Swedish Writer to read

"Let the right one on" is a swedish book. It's a movie now too - it's about a boy named Oscar in a Swedish suburb who befriends a girl who happens to be a vampire. Haven't read the book yet though, just seen the movie, but it was good. I recommend it.
And then we have all the children's books by Astrid Lindgren. Classics, but maybe a little bit too childish to read at your age ^^
Jan Guillou is a famous and great Swedish writer too. I loved his book "Ondskan" ("Evil"), and he has written many more. "Ondskan" is based on a true story, and it's a movie too.
And that's the ones I can come up with right now ^^ Hope it helped. :P

Is it okay to recommend a Swedish/Finnish book? I recommend Popular Music from Vittula by Mikael Niemi. It's a contemporary book which won the August prize in 2000. It's not crime or anything as it's more funny and general fiction (although it is a memoir). It's about growing up in the northern part of Sweden :)
Thanks for your replies!I'm not really up to crime or fantasy books, so I might give a try on Mikael Niemi!
If anyone has any other suggestion, let me know!
I have to second Evil (Ondskan) by Jan Guillou. I absolutely loathe most of his other books (the Hamilton series - swedish spy fiction) and was surprised when our high school teacher made us read Ondskan. I loved it! It's a fictional book partly based on his own life growing up with an abusive step-father and about the hierarchy and bullying at his posh boardingschool.
I don't know, maybe you're like me an not that into autobiographies - this one is however written very much like fiction eventhough it is based on his own experiences.

I would like to read a book from a swedish writer (english translated) and after googling I didn't really make up my mind.
I've noticed that crime books are very popular in Sweden, but crime is not my favourite style, I usually prefer generic fiction books.
Any suggestions?
