I don't know if there's are guidelines to what counts and what doesn't. I think the point is to make the effort. Or so I think.I've been averaging one per week but say one took me 4 days and he next took 8 or so. Average book size about 250 to 300 pages thus far. Some of the stuff on my list is much bigger though. Going to be quite the challenge.
I am (surprisingly) ahead of schedule. Things that have contributed to my success are: allowing myself to read for enjoyment and deleting my facebook account. I have always thought I read for enjoyment but the last couple years I have pushed myself to read classics that I really didn't enjoy and it was like a chore to read. Though I think the idea of reading a book a week is nice- it isn't practical for me. I'm a full time student and I have to take advantages of breaks to read two or three books in one week to make up for the weeks I don't finish one in a week. Also there are a lot of longer books I would like to read (working on the Game of Thrones series) and I can't always finish those in a week . I guess this is my long winded way of saying I'm just shooting for an overall 52 and I feel fine about that and I think you should too. I think the point is to just challenge yourself to read more than you would normally.
I have to agree with Topher. I am averaging about a book per week. I've had some books with fewer pages which enabled me to read them quicker. I have already read more this year than I have read in the last year. My goal is to read 30 this year however I am trying to keep on track with one book per week.

I'm on my third book because I turned off the tv and left twitter alone. I practially read everywhere now because i buy ebooks. It's refreshing to be reading again. I forgot how much I loved it.

I haven't found it difficult but its also an unofficial off season for me since I work at the MD Zoo. I'll probably get ahead today because I refuse to get out of bed and face the cold winds. I may also update my profile and my book lists, its the least I can do.

Hey everyone! I'm doing my best to stay on track but I have fallen a lil behind. My first book was over 500 pages, and the second book was one I had started last year but never got around to finishing. I'm re-reading "The Lover" this week, which is a short but at times difficult read, so hopefully after I'm done with it, I can accelerate my pace a bit.

My problem is my tendency to jump from book to book. I'm going to make an effort to stick to one book in order to stay on track.

A book a week has proven more difficult than I anticipated with my schedule. So my overall goal is to read more than I did last year.

I have managed a book a week so far but admittedly I've had a couple of easy readers. I am considering reading more than one a week and staggering their completion if that makes sense.

I usually read one book in 3 weeks. I'm challenging myself to read one book a week to get through my to-be-read stacks that are getting taller each week.

I have fallen behind if I am considering 52 books this year, but I am not worrying because trying to keep up makes me more aware of how much reading I am doing and how much enjoyment I am receiving from doing so. It certainly keeps me grounded and provides the quiet I need. That is what matters - to me. I hope everyone else is enjoying the "challenge".

I've added The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa to my one book a week list. It's a short book so I'll have no excuses for not finishing it.

Starting Came the Dawn and Other Stories by Wallace Wood. It's a suspense/crime hardbound comic book of 26 stories. The stories are drawn by Wallace Wood.

I've been finding it difficult to keep up with reading one week per week. But I am definately managing to read more than I have this past year. That's a silver lining

I've decided that there is just simply no way, unless you don't have a full time job, attending school, or raising a family or all three; to read one book per week - in so far as quality is concerned. So, while this goal has pushed me to read more, I am content with not being able to meet it.

I say reading 52 books this year counts. I was falling behind, but recently started a series & have been reading the books in only a few days, getting me to 2 -3 books per week. I wouldn't stress it tho. The point is the effort. Reading consistently. As long as you are doing that you are on track.

I forgot all about the group but I have actually read 18 books this year. I work part time so I just read a lot on my days off. My brain just wont let me read a little bit each day of the week. I have to read when I have plenty of time and can finish or get to a good stopping place. Sometimes I've read 2 books in one week, sometimes I read no books during a week but I have read 18 and this is actually the 18th week of the year
