Well turn the bowl in the other direction.
Dear Group Members,I am a new member of the UK Amazon Kindle Forum Group. My name is Guy Portman and I am the author of Charles Middleworth, a humorous tale of the unexpected. I read all kinds of books, both Fiction and Non-Fiction and enjoy posting reviews on Goodreads, Amazon and on my blog, www.guyportman.com.
I look forward to participating in your discussions.
Hello Guy, welcome aboard. You might like to start an author thread and tell us about your books. The intro thread is cleared out monthly but you can regard your author thread as 'home'.
Hi I'm a new member of the kindle forum. My name is David Staniforth, a reader and writer, dipping in a tentative toe to see how this all works
Hey David! Welcome to the group. David's written a couple of brilliant fantasy books folks. I've put links to them recently in the recommendations section.Make yourself at home David. If you get lost yell and someone will bail you out!
Hi, Ignite. The site does seem a little confusing. I'm getting inspired for new material just sitting here trying to fathom it out!
Welcome to the group, Guy and David!

Hi all who've been here since I got lost in the depths of your site. Actually I went away for a while, writing/re-drafting.
Hi guys, My name is GS Bains and I am a new author with my debut novel "The Awakening: Samantha" currently available on Amazon.
Hope to get to know as many of you guys as possible and to join many discussions on varied subjects, love watching movies and reading books - will probably join every single discussion on movies lol.

Hi Guy, David and GS. Welcome to our little patch of wonderfulness.Settle in, and if you get stuck, please give a holler. As Ignite has so accurately stated earlier, starting a Meet the Author thread and talking to us always pays dividends.
Hello David and GS. Look forward to finding out more about both of you,and your books of course. Welcome!
Ignite wrote: "Hello Guy, welcome aboard. You might like to start an author thread and tell us about your books. The intro thread is cleared out monthly but you can regard your author thread as 'home'."Thanks for the advice Ignite, I will start an author thread.

Hello All, I am not a new member but I've not been a round for a wee while and seem to have missed some key features of this lovely forum, so I feel a need to start again from the beginning and get to know everyone again. So, here I am and a big hello all :) Now I am going to have a wee look at the discussion about KDP select, which sounds interesting and about which I need to know more.
ps: I think I had an author thread before, should I start one again?
It might still be there Marianne. Click at the thing that says 7 of 200 threads or whatever, at the side of Meet The Authors - and you'll get a list of several pages. Have a look there first.

I can't find me either ...though I did find a new release thread, but that's not the same, is it ?(http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...)
Hello to you too, DeeDee. Your author thread is IMPRESSIVE, Dee Dee – i've been having a wee snoop around to see what to do. Looking forward to reading your threads, too, GS and David :)
Hi Sara :) ... and Guy and Jud (Disney Diva),and Phillip (Sarah!) and Geoff, the Noisy Passion Fruit, and Emma and Karen and Alexandra and Gingerilly and Simon and Ignite - of course. Hope I've not missed anyone, really looking forward to catching up with old friends and getting to know new ones :) x

They couldn't shut me up so they shoved me in to a thread where madness and randomness reigns supreme!!! ;-P
And I still managed to infect the rest of forum!!!
Hi DD, don't know if your still around, and I'm glad you're looking forward to reading authors thread because I can't figure out where to create it. Anybody help!
If no-one's answered your plea David, scroll down the main page till you find a section called Meet the Authors. You need to click on the bit at the side which tells you how many threads are on there and then it will say 'Start a new topic' and off you go.
David wrote: "Hi DD, don't know if your still around, and I'm glad you're looking forward to reading authors thread because I can't figure out where to create it. Anybody help!"Still here! :-D
If you go to the top of THIS page in the top right hand corner there is a box, click on the link that says 'Group Home'.
The page it takes you to will be another list, scroll down until you get to 'meet the authors'. Click on that title and on the top right hand side of the page there is a 'add new topic' option.
Click and start your thread!!!
Hi, I'm Steve from Lancaster (UK). I read a wide variety of books - crime-thrillers, sci fi, fantasy, historical, contemporary, and a fair bit of non-fiction too. In recent years I've read rather slowly, until I got a Kindle for Christmas - now I'm reading a lot more and loving it.Looking forward to some good discussions, it looks like a great group here.
Hi Steve - welcome. Check around - we talk about kindles, we talk about books - actually, we talk about everything!

Please start by adding a post to our ‘Introduce Yourself ‘ thread. We are a nosey lot and would love to know who you are, what you like to read (and write), where you live and what you drink, eat, wear and grow.
This thread meanders off-topic quite a bit but as soon as a new member comes along our friendly but bonkers members soon appear to give you a warm welcome.
Of course you don’t have to introduce yourself if you prefer.
Getting started is often a bit of a problem. Try our Group Quick Start for tips.
You could head off to Meet The Authors, check out our Monthly Book Selection, check out the New releases or play some Group Games.
The Author Zone is going great guns. This is not just for authors by any means but gives them a place where they can talk about publishing challenges and resources. It is a no-promo zone!
Even if you don’t feel ready to post something you are most welcome to sit back and watch the fun.
This forum is very lightly moderated (hardly noticeable), occasionally we will ask you to keep a particular thread on topic and we have a few simple rules about author threads and new releases.
There are plenty of ebook related threads, author related discussions including a debate on the merits of KDP Select and a place to share your musical taste.
If you have any problems you can post questions on the threads or visit our Agony Aunt and someone will come along and help. If you would rather not ask your question publicly by all means send a personal message (PM) to Patti or myself and we will try to help.
I archive this section from time to time, so if you want a conversation that isn't going to disappear, feel free to use any of the existing threads or start your own.
