What do you think the theme should be for February? We could do romance but we could also do something else if you don't want to label the whole month by one day

Lauren (Northern Plunder) (northernplunder) I was thinking maybe a theme like "Strong main character" or yeah. I don't know.

message 3: by Amber (new)

Amber Brown (ambernevabrown) We could do a break-up novel. xD

message 4: by Kertu (new)

Kertu (koiliblikas) A romance novel sound okay to me. Or just something to do with Valentine's Day because then it could also be about a break-up or at least not that sugary.

message 5: by Liz (new)

Liz I'm up for reading some romance novels, but I don't normally read much romance, so I'd love to hear some recommendations if anyone's willing to tell me their favourites!

Lydia (misguidedstarlight) | 7 comments Perhaps it could be any book about relationships, not necessarily romance but family, friendship etc. because some people like to use Valentine's Day to express other kinds of love than just romantic?

message 7: by Dee Gonzalez (new)

Dee Gonzalez (chacho65) How about books that can be related directly or indirectly to Valentine's day..for example. Books on relationships, hearts, red covers, heart in the title, love in the title, Author's last name -Valentine, Heart, Love..something like that?

Shall we say it's going to be a book on relationships of any kind and we can decide ourselves if it's romance or friendship and it can be a book of our own choice which must be completed in February?
We can post which book on here to suggest it to others

message 9: by Amber (new)

Amber Brown (ambernevabrown) Sounds good to me.

message 10: by Dee Gonzalez (new)

Dee Gonzalez (chacho65) Perfect..

message 11: by Dee Gonzalez (new)

Dee Gonzalez (chacho65) I will be reading "For One More Day" - Mitch Albom. I love his work.

message 12: by Dee Gonzalez (new)

Dee Gonzalez (chacho65) Haha I think it's perfect!

They all sound like really good choices. I think I might try Phantom of the opera as I really like the love triangle. I can't decide who i like best based on the snow.

message 15: by Maren (new)

Maren (majormaren) | 6 comments I'm reading clockwork prince now, but then i think i'll read "linger" by maggie stiefvater. that should get me through the month of february.

message 16: by Amber (new)

Amber Brown (ambernevabrown) I'd recommend Warm Bodies for anyone who is unsure what to read. I'm reading it now and am almost done -- I love it. The film comes out February 1st too, so solid timing

message 17: by Liz (new)

Liz I just heard that Pride and Prejudice is 200 years old this year, so I think I'll read that this February.

Good choice it's really nice to watch all the different adaptations once you're finished. If you haven't heard of them yet I would highly recommend the Lizzie bennet diaries.

That book sounds cute. Kind of reminds me of iRobot-

Amber Brown (ambernevabrown) I just finished These Happy Golden Years by Laura Ingalls Wilder. We had to read a book from her series for class, but I chose the one where she falls in love and gets married for this challenge.
Man, those books are a lot slower than I remembered.

I just finihsed my February book, Phantom of the Opera and I loved it! There is a very different dynamic between Christine and Roaul in the book and it's less of a choice between the two male leads it's more of a stuggle for independance and free will.

Lydia (misguidedstarlight) | 7 comments I just finished Warm Bodies (I decided to read that for February as it is marketed as a romance, and I wanted to read it anyway before I see the film adaptation) and I really liked it. It has a lot more depth than the romance and the writing style was really detailed.
