won't let me post the links from where I am). If you are looking for a shorter read my werewolf novella Alpha Chase has received some lovely reviews!

My favorite werewolf romance of the year was
. It's the beginning of a new series and I love the two main characters.
Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series...great stories with romance... though it is one of those slow build romances.
Shari Kay wrote: "Sandra J wrote: "Ann aka Iftcan wrote: "If you don't DEMAND wolves, then might I suggest The Jargoon Pard series by Andre Norton. The mc in this is actually--um, well--not sure what you'd call him...."The Witch World series starts with
. I ended up getting into the Witch World books through
and had no trouble understanding the world. It's set in the Dales which probably explains my fondness for that setting in her novels. Your chances of finding her books in a bookstore are iffy at best. I have noticed, though, that several of her books are in my local used bookstore. Some of her novels are available as ebooks, and some of her short stories are free (These are set in her sci-fi universe). That may be a way to see if her writing appeals to you.
These are all wolf-shifter series, or include wolf-shifters. Forgive me if some of them have been mentioned.Changeling by Dani Harper
Psy-Changeling by Nalini-Singh (feline and wolf-shifters)
Heart of the Wolf by Terry Spear
The Eternal Wolf Clan by Stephanie Tyler
ShariKay--you can also try ebay, PaperbackSwap.com and thrift stores. I have an entire wall (floor to ceiling) of nothing but Andre's books. But I have multiple copies of many of them, simply because I LOVE the older covers.
I mean, those are ALL the same book--but if you just looked at the cover's you'd never realize it. And you can, to a certain extent, guess what decade they were released in, just by looking at those covers.
But in addition to having the multiple covers, Andre just wrote a LOT of books. The Witch World novels alone number into the 30's. And then you have the Beast Lord series (5 books, if I'm remembering right) and yes, when they made that horrible movie--and tv series--it CLAIMED to be based on Andre's books, but, except for the fact that the main character could meld his mind with his animals, and see through their eyes, and, of course, the title, there is no other resemblence. Andre's books are sci-fi, set in the future--FAR in the future. And the Solar Queen series--I think that ran to 6 or 7 books. The Dipple series of books (a very loose collection that have only the name of the ghetto that the main characters come from in common) is at, I believe 5.
And there are other series--the Forerunners series, again, not really a "true" series, except for the whole thing about the Forerunners (who were the intelligent species who preceded us into space, and who we find bits and pieces of their cast-offs.)
And she has a LOT of stand-alone books.
are a few. And as you can tell from just these 3--sci fi, fantasy and historical.
And then she has a few duos and trios that I haven't even mentioned.
Um, can anyone tell that I'm a somewhat obsessive fan? :o) Sorry, will get off my "Norton Soapbox" now and return you all to your regularily scheduled reading now.

How about S. Kenyon's dark hunter series...there are some shape shifting yummy wolves etc...?
Blackwell's Timberwolves series is good - light on the romance since it's YA but the story is great
Vaughn's Kitty Norville series starts out slow but she gets stronger as the series progresses.
If it can be any shifter - Christine Feehan has a Leopard series that is really good. The wolf ones I know of have already been given to you.
Sandra J wrote: "How about Shelly Laurenston's Magnus Pack and her Pride series. I love her, she's my fav author b/c of the way she incorporates humor into her books to make you LOL & still has the excitement & romance too. I think Pack Challenge is by far the slowest (though I still liked it) out of all her books, but they certainly pick up after it. I really love how Shelly carries the Magnus Pack series characters over into her Pride series & how so many of the different shifter species intermarry. Luv luv her books.
Magnus Pack series:
Pride series:
Keri wrote: "Sandra J wrote: "How about Shelly Laurenston's Magnus Pack and her Pride series. Caryn Moya Block has a series about Siberian wolves. It's pretty good.Alpha's Mate
A Siberian Werewolf in London
My Mate's Embrace
Crimson Moon is one of my favorite werewolf books. I've only read the first one, but The Heat is good too.
Not sure if anyone mentioned Anne Rice's new offering, "The Wolf Gift". Haven't read it myself, but knowing her, it is bound to have romance. Also, hate to shill, but I did just publish a PNR about werewolves. It is posted in the Self Promotion folder.
Full Moon RisingRiley Jenson Series is complete and worth the read.
Patricia Briggs has 2 series that are good were series.
And I'm sure that all of us fans of Patty are counting down til March 5, when the new Mercy book comes out. I know that I'll be sitting at the door waiting on the UPS man to arrive.
Wolf shifters are my favorite so I would like to endorse all of the Patricia Briggs books, Terry Spear's series, and Nancy Gideon's shifter series. They are all fantastic. I have only read one of Shelly Laurenstons books but I gave it 5 stars and am looking forward to reading more of them. If you are not dead set on wolf shifters the Rachel Vincent Shifters series is great too.
"Lobisón" is my latest release with two sequels to come, each beginning where the previous book ends. These are not your "Twilight" werewolves...these are gigantic biped beasts striving to preserve their bloodline while a relentless hunter tracks them all over the world trying to destroy them. There's no normal werewolf theme to this story…no protagonist that’s bitten by a werewolf and turns into one himself…no fear of the full moon…no fear he will kill his love interest…and only a silver bullet can kill the beasts."Lobisón" is all about a relentless tracker, JACKSON KELLER, who is the lone survivor of a vicious werewolf pack slaughter of his platoon of Marines, and the frightening “road” he traverses for 28-years to kill the entire pack, especially the gigantic Alpha he nicknames “POPPA”.

Does anyone know if Kaitlyn O'Connor has a website? I've checked Facebook & googled her name. Anyone out there can help me?
I recently finished the second installment of the Crimson Series
and am really loving it. The story focuses mostly on the werewolves but it has vampires, witches and warlocks. The supernaturals in this book have a very unique relationship compared to other books. And there's also the Timber Wolves Trilogy
and
the entire series is free and can be found on Smashwords.

Totally with you on Mercy Thompson and the spin-off Alpha and Omega series.
Have you tried Gayla Drummond's Moon Children series, or Deadlands Hunt?
(Full disclosure, I edited the most recent of the Moon Children books.)
;)
I agree with Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater and Fate Succumbs by Tammy Blackwell. Those are really good books.I didn't see these mentioned, but if they were, my bad!
