So I can read within my pace? There's no number of pages required, say, for a week, or a day as long as I can finish reading it within the month? Are spoilers permitted?
hehe.. Yeah, you can read it at your own pace.. (unless someone challenges you and you end-up reading whole book within few hours.. :p)
As it's a Monthly book read.. one is expected to read it within said month.. but we keep thread open for another month.. so every one can read and enjoy it in their own time.. :)

And as for the spoilers.. yeah they are permitted.. just see to it that others are in the loop.. (i.e others have read the part you are discussing..)
and if you simply can't hide you feelings and wanna go all out then do mention these spoilers within spoiler tags..

Well I officially started this book this morning. The evens happen quickly in this book. SO far, so good. ^_^
Hello fellow Book Freaks! I'm seriously freakin' out right now...excited and nervous that our group is reading my YA novel, Amethyst, for February, but my heart is a poundin' as I anticipate feedback.I'll follow all the posts, looking forward to your candor. Please know in advance that I truly appreciate any and all comments you wish to share. From the book discussion I hope to gain some insight as to what I'm doing well as a writer but also get some ideas for areas where I could improve, especially as I work on book three.
Please note the most current and updated versions are downloadable at Amazon and Smashwords.com. B&N is soooo slow to update - weeks have gone by...
Lastly, if anyone out there is currently writing and thinking about publishing their own Indie book...boy, do I have some thoughts as to what I would do differently when it comes to self-publishing. I'd be happy to pass those tidbits on! :)
Thanks all!
Heather
Hey Heather!

Hey guys O:Im probably gonna start this book for this Month's...or Well February's month :p
Just downloaded it. I was afraid Barnes and Noble wouldn't have it, but they do.
Almost 600 pages on my nook? Geez o_o That's a lot.
Hopefully it's worth it! c:

Usually the Barnes and Noble ebooks are the same amount of pages as the actual book, or it's less. o_o
My kindle does not even have pages. It has like locations. So its location is something like 44500. So weird.
Ebony(poppyyukia) wrote: "My kindle does not even have pages. It has like locations. So its location is something like 44500. So weird."Same with mine
@soul When you figure it out let me know. Which Kindle do you have?@Marian I hate the locations. On one of my ebooks I could have sworn it had page numbers but then I never figured out how I got it.
@Ebony- Hate it too. Five-figure numbers are really intimidating.Imagine the location numbers when I read Anna Karenina, I swear I thought its not going to end. :))
No luck guys, countless forums n hundreds of random talk but no definitive answer.. I hate kindle numbering system.. but bookmarking and reading sync is so flawless.. that sometimes number of page don't matter at all :)
I am also holding it off, to read it from first week of Feb..(actually I've already started it..)
At Last we are at the dawn of new month! so, Let's get out heads together, and to experience Amethyst!!
:)
:)
I'll start this book on Saturday most likely! I'll probably finish Vicious Deep tonight, which means I can start this one tomorrow, then again it depends how busy I am! D:
:) E'b you are already 10% in :O good! ;)
would you like to give us wannabe's some pointers or hints?? :)
and as for you Slowpoke n Marian, I guess we all are in same boat.. :)
Tonight it is then..

@Slowpoke I LOVE Cinder! I just pre-ordered Scarlet Yesterday! I am like dying for it to be the 5th already! @Soul The only assessment I have so far is that events are pretty quick in this book.
@EbonyI should ask my mother if she'll let me preorder it! Haha. It's not too much.
--------
Reading the first page right now and her writing is just alright. Nothing fantastic, but it's not bad either.
I am going to be honest, I am having a hard time getting into the book. I am not sure what it is. It might be the storyline or that I am just not into this type of book right now. However, that is not going to stop me! It could come out to be a gem by the end.

You totally should! I am so excited about it!
I am on the second chapter and somewhat intrigued. Sometimes it takes me a little while to get into a book but I always give them a shot. And I always finished them.

Totally, authors writing is taking a bit to get used to but.. I can follow her now(I mean what she is saying) Jumping back and forth in (time & events) very first page was a risky move Heather.. but then again we all want our book to open up with a bang! :)

reading 24%, Chapter 5So far, I like its fast pace. Not much mundane details but just enough to imagine scenes. No hitting around the bush, goes straight to the story. Might be posting my progress & comments on my reading updates...that is, if I'll be able to put this down. :) I'm enjoying this.
Done with 5 stars! It was really entertaining. I loved it. Here's a link to my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Happy reading guys!

I feel like the details are just...useless and pointless. :I I mean I like descriptive writing, but sometimes she goes overboard. Now, I haven't gotten past this point yet, but when (Happens in early second chapter)
(view spoiler) Pretty garbage writing so far.
So, Slowpoke
In essence what you are saying is, There should have been more chemistry and solid base for their feelings.. right?

Well, the book was alright. I don't want to say the book was bad because it wasn't. It just wasn't my type of book. My personality does not go well with books of this nature. I needed more depth and I felt like everything was just on the surface. I wanted a world to plunge me into the abyss and that didn't happen. I couldn't feel for the characters because I did not feel like I "knew" them. This is just my opinion and I really think it was more my personally feelings then the quality of the writing.
