Book Covers that Don't Live up to the Book

I've been thinkin' about this...I'm sure I'll come up with a few. There's a lot that don't live up to their covers (how could they?), but an excellent cover and a dud of a book may be harder to come up with.I'm off to scan my shelves...
I know this is going to kill the fans, but I'll say The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter. What a cool cover... I tend not to pick up the, er, muscle guy covers anymore. xD They just disappoint, LOL.[image error]
LOL new_user! I had to "cast aside" THE DARKEST KISS (book 2 in LOTU) because I just can't bring myself to finish it (the heroine is such a pain and the hero's dialog is equally annoying). Very cool covers though.
Tall Dark Cowboy by Mackenzie McKade - yep this one doesn't measure up to the awesome cover.[image error]
Promises Reveal by Sarah McCarty. The cover was smoking hot, and though the sex of the story lived up to it, the romance was meh.
Dammit! I was hoping for a good one with these two cowboy stories :-/ Got one on TBR and the other "in transit".
It wasn't that "A Tall Dark Cowboy" was bad (I would give it a "B"), East, it's just that it would have to be an EXCELLENT book to live up to THAT cover!:)And
, how can you live up to that? That book didn't grab me like I thought it would (maybe I was influenced by the cover?)
I agree with Auntee, Tall Dark Cowboy wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as the cover. The author changed the setting of the story from bars and rodeos to suddenly being in the office, which I found jarring and unbelievable. I felt like the author needed to make the heroine more than "just a waitress" (I am not sure why) so she came up with an implosible office romance. Now, I am much more sensative to the type of job she went to work in since I am in a related field and let's just say that the way her job was portayed in the book is not the way it works. She wouldn't have been suddenly so valuable to the firm, it takes time to learn how the real world works compared to the class room.

The first one that comes to mind for me is my absolute favourite cover, Lord of the Deep by Dawn Thompson. This guy is on the ol' keeper shelf for the cover alone but the story is one the absolute worst I've ever read (lol!)
