Suzanne mentioned that the character Fiona in Talking to The Dead by Harry Bingham, "was a tad odd but interesting and likeable as was the story".

I thought this would make a great topic so hear it is! I think you must know some and I hope you'll add the list.

CherylM mentioned these two

How about Ignatious Reilly from A Confederacy of Dunces. Oh, and Owen Meany from A Prayer for Own Meany. They really fit the description!

"Death" is a quirky but powerful character in the book The Book Thief by Markus Zukas. Excellent read BTW.

Su reminded us all of the cast of odd characters in Geek Love, by Katherine Dunn. The story centers on a family of genetically modified circus 'freaks.' - Megan Q.

message 5: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Tiny, in Will Grayson, Will Grayson is pretty special, as he's in high school, and yet flamboyantly Out(of the closet), and also a football player. The whole book is fresh and complex like that - no cliches, nothing predictable. Both sweet and intensely dramatic.
