I've read that a few months ago, enjoy! There's a quote in the book I really like, but I don't want to ruin the story for you. It's a good book anyway.
The more the merrier (hey, maybe I should start a group called "overused and cliche lines you probably heard your grandmother say but is still being used by Tessa), I'm excited to see all the different insights that come from different people, hopefully lots of people will join.
If it's okay with you guys, I plan to start this one on 2/1 (since it will go towards our Valentine's Day Challenge) That way I start it in February! but, I promise I will catch right up with you guys :D
I just got the book! 65 chapters/ 356 pages
How much do you guys want to read a day?
How about 13 chapters which will take us to page 72. We can probably up it on the weekend (I have more free time on the weekends!) Is that too much, too little?
it's perfect!!! I can't wait!!! :D I'm going to start a day late so I will join in on the conversation on the 1st when I'll be 26 chapters in!

perfect!
I am really excited! I feel like I'm really going to love this one, Gisbelle!
OOH okay I just got back on Goodreads so I'm really sorry for missing all of our buddy reads I promised to join in on (crazy stressful two months, literally have not had time to read).BUT now that I'm back I'd love to read this with you guys!
Ally wrote: "OOH okay I just got back on Goodreads..."Yay Ally!!!!! I'm so glad you're back! I've been wondering how you were !!!! :D welcome back!!
I'm actually going to start a couple of hours early and begin now! I'll be super busy this weekend so that should make up some lost time. So excited! I'll let you know what I think.
Yes! Keep us posted! I may read a few chapters tonight as well because tomorrow I have a few things to do! I won't read over though!
How far is everybody? I believe I am on Chapter 20 and this may sound silly since I'm not even halfway done but I feel like this may be my favorite book of all time! :D I love everything about it, especially the concept! Trisha, have you started yet?
Yes, I've started it :D not far enough to make a full judgement on it though - I'm going to finish making dinner, eat and then read my heart out! LOLI'll be back in just a little while to chat!
wow, favorite of all time. I can't wait to get farther! :D
I hope you guys enjoy this one!! I have not read it yet, but I am looking forward to seeing what you guys think of it, and then maybe I will pick it up!! :)
Great Trisha! I am excited to chat, very! Thanks Tori, I will keep you posted on what I think of it:)
Hope both of you will like it as much as I am liking it at the moment!
Okay, I stopped at 27! I'm still loving it though!
One thing that gets confusing though is if they are talking about what happens right now or in their future lives.. Does anybody else find this confusing or is it just me?!
oh my gosh!!! this is so good!!!I'm not quite to 27 yet, but almost there.
so far I'm not finding the future too confusing but you're farther than me so I'll keep you posted.
So, wow! If you saw your future on FB, do you think you'd believe it??
I'm about the same age as their future life...and it's crazy to think my 16/17 year old self seeing me now. Am I now where/who I thought I would be/at when I was younger...
I'm glad you're liking it to Trisha! Are we the only ones reading it?! I just stopped at 31.
Maybe it's just me, it's not too confusing, but I got it all figured out now.
hmm...If I saw my future of FB I would probably not believe it! Parts I would probably want to believe and others I wouldn't want to!
So, today we read up to 40... I may read a little more since tomorrow is the SuperBowl and we have plans!
I stopped at 40...and wow!! Just wow!! It's amazing! I really like Jason and Emma!! And even Tyson and Kellan! (view spoiler)dau
Ugh,and what she just saw about Kellan?!?! Crazy!!! And how one move(view spoiler)
....Hmmm, where did Tessa, Tabitha and Ally go? I hope they are reading it and enjoying it too!! :D

Well I'm well into the 200's and I found Emma to be okay... Why did she do that makes you think that way? :D I'll tell you why I don't like here a whole lot later because I don't want to spoil anything but do you like the overall book though?
I love the concept, I think its very original and I like Kellan already, the references to the '90's are fun too but Emma strikes me as submissive yet pushy and a bit unsubstantial.
I finished this last night! I loved it and it's definitely in my top three favorite books of all time! Let's discuss! :D What were your guys favorite part? Any characters you found to be annoying?
I absolutely loved the ending scene, one of the best I've ever read. Emma and Josh till annoyed me throughout the whole thing, or maybe it was because I liked Kellan and Tyson so much and since Emma and Josh are the main character and should be better she seemed like a pathetic attempt at character dimension, who knows. I really wanted to learn more about Kellan, Tyson, and Josh' s brother David futures but whatever can't have everything. Really enjoyed overall because of the quick plot and writing.
Yeah, I liked the ending scene too! What I didn't like was how worried Emma was about her future and she went out of her way to change her future.
I didn't really blame her for that, I mean I can practically guarantee you I would have done the exact same things. I found it weird though that they never really even tried to figure out how Facebook got there. I mean not that I would have wanted them too because it wasn't the point but still.
Well, maybe I would but I don't think I want to know how my future is going to plan out at all. But I felt that she was taking up so much of her time trying to control things that would change her future. Yeah, they didn't even try to figure out how it got there, no research or nothing...but if they did the book wouldn't of been the same and it probably wouldn't be as great as it was:D
Sorry that I haven't been able to get on here!I did finish, and here are a few of my thoughts:
1. Would I believe it? Honestly, I don't know. My guess is yes. But I'd also be as upset as Emma was and I'd keep trying to change it. I totally understand that. But that also leads me to my next point....
2. I REALLY didn't like Emma. Everything about her just annoyed me. Especially the way she treated guys and relationships in general. She just didn't care about ANYTHING. And that's why she had such a crappy future. She put it on herself. That was probably why it took me so long to get through.
3. It was a quick read, stylistically. I loved the writing styles of the two authors, and I think they did a great job together. It was a breeze (especially Josh's parts - like I said, out of pure frustration, Emma's took me a bit longer).
4. I thought the ripple effect was interesting. But, logically, if every single move they made in their lives would affect their future anyway, why were they putting so much stock in the forecast? Like, without him even tampering with it, Josh's future changed. So, to me at least, it didn't make sense that by meddling with these events, they'd definitely have the future they wanted. Because once they were content and moved on with their lives, something would change that they'd have no control of.
I think the book would have been a bit better if, for instance, their futures never changed. Like some sort of destiny thing? So that, as much as they try to change it, no matter what they do, they'll always end up where they belong at their future. It would have made more sense to me from a logical standpoint.
Tessa wrote: "I absolutely loved the ending scene, one of the best I've ever read. Emma and Josh till annoyed me throughout the whole thing, or maybe it was because I liked Kellan and Tyson so much and since E..."Agreed! I loved Kellan and Tyson. Wish they were developed even more.
That reminds me of What a Boy Wants. It was a book that had two sets of romances within friends, but people liked the secondary couple more, and the sequel, What a Boy Needs, focused on them I believe (though I never read the sequel).
Sorry for writing so much! This is what happens when I can't come on for the bulk of the discussion... I probably would have rated this book much less if I didn't like the overall commentary. To me, the book was a commentary of the unnecessarily large amount of attention (and stress) we place on social media, and the need to compare our lives to those of our "friends." And, when taken out of the context of our generation, how stupid the idea of facebook actually is. Especially the part where Josh is in absolute shock over the amount of "private" information that everyone posts on Facebook for the world to see. And how Emma judges the success of her future based on how many Facebook friends she has.
It's interesting that as Emma's character develops and matures, when she reaches the point with Cody and finally becomes a better person, her future self actually deletes her Facebook. Now that she actually has her priorities straight, she no longer needs the social "ego boost" or whatever of Facebook? Food for thought.
Ally wrote: "Now that she actually has her priorities straight, she no longer needs the social "ego boost" or whatever of Facebook? Food for thought..."I totally thought the same thing. That struck me and I was trying to decide if it was just a way to end the book or a statement by the authors.
I also really loved the two authors. And for some reason, Emma didn't totally drive me nuts - although she should have.
lol
Ally, I'm glad you made it on here to say hi and give your two cents! Your thoughts are always so interesting to read! :D
Tessa, I'm also so glad to see you liked the book. I was worried when you were mentioning how annoying Tessa was that I wasn't sure if you'd make it through! but yay!! you did and you liked it! :D
Since Emma wasn't like most heroines I read about it took me a while to get used to her and even I never entirely warned up to her she did redeem herself in my eyes by deleting Facebook in the future.
I liked the book but I was hopping to see what their actual futures were, where hopefully Emma and Josh were together.
