The beginning of Tristram Shandy is full of digressions, as the narrator fills us in on in Chapter 22. What do you think of these digressions? How does Sterne's digressive style compare with the literary style of other 18th Century novels?

These are just some questions that came to mind as I finished the volume. Feel free to direct the conversation elsewhere.
