This is just my kind of thing! Combining a challenge with my plan to immensely reduce my tbr-mount is fabulous.

I'm reading both real books and e-books for this challenge. Here are the ones I've read so far:1. Schwüle Tage by Eduard von Keyserling (read 02/01/13)

3. Schloß Gripsholm by Kurt Tucholsky (read 05/01/13)
4. Er ist wieder da by Timur Vermes (read 06/01/13)
5. The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes (read 06/01/13)
6. Petruschkas Lackschuhe by Vita Andersen (read 10/01/13)
7. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson (read 16/01/13)
8. Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild (read 18/01/13)
9. The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway (read 19/01/13)
10. Der Hundertjährige, der aus dem Fenster stieg und verschwand by Jonas Jonasson (read 20/01/13)
11. A Necklace of Raindrops and Other Stories by Joan Aiken (read 22/01/13)12. Dracula by Bram Stoker (read 22/01/13)
13. The Blue Fairy Book by Andrew Lang (read 23/01/13)14. Come Hither: A Family Treasury of Best-Loved Rhymes and Poems for Children by Walter de la Mare (read 23/01/13)
15. Fifty Fables for Children by Johann Wilhelm Hey (read 23/01/13)
I remember reading and loving Ballet Shoes years and years ago! I 'll have to see if I can find a copy of it to re-read!! Thanks for the memory!!
18. Embers by Sándor Márai (read 26/01/13)19. Das erotische Potential meiner Frau by David Foenkinos (read 26/01/13)

I really wish I knew how people manage to read three books a week (+). How? Please share the secret. ;)

That's true :) And I also have this habit of reading several books at a time. So there are some weeks when I finish lots of books. Right now I'm reading a few longer ones which means it will take some time until I've finished the next one.

When I read a sci-fi or fantasy book, they last waaay longer!

Yes - hah! what a clever idea!
:O)
24. DuMont Reisehandbuch Mexiko by Gerhard Heck (read 11/03/13)25. The Golem's Eye by Jonathan Stroud (read 15/03/13)
26. The Rose of Fire by Carlos Ruiz Zafón (read 18/03/13)
You are whipping through them now - well done. How many were:'why had I waited so long to read this'
as opposed to
'THAT was why I steered clear for so long'
Reading life is fun whatever
:O)

There were hardly any of the latter category - fortunately :)
But there were several ones I don't know why I didn't read those earlier: The Scarlet Letter, Siddhartha, Dracula, The Old Man and the Sea or Embers have been on my tbr pile like forever and I absolutely loved all of them.
The next one I'm planning on crossing off this forever list is 1984. I was born that year and really have been wanting to read this book (almost) ever since. Somehow always something else came across.
I'd also make much more progress here if I wasn't borrowing so many books from the library all the time. I've read 54 books so far and 21 of those were library books. I've got five more at home and already placed reservations on another 4. Most of them are recently published books only available in hardcover for which I don't want to spend that much money but want to read now. I could cut down on those of course but one has to keep up-to-date, don't you?
34. Pollyanna by Eleanor H. Porter (read 12/04/13)I just started 1984 and Buddenbrooks from my "have-wanted-to-read-forever" list and I'm really liking both a lot so far.
35. 1984 by George Orwell (read 16/04/13)This was so brilliant! Definitely the best dystopian novel I ever read and one of the best novels in general. I'd rate it 6 stars if that were possible!
42. Tschick by Wolfgang Herrndorf (read 28/05/13)43. The New Kid on the Block by Jack Prelutsky (read 29/05/13)
44. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares (read 30/05/13)45. Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella (read 01/06/13)
47. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (read 02/06/13)48. Little Old Mrs Pepperpot by Alf Prøysen (read 07/06/13)
49. Old Tom by Leigh Hobbs (read 11/06/13)
50. Sworn to Silence by Linda Castillo (read 19/06/13)Done with the first third of the way! I'd be a lot further if some of these books hadn't taken me so long because they were so very bad.
I granted 1 star. No matter any 'keenly-written passages' or 'life lessons' contained; it dragged. It scarcely got to the titular family gathering or big secret it advertised. I saw the final pages because I'm not one who doesn't finish.
52. When the Emperor Was Divine by Julie Otsuka (read 21/06/13)I'm finally making some progress here. I can't keep myself from borrowing books from the library. So my new strategy is to alternate between a book I own and one I borrow. So far it's working pretty well.

Sounds like a good strategy!
