Louise-Lesley (Elle) wrote: "I take it this thread will be US based?"Yes, mine will as I'm in US but anyone can post free books from their area.
Here are some free books on Nook today. As with kindle you do not have to have a Nook. You can download the app on your phone or desktop.
Some free books on amazon today
-----this is actually a 4 story set that's free today. I don't know how to link the set but you could look it up under the author.
Kathy if it is labelled Amazon, then go to the kindle edition of the book you are interested in, click on it and it will take you to the Amazon page for that book.On the RHS of the amazon page you will see a dl button. Choose how you want to read it.
You don't need a kindle to read these books, all you need to do is dl the app for reading on your computer etc. That's what I do :)
If it is a smashwords book, like Midu's above, generally there is a link, but sometimes all you need to do is put smashwords into your browser and it will come up. Smashwords gives you all possible formats.
And for the Nook example just click on the ebook edition of the book you want & choose B&N.
For those who like HP Mallory I know the first of all her series are normally free. Here is her page on smashword

This is more a tough guy kind of UF, but it's always priced somewhere below 5 dollars (it seems to move from 2.99 to 3.99)The Man Who Crossed Worlds It's good urban fantasy. I really enjoyed it.
Frank Tuttles books are always under 5 after about a year? or so. For a more romantic read, the
All the Paths of Shadow--but the romance is pretty background. In the Markhat series, there's a romance, but it doesn't start until...maybe book 3 and develops over the series. Good stuff:
is the first. Good ghost story. I like all his stuff; the Markhat character is my favorite of his.
reads more like fantasy and really I guess it's more in a medieval setting, but I dunno. I just liked it and it's under 5.
Here are some free books today on Kindle/Amazon:
---this is a new GR author. I've heard good things about him.
Awesome Alisa we must think alike :-)To add to what she said lol Travis also posted this one another page so I thought I would post it here as well
The Nightlife New York is FREE everywhere to promote the Nightlife Series novels.
FREE: Amazon UK & US, Barnes & Noble, Apple, Smashwords, Kobo, Sony, & Allromanceebooks.com
The blurb:
Vampires, strippers, escorts, night clubs, gangs, pimps and corrupt cops, the Nightlife of New York is never boring.
Is she a beautiful blond guardian angel as he imagined, or something else entirely? When Michelle saves Aaron's life she shares the benefits of her blood (after getting him shot accidentally). He awakes a changed man, living in a purgatory of eternal night, never to see the sunrise again.
Michelle drags Aaron through a hardcore learning curve of vampiric slavery. Forced to adapt to servitude, Aaron is subject to her authority of compulsion. She orders him around like a puppet on a string, a dog on a very short leash. First things first, he must learn to feed properly without creating bloodslaves (humans addicted to the powerful drug-like effect of their venomous bite).
And then she puts him to work-a male escort in the sex trade-same as Michelle. Aaron walks a tightrope of strictly controlled feeding regiments and intensely erotic sexual adventures while catering to the neurotic control-freak tendencies of his new master. It's do or die, Michelle vows to eliminate him if he proves too difficult to control. The real kicker-amidst all these shocking and degrading adjustments, Aaron finds he's falling in love.
Can he maintain and keep a sliver of his humanity intact? Innocence is a luxury few can afford in the decadent nightlife of New York. In a world where sex, blood, and power over women is so readily accessible, Aaron struggles against the predatory instincts deeply rooted in his new psyche. He must find his way quickly, practicing rigid self-control, or risk the consequences of Michelle's wrath.
The second novel in the Series, "The Nightlife: Las Vegas" is available FREE to borrow for Amazon Prime Members.
http://www.amazon.com/The-Nightlife-V...
The blurb:
Take a splash of “The Hangover” stir it up with “True Blood” and a heavy dose of the Colombian Cartel. The Nightlife Las Vegas is never boring.
Aaron Pilan lives by one rule, that of his vampire master Michelle--no bloodslaves. EVER. He breaks that rule when he meets Anastasia.
All Anastasia ever wanted was to be loved and cherished, but the predatory men she’s attracted to bring her only pain and abuse. Escaping one train-wreck relationship for another, Anastasia finally finds happiness with Aaron and Michelle as a bloodslave, a pet. They give her all the love, affection, and rough sex she can handle.
But when her vampire lovers run afoul of the Colombian Cartel, will she survive long enough to enjoy her wonderful new life?
The third novel in the Nightlife Series is "Blood Slave", available on Amazon, Smashwords, Apple, and Allromanceebooks.com.
This novel does not follow Aaron and Michelle's misadventures. Its a completely separate and unrelated cast. It is very much the same kind of material via all the wonderful Nightlife debauchery and decadence and VAMPIRES and intense eroticism.
The blurb:
Her mother named her Esperanza de Salvador - Hope for Salvation. But when a girl works as an escort for Colombian cartel in the ghettos of Spanish Harlem, there wasn’t much hope, or salvation.
Hope’s telepathic ability keeps her a step ahead of ruin, but her unusual gift attracts the attention of a psychotic vampire bitch. Trapped in a Manhattan penthouse with the psycho, she thought she was dead meat.
Her survival lies in the hands of Vampire Master Enrique. He seems to respect her, perhaps even care. As a measure of protection, he makes her his personal Bloodslave. Helplessly addicted to his bite, Enrique rules her every moment. As always, Hope must adapt to survive.
Swept into the decadent nightlife of Manhattan's elite, she falls in love with Enrique and prays someday he may grow to love her, too. But is it simply a relationship of convenience? Is she nothing more than a concubine desperate to satisfy his nightly demands for blood and sex?
And forever in the background is the fear that one day the cartel boss she abandoned will hunt her down to collect on old debts.
I hope you enjoy these novels as much as I enjoyed writing them. I live very vicariously through the Nightlife Series.

It seemed interesting on two parts the vamp is a woman and seems rather dominating plus it looks quite erotic which I do not see a lot of men do. Last is the author is super nice!

These two books are $1.99. http://www.amazon.com/Redemption-Pent...
http://www.amazon.com/Absolution-Pent...
I've read them both & it's a pretty good vampire series. There has been a disease outbreak & most humans had the vaccine. This vaccine poisons their blood to vampires so the vamps are starving to death. The head vamp here trys to create a special city for unvaccinated humans & his vamps to live in. Of course the bad guys try to ruin everything...lol
I know very little about steampunk but I've heard this book is good. Only $1.99 today. I bought it myself. Going to give it a try. http://www.amazon.com/Kiss-of-Steel-e...
I use thriftbooks.com and most of the books are under $4 and the shipping is free. They're used books but they're usually in good condition. I was on the fence about buying the House of Night series and a few others so this was a cheaper way for me to find out how I liked them.
.99 at the moment for Kindle at amazon

Thx for the heads up Nicole. I've looked at those books more than one time. Now I hv a good excuse to buy them.
Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas is today's (2/6/13) Kindle Daily Deal on Amazon. It's on sale for $2.99. I noticed there is a buddy read for this book scheduled in March so today is a good day to get the book for a cheap price.
I've read this author's contemporary books and they are great. Fantasy is new for her. I'm eager to check it out. Free on amazon.http://www.amazon.com/Edgewood-Series...
I've read this series. It's pretty good. Different subject idea. It's about a FBI agent who gets bit by a vampire & turned. She then becomes a PI so she can work in the dark. The twist is she is a mom so she still has to get kids from school, take them to soccer, etc. Not your typical hot, young heroine. The first four books are on sale for $2.99 for the bundle.http://www.amazon.com/Samantha-Moon-F...

There are not any reviews on this yet but it sounds interesting. It's about Sin Eaters (which I've only read about in BDB). Looks to be YA. Free on Kindlehttp://www.amazon.com/The-Sin-Eater-D...
This also looks pretty good. Billed as a Steampunk Western w/demons. Hhhmmmmm. I'm gonna give it a try. Free on kindle.http://www.amazon.com/The-Hunter-Lege...
