The DeFranco Book Club discussion

Hey guys,

I've talked about a Book Club for a while now but never felt comfortable that I would stick with it til this weekend. I bought a kindle paperwhite to make sure I never have an excuse and I'm very excited to read with so many of you.

I'll make a larger post by this weekend when I post the video, but the main points are thank you for joining, I love yo faces, and Im excited to talk with you all :)

OK I need to hurry up and finish the book I am on. Then I need to go pick this book up. Are we going to have a place for suggestions for other books to read?

Yeah...my Resolution was to read more, considering the last full book I read was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows lol So I'm really excited about this!

I totally think we should read a John Green book to start this book club off- he's AMAZING.

Before I hear about your 50 in 52 for last year, the last book I had read was probably Captain Underpants when I was 7, so I gave myself a new years resolution to read at least 30 books! Looking forward to hearing you recommendations! I just hope I can finish the Steve Jobs biography soon so I can start on these

John Green or Matthew Quick. I just started reading Silver Linings Playbook. It's an absolutely incredible book :)

Goodreads just got that much cooler. (I pointed at Mt. Everest's peak)

I am so excited for the PhillyD book club. I dont know how many times i tweeted you asking when it would start.

Enyoy your Kindle! it is just such a nice way to read ones books - It won't win the battle against analogs - but analogs can't win either. the first time you finish a book one the move and have #2 or another book waiting on your device! best feeling ever!

So glad Phil decided to join Goodreads! As for #50in52, I have my own #70in52 list to finish like I do every year, but will mix the two up when fitting. I`m not good at reviewing, though. :/ But I love how this brings literature to more people out there! <3

I can NEVER keep track of the books I read, only cause I'm that girl that pops into B&N every other day with my coffee and I read a new book/finish a book as if B&N were my library..for about 2 hours usually... :P

Well I have to finish the book I am reading now. I usually read a lot last year. Last year I did 30 books but this year I want to do 50. It seems like a lot bit I love to read. Ween I first heard about this I think it would be awesome. I am so happy Phil made this. Excited.

I haven't read a book in years other then the fault in our stars when it was released so this is going to push me to try and read more i might not do 1 a week with my schedule but I will at least do 1 every 2 weeks!

haven't read in a while, but I'm sure this book club will be a complete success. Who knows i might even learn something! Also I love the show, and this is also my first book group. So if anyone wants to make some suggestions for books I'd love to hear them!

Just about done with Enders game. So this works out perfect.

I started reading last year, and I just finished Gatsby so I'm fired up for this. Gonna head into the city to pick up Silver Linings Playbook and Outliers tomorrow! Can't wait to kick off!

Just finished A Feast for Crows (Book...4? of game of thrones) and have to say after that, i just need some laid back reading. So great timing sir!

I have never been that much I a reader, and the last book I fully read was Angels and Demons in high school.... I'm wanting to change that. Thanks for creating this Phil! I'm excited to get in to the first book.

I'm in English Literature, which means I'm presently reading 25 books in a 13 week semester. I won't be able to read all the books in this club, but I'll try my best to read as many as I can! A great idea Phil!! :D

As a recent post-graduate of college, i've been looking for a way to keep me accountable and driven to continue reading. Thanks for setting this up and I look forward to getting this going!

I'm working on the Game of Thrones series now but would really like to do more reading and your show today inspired me to join in.

About time you started this. You got me reading when you recomended Hungergames and been reading ever since.

I just got my Kindle Paperwhite two weeks ago and I was looking for book suggestions. I was so excited to learn about the book club because it gives me options. I just got Outliers so I'll start reading that tomorrow! Thanks for starting this up.

im really looking forward to this, i always struggle to find something to read and wanted to be partvof a book club! half way through outliers now and im thouroughly impressed by this book

I'm so glad this is happening! I've been wanting to read more, and I cant wait to discuss and review these books with all of you.

I will be doing this book club via the audio books. but that's because I work 16 hours a day but can have head phones in for a very good chunk of time of the day.

I'm sorry, I'm a little confused as to the next book. The Bookshelf is showing 3 books two of which have apparently been read, although "The art of racing in the rain" has a finished date of 02/07/2013... does this mean that it is the next book and we should have read it by then, or that it has already been read (as it is listed as having been finished) and we are to read "Looking for Alaska" instead? Sorry for my ignorance I am new and only just joined minutes ago.
