What do you prefer? What are you favorite good? Bad?

D: I think it's so sad when in books, the dragons are the baddies :( Dragons are so much better than humans most of the time!

Probably for that reason, one of the only bad dragons I've read about is Smaug in , and I think he's probably my favourite. Although ... Vollys is a pretty close second, from

Sorry it took me so long, after I said I was going to do it I forgot. Then I reread your post yesterday and imediately put this up.

I am pretty much of the same opinion. The only difference is that I are really good at being the bad guys classically. They make great villians or obstacles. However, I don't like to read about these guys as much. I am big on character in books and I love to see friendship blossom. Therefore I prefer the good dragons because wouldn't it be nice to have a dragon as your best friend. That would be awesome!!! Not to mention that there are those dragon books were the dragon are neutral, niether good nor bad.
As for whom is my favorite I can't think of a bad guy at the moment. But my favorite good dragons are definitely Temeraire from the Temeraire series by Naomi Mobil and Loiosh from the Vlad Taltos series by Steven Brust. If I think of more later I will post them!

Mmm ... yeah ... like Vollys in The Two Princesses of Bamarre ... I never quite knew whether she was 'good' or 'bad'. But then, what do we really mean when we say good and bad? xD

The Dragonking in Guards Guards is my favourite baddy dragon because he strips out all that is good about humanity (he's been created by humans) and is very, very cold-hearted. Good dragons? There are too many to choose from!

Hmm ... Your reply made me think! Haha. I do like it when dragons are intelligent enough to make their own decision about whether or not they are 'good' or 'bad'.

I would rather prefer the neutral dragons, those who wouldn't care for what's going to happened to either side. They'll just step up in the fight when they know their kind is in great danger or the balance broken.

Mmm ... I was thinking that we can't really call dragons 'good' or 'bad' ... if we're imagining intellegent creatures. I mean, are humans 'good' or 'bad'? Niether! Every one is different! I think if we're talking about thinking, speaking creatures, the answer should be niether.

Agreed, all characters, including dragons should be neutral if they want to catch my attention. I find the bad dragons, even being bad ass, to be poor characters usually. I need more than just an explanation of it is there nature. And if they are good dragons I find it hard to believe that dragons would inherintally good. Dragons are suppose to be vain, proud, and powerful. I don't see how those connect. Not that I don't accept them any dragon, I just enjoy good dragons over bad ones and I enjoy neutral dragons even more so. One great example of this is His Majesty's Dragon were dragons are just as multi- layered as humans ans there is no real good and bad spectrum.

I think I am of the same mind! Underdogs or misunderstood dragons sound like the perfect dragon to me.

Hmmmmmm...........THIS subject is what made me cringe when someone told me about my dragons from Dragons and Cicadas. Holy lord, they made me cry! I'll say I like the dragons that are like humans: good and bad. When I made my dragons, I made sure to make them layered by making good and bad dragons, dragons that act like animals (wild), dragons that are scientists for the greater good, dragons that are immune to corruption, dragons that are tainted and become psycho, etc....but all the while keeping that dragony flavor.

On the subject of bad dragons: when writing 'em, I make sure my bad dragons have a reason for being bad (Chance, for example, suffered a lot of sexual abuse in a city full of pedophilic aristocrats).

For Ashuton, he suffered much torture and that has made him a good and bad dragon (good for being kind to others, bad for starting a war with humanity to liberate his children).

On the subject of good dragons: the good ones are just what they are: good. Nothing much I can say.
