I thought I would start doing a book theme for every month ,so I am able to read more books this year! Any ideas on what the themes should be for each month?

Ohh that's a good idea we could make them seasonal as well, like horror in October and books with a winter setting in January etc

Lauren (Northern Plunder) (northernplunder) February could be romance books or books about being independent if you're not the mushy type :P

Carmen (cml_carmen) April could be humor since we've got April Fool's day. And maybe fantasy for March (in like a Lion makes me think of Chronicles of Narnia which leads to Fantasy)?

Shall we do this then? We'll pick a theme for January and we will all have to read a book in that theme?

Lydia (misguidedstarlight) | 7 comments Maybe August or a summer month could be a coming-of-age road trip type book, so people could read something like Paper Towns (if they haven't already) or On The Road (which I have been meaning to read for ages)?

What shall our theme be for January we don't have long left should it be snow and the cold, New Years or something else?

Emma | 8 comments I'm in the middle of reading a rash of young adult books, so maybe the theme can be that, because the year is young, etc?

Maren (majormaren) | 6 comments July: beach reads. something silly/fun/lighthearted
September: a school book. something that takes place around a school (curse workers, harry potter, etc.)

Shall we just jump straight to February as it will be hard to find finish and discuss a book in a week and I'll create a group now. If you still want to do a January one I'll start that up also

Good idea, I'm in the middle of two books right now anyway, so can't start a new one. A good Feb. theme is love stories, for Valentine's Day.

Kertu (koiliblikas) Although I'm not so much into romance novels anymore but romance seems like a good theme for February. I think at least for the first year it would be fine to pick the themes according to different holidays.

Emma | 8 comments You can find books about love without them being "romance novels".

Lydia (misguidedstarlight) | 7 comments Is the challenge just to read a book related to the decided theme? Or will we nominate books and then decide on one that we will all read for that month?
