Jenna (alovelyhorror) | 6 comments So I guess I will post some bits of the novel that I am writing here as well as some of the poems that I write.

Here is the latest poem that I've written. It is HEAVILY influenced by John Green's Looking for Alaska, which is why a lot of the lines from that novel are in it. It was actually written as a response to LFA. Anyway here it is..

My Crooked Heart

It longs to catch
Wrath of the sun,
Lull of the moon.

To be enveloped,
Touched, affected,
Wrapped in thee.

In search for The Great
Perhaps; that shall never be found.

Locked within shallow graves,
Bound by tiny monuments.

Straying, day by day,
Lost in the labyrinth,
Steadfast and suffering
As only can be.

Darkness becomes light
Becomes darkness.

Search, long forgotten,
Stirs from the depth.

“I cannot forget, I cannot forget.”
But as it will be known,
All things fall apart...

Jenna (alovelyhorror) | 6 comments k guys...here's another one I wrote a couple of years ago!

Moment

She wakes, dead in the night, frightened.
Wrought with a fear of the impending
What? She does not know.
Crumbs slipping away, day by day,
Mountain collapsing around her, yet
She can’t let herself believe.
Why does love have to be
What we expect?
Satisfaction always never ours.
She’s freezing, fantastically freezing
Ice cold sweat sliding slowly;
Breath white in the air.
Naked thoughts; life without him she cannot
Bear. He is her nature.
How could that be erased?
Mind tumbling, loud, splitting screams
Her love is beating her, belligerently boxing her within
Leaving her scratching, bloody and bruised.
But still creeps a fear within
And a raspy whisper slips
“I don’t ever want to forget your face.”

Not quite as good as the first one, but still amazingly mournful and sweet. I wish I could write poetry like you do? What's your secret?

message 9: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (alovelyhorror) | 6 comments I actually had never written any poetry until I was in college. I was never very interested in poetry. I took a creative writing class my 3rd year though and half of the class consisted of writing poems. The professor was one of the best teachers I ever had and he taught me a lot about writing poetry. Really poetry is all about just writing down what you feel in a moment and no worrying about style...the feelings create a style of its own.

Here's another one. I don't really remember writing it, and I can tell it wasn't finished, but I kind of like it the way it is now...maybe I'll finish it someday though

Work In Progress

I. Time and calamity have indefinitely passed
And the Ice Queen dangles glorified in its wake.
Ferocity flames from within her, enraged,
Melting the icy cold face that’s been built to maintain.
Leftover grief manifests as a season:
Harsh and bitter following the calm composed breeze.
Wronged by him, she’d wronged herself, lending to
Bombarding glances and untamed whispers.
Salt stained darkness blurs reality
As she digs for escape through stone hardened earth.
Betrayal: a feeling undeserving yet fierce. Ravaging within.

II. She must not let this idea take hold.
Calm and composed she can’t be overcome
By emotions bleak and buried within.
When did this feeling surface? And how
Has she let petty actions break her from fulfillment?
It’s already been done; no mistakes in her resolution
Yet he’s protruded her icy will giving way to doubt.
Fear and disappointment haze helpless her power
A leaf blown in the wind vulnerable and weak.
She chooses to outwardly ignore.
Determination: a silent internal war.

III.

Elevetha Very nice!

This one has a bit more emotion behind it than the other two, I admit this one is my favorite. I can't wait to see it when you finish it!

Along with my homeschool curriculum I do a creative writing program, but I haven't gotten to the poetry section quite yet. Perhaps my own skills will improve after going through that. :)
