He just trained Silver so she'd be stronger and faster for his own use, but he made her think it was to protect herself against the world. Later on when she found out how her mother died, she tried killing her Father. After failing, the guards imprisoned her and sold her to a high prestist on the other side of the ocean. He was very ill so she took care of him. She ended up falling in love with him but before she could tell him, the next morning she found him dead and she's been on her own ever since.
