1st you have to understand that Joss is writing for the graphic novel audience rather than the television audience.
2nd Joss has often admitted that he has an idea for a story line then changes it at the last minute.
he was off the air for some time now. then he had to adjust his ideas for the graphic novel audience. Maybe
that was the best that he could do.
