message 11: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amandamay83) | 9 comments Oh, this is a hard one to pick from! So many good ideas! I'm going to pick just two...I don't want to over-commit!

3. Read a book in a genre that is outside of what you normally read
I pick, "The Hobbit." A friend has been trying to convince me to read it and I've completely written it off as "not my thing." But, in the spirit of a challenge, I'll give it a whirl.

6. Should auld acquaintance be forgot: Read an old childhood favorite
"A Tree Grows in Brooklyn." I've been thinking for a while that I'd like to re-read this, but I've been putting it off. It seems like when I re-read books from my childhood, they're nowhere as good as I remember and I'm left disappointed and disillusioned. I've been told that this one stands up over time, though. I'll give it a try!

message 12: by Candiss (new)

Candiss (tantara) | 996 comments Amanda wrote: "I'm going to pick just two...I don't want to over-commit!..."

I know what you mean! That's why I only take the books I know I'm already reading (for group reads and such) and see how they can be fit in to the tasks. The only one I added was the Goodreads nomination selection, because I don't read enough modern poetry, and my library has this title. :)

2. Should auld acquaintance be forgot: Read an old childhood favorite

The Giver by Lois Lowry

3. Read a book that is first in a series
The Maze Runner by James Dashner

message 15: by Nathan (new)

Nathan (nthnlwly) I told myself that 2013 I would read books and then fit them into challenges, instead of reading books *for* challenges, if you know what I mean... Now I just want to go for them all!! haha, but I won't! I will go for 2 and maybe increase if I read a book that fits another category. :)
