Bruce Blake | 3 comments I just finished "The World More Full of Weeping" by Robert Wiersma - a novella. Well written and easy to read. Even I got through it in a day.
Currently reading "The Bones of the Earth" by Scott Bury, an epic fantasy with its basis in eastern Europe. Very good read so far.
And finally, "The Key" by James Frey, in the power of myth in your writing.

Brian Bigelow (brian_bigelow) I'm reading an eARC for Dead Reflections by Carol Weekes (I'm doing an advance review for JounalStone). Haven't gotten too far into it but the story does seem to be well set up. Even though the chapters are rather short things there's a lot of meat to them. The house is reminding me of the one in The Amityville Horror and I'm looking forward to what is coming.

There's plenty of the descriptiveness I like in a story and like all good horror stories the tension is building.

Brian Bigelow (brian_bigelow) I'm reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King at present. Pretty good story overall. You go back in time to change events in the past, in the case stopping Oswald from committing the assassination. One of the main settings in the first 20% is Derry, Maine in today and in 1958. Jack Epping, a teacher is one of the primary characters.

Did a little research into it, apparently much of the book was written before he wrote Carrie. It was interesting to read some of the origin of the "IT" story line. There is a lot of minutia, cliches and rambling which can get a little tedious but not too bad considering when he first wrote a bunch of it. You basically get to see a lot of bits of early Stephen King in this book.

On a side note, don't throw away manuscripts because its not working for you at present. You may come back to it 30+ years later and finish it up.

Sounds like a lot of the good books in one of Stephen King's book. I like his books.
