The top 5 fiction was a hit, so What about a list of your favorite 5 or 10 NON-FICTION titles? And name your favorite non-fiction authors as well if you like
Here's a few of mine:

Mornings on Horseback : David McCullough

In Cold Blood: Truman Capote
The Children's Blizzard: David Laskin
Fordlandia: Greg Grandin
Am now trying to get through Vol. I (The Path to Power) of Robert Caro's Lyndon Johnson series - slow going!

Hiya Jeff-
You might want to see if you can change the header on this NF subject. Great topic by the way.

Actually, East of Eden is part memoir--the Hamilton family were his mother's people, and he, himself, appears in one scene, hiding behind Olive (his mother)'s skirts.
In no particular order:
- The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
- The Real All Americans: The Team That Changed a Game, a People, a Nation by Sally Jenkins
- Silent Spring by Rachel Carson
- The Perfect Storm: A True Story of Men Against the Sea by Sebastian Junger
- Powershift: Knowledge, Wealth, and Power at the Edge of the 21st Century by Alvin Toffler
- The Cuckoo's Egg: Tracking a Spy Through the Maze of Computer Espionage by Clifford Stoll
- Staying Up Much Too Late: Edward Hopper's Nighthawks and the Dark Side of the American Psyche by Gordon Theisen
- Hell's Angels by Hunter S. Thompson
- Hustler Days: Minnesota Fats, Wimpy Lassiter, Jersey Red, and America's Great Age of Pool by R.A. Dyer
- Street Without Joy byBernard B. Fall
I tried to avoid straight auto/biography memoirs and 'big and important' histories. The last book, Street Without Joy' is a military political history that is unsurpassed if not unequaled. It should be required reading. For everyone.
There are several non-fiction books I'd include in this list if I went on for another 10 or more books, some that have been mentioned already. There are easily half a dozen more recent works of history works that are favorites if I thought about them just in terms of non-fiction.
Enough for the moment!
