Kol reaches the edge of the beach and looks out over it, the part he's on seems releatively empty, the way he likes it best.

Eventually, Belle popped out near the beach. She groaned in frustration. She was now officially lost.

Kol walks out further onto the beach, the sun is already begginning to set, the red light covers the water, it makes him think that the sun is bleeding, dying, all over the ocean. And we call it beautiful.

Belle was transfixed by the sun. She pulled out her camera, a Polaroid that had the picture pop out at the bottom, and aimed.

Kol didnt stop until he was at the edge of the ocean, his beat up leather jacket protected him from the slight wind. The water laped up to his black boots.

Belle leaned forward to get a better picture, and being the clumsy person she was, she fell in the water. Luckily, her camera fell safely on the sand before she toppled over.

Kol moves over to a big rock half in the water and climbs to sit on it.

Anna and her posse clad in skimpy bikinis strutted out onto the beach.

Belle surfaced, sputtering.

Anna spotted Kol sitting on the rock. She smiled broadly, like a cat that had just gotten the canary. "Heeeyyyy!" she called.

Kol looks up from his book to see a few girls in bikini's, it's then he also hears a noise rather like someone falling over, he looks over a taller rock and see's Belle, he puts his book down and runs over to her, he takes Belle's hand and pulls her up.

Belle grabbed at whoever had helped her up. "Thanks," she said breathlessly. She couldn't swim, and the very idea of being in water frightened her.

Anna clenched her jaw. That scrawny bitch , she thought.

Kol pulled Belle out and then swept her up in his arms, he carried her over to hte brock and set her down, 'are you right Belle?' he asks, concerned.

Belle nodded dully. "Thanks, Kol," she said again, taking deep breaths.

Anna was being assured by her posse that she was much pretty than Belle or anyone else.

Kol stood between her legs and and touches her arm gently, she's wet, he pulls off his leather jacket and drapes it over her shoulders.

Belle shivered violently. "Doesn't water ruin leather?" she asked. "I think I read that once."

Kol laughed at that, 'my beat up jacket has been through many rainstorms Be, i think it will live with your attack on it' he smiles suprisingly widely.

Belle warmed up slowly. "You sure?" she asked.

'No im not damn it take it off now, how dare you accept my help' jokes Kol, he pushes some wet hair behind her ear. Over her sholulder he can see the other girls on the beach, he reconises them vaguely.

Anna and her followers marched up the beach over to Belle and Kol. "Hay, Belle," she said, sugary sweet. It almost gave Belle a cavity.

Kol can sense both Annna's fake nicness and Belle's discomfort, he wonders why. Kol looks Anna up and down, she is very beautiful, but there is something underneath, it interests him.

Anna smirked at Kol. It was obvious he was checking her out. "What happened, Bella?" she asked with innocence. "Swimming mishap?"

Belle ducked her head. "Nothing," she said softly.

Kol looks back at Belle her strangely beguiling face that had once held so much light and life is now dimmed, Kol frowns slightly. 'Belle, I think you did rather well, you had me on hand to help at least, the shot you were going for must have been a good one' he smiles at her and touches her face lightly then pulls it away again.

Anna narrowed her eyes. "That's our Bella," she said condescendingly. "So clumsy."


Belle felt her cheeks flame.

'I'd say more passionate about her photos if anything' says Kol with a glance at Anna, he crosses his arms over his broad chest and quirks an eyebrow at Belle, a smile just or her on his lips.

Belle glanced up at Anna, then quickly looked back down. "Why are you down her, Anna?" She purposely said it wrong.

Anna cleared her throat. "That's AH-NAH, Bella." She flipped her hair. "I'm tanning. Not all of us are hideously dark like you." Belle was only a little tan; considered pale back home.

Kol clears his throat and smiles at Belle in what he hopes is an encouraging way, it's been a long time since he's actual tried to be friendly. Kol also looks at Anna, his calculating gaze that usually made people uncomfortable sweeping over her once again, she seemed to dislike Belle and again Kol wondered why, people were rarely mean without purpose. It was the that Kol heard a familiar voice shout out 'Night, aren't you supposed to be working', Kol's grip tightens noticeably.

Merlin strides out over the beach, his gaze locked on Kol, a wave if hatred floods over Merlin, especially when he sees Kol touching Belle.

Belle looked up. "'Lo, Merlin," she said kindly.

Merlin smiles at Belle gently then turns to Kol. Kol meets Merlins steady gaze impassively as always. It drove Merlin crazy. 'I don't work until 9 Merlin' Kol answers Merlins earlier question. Merlin could feel the tension in the air between him and Kol, Kol ignored it and turns back to Belle.

Belle was silent due to the obvious tension. Anna, however, was oblivious.

"Bye bye, Bella," she said. She gave Kol a sympathetic look. "You don't have to be nice to her," Anna whispered.

Kol says nothing to Anna, feeling no need to comment, he whispers to Belle who had obviously over heard 'I want to', he smiles slightly and then realises she doesn't have her camera he says 'wait here I'll go get your camera', Kol runs off to get it. Merlin frowns at Kol's back and then says 'you should stay away from Night, he's dangerous'.

Belle assumed he was kidding and laughed. "Really?" she said.

Merlin looks at her seriously and says 'yes, he was in care back in Ireland labelled dangerous bu the social, in a gang too, and in juvey for a bit, he may seem all placide and mysterious or whatever but you should
Stay away from him Belle'.

Belle frowned. "He's nice to me," she pointed out. "Sorry, Merlin. But I'll hang out with who I want."

Merlin shakes his head and is about to say something else but just then Kol comes back with her camera. Kol looks at Merlin, Merlin doesn't know how but he knows that Kol can tell what he said to Belle, it's the thing Merlin hates most about Kol, his strange ability to understand and read people, it made it impossible to hide things.

Belle smiled and took her camera. "I didn't even get the picture," she realized.

Kol looks out over the water, the sky changing from scorching red to wilful purple, Kol is once again struck by the wild tint to Belle's eyes, a part of her that she doesn't quite know of but calls out to Kol.

Belle picked up the camera and got a shot of Kol.

Kol blinks twice and then raises an eyebrow with interest, 'hope you got my good side' he says, the corners of his lips twisting up into a smile. Merlin scoffs and glares at Kol, Kol ignores the look as he always does.

"You looked thoughtful," Belle said as an explanation.

Kol nods and says 'it's my permanent state', his eyes hold amusement.

Belle laughed, rolling her eyes.

Kol takes in the tone of Belle's laugh, "Laughter magic and enchanting/Don't sustain it in your soul", the lines of a poem he read years ago come into Kol's head.

Belle tilted her head to the side. "What's that from?" she asked. She'd never been one to read poetry. She stuck to fiction mostly.

Kol comes back into the present and says 'Laughter lies by Morgan Blacksmith, he did some ok stuff, your laugh just reminded me of it'.

Belle smiled. "Are you saying I'm inspirational?" she teased.
