I used to watch all these pageants and awards shows on TV. My favorite of the beauty pageants was Miss Universe b/c of the national costumes and diversity of the contestants. Years ago, my family was vacationing in Cancun when the Miss Universe pageant was held there. We got to meet and greet the contestants and rec'd tickets to the pageant.

I rarely watch pageants and/or awards shows anymore. I just lost interest and gained other options to spend my time. Like Amelia said, there were only broadcast channels back then.
