Book 4 Dance with the Devil (Feb 15 to Feb 28)
I look forward to this book. I tell you Zarek really reminded me of Zsadist from BDB, and once sunshine sent him that bowl, I knew his book was probably next!Woo hoo!
I hope I am not "really" cheating because I just started this book 2 mins ago.I tried to wait but I just have to know about Zarek, okay? I mean, he kept the bowl for crying out loud. He kept the bowl!!!

you are cracking me up.....cheater.... ♥ it!!
LMAO Melissa, but that meant a lot. Remember Talon said he would smash it against the wall etc. But nope, He was thankful for the bowl. You realize that is the first time someone probably gave Zarek something without expecting anything in return. She saved his humanity.(*whispers, Melissa, come on, read with me, but don't tell Dawn)
Ezinwanyi~Mord'Sith wrote: "I mean, he kept the bowl for crying out loud. He kept the bowl..."I spoke too soon. Page one of book 4---Damn, damn, damn!
(*whispers back ~ I have a book to finish tonight but I can join the bad girl group and start it tomorrow, lol)I just returned book #3 to the library (yikes - I thought he smashed it at the end of book #3 because it made him feel something?!?)
~Melissa~ wrote: "(*whispers back ~ I have a book to finish tonight but I can join the bad girl group and start it tomorrow, lol)I just returned book #3 to the library (yikes - I thought he smashed it at the end of..."
I forgot that (or I didn't want to remember), so page #1 prologue was the last page of book 3 and there it was. (**sobbing, Noooo, noooo, nooo, not the bowl)
damn I was right... I still think it made him feel something that's why he felt the need to smash it.
~Melissa~ wrote: "damn I was right... I still think it made him feel something that's why he felt the need to smash it."It did. I am page 9. I won't read this when I get home from the train. I have to finish Cassie Palmer on audio, so I will do that at home today, so I will stop in 15 mins.
so I won't get far anyway by Friday at this rate
are you reading (listening to)the first Cassie Palmer? If yes, that one took me forever to get into. I liked the second one though....maybe too many people to get to know in the first
listening to it. she just found out about Tomas (Ch. 3). I am trying to take my time because everyone warned me that it gets confusing at times. So I am not rushing through it. And I wait until kids are in bed so I can just relax and pay attention
Bad bad girls....It really is fine, I've been overwhelmed this week and havent finished book 3. So I probably won't start on time anyway.

Is this a re-read for you Dawn or first time through??
~Melissa~ wrote: "Is this a re-read for you Dawn or first time through??"
It is a re-read. I've read the whole series, some more than once.
I think I've read Zareks story twice.
Nope, actually it has been a while and I was confused at the top when it was said he kept the bowl. I was thinking but he didn't... has it been this long that I have forgotten then I saw i was right. Zarek, Vane, Wren, and of course Acheron are my favorites, I've read/listened to them all mutiple times.
All the characters seem interesting. I did like Vane - I don't remember Wren. It's funny because every time I dislike a character when I get to their book stuff makes sense and I *usually* end up liking them, lol

If so it was only in passing like Sunshine in book 1. He works at Sanctuary and doesn't get a book until #9.
They mentioned his name but Vane is the one who got face time. So i assume his book will be next in line
Ezinwanyi~Mord'Sith wrote: "They mentioned his name but Vane is the one who got face time. So i assume his book will be next in line"Yeah, either Vane or Wulf is next. I don't remember which.
I totally agree w/you about Artemis ~ she tends to piss me off a lot!! I haven't been able to get that far into this book yet. Zarek has just made it back to Alaska and had to go into town for a new generator. Just found a *welcoming* committee at his friend's house.
Ezinwanyi~Mord'Sith wrote: "I can see why people love Acheron. I want to put my fist in Artemis' face. She is so gross."I usually refer to her as the heifer goddess. After you meet Simi, you will understand.

Simi is just a hungry beast:)
Simi would be an awesome friend - everyone needs someone that just says whatever!! Who wants some BBQ,lolHeifer goddess - love it but maybe it should be Heifer bitch goddess. She sucks!
I'm about 200 pages in - having a hard time putting it down. I really like Astrid's personality and not taking Zarek's crap!
I also like HBG, cuz she is a bitch!I can't put this one down either....one or two of my monthly planned books will ended up being kicked to March because I may go right into the next book, I'm catching the fever
Sorry Melissa,I finished this one yesterday because I couldn't put it down. The weather was so gorgeous yesterday (74 degrees) so we were outside all day. Hubby was out of town so I took the kids and my parents in-law out, then we went to a birthday party, then we went to the park. We didn't get back until 7ish. After dinner and baths, we all knocked out.
I hope you finished too.
I really appreciate that this story wasn't like the story before. I am almost afraid to read the next book because I don't want to come off the high.
One more time for the record: I HATE HBG!
I finished it late last night. I had to see how it ended! Yep HGB just sucks and appears to always only think of herself.
Are the novellas necessary - I don't normally read them....will that be a problem??
(view spoiler)
NO, I will NOT accept her as his HEA. I don't believe it. She doesn't love HIM, she loves aspects of him and his power, but she doesn't see his heart. Acheron is so selfless and thoughtful of his men & others, there is no way she can be his HEA. She is the opposite of him and he couldn't really respect her as she is. She isn't worthy to stay by him for eternity. She is like the pain he and Zarek exist with. They are familiar, even comfortable with it, but ultimately, HGB isn't the kind of person who could bring him peace and content.
Please, Zeus, somebody, drop a house on that witch, stat!
I have the books already, so let me know when you are ready to rock-n-roll. It's Wulf's book (Talon's bestie!)
BTW, I enjoyed Jess, once I saw he wasn't a betrayer and Spawn too.
@Dawn: sorry we are screwing up the schedule
Oh yea,Nah, I don't have those novellas, but I can try and get them if you want to read them.
Maybe we can Start Book 5 the first week of March (It doesn't appear we need 2 weeks to read a book)

I wasn't really planning on reading the novellas. I just wasn't sure if it screws the story line if you don't read them, lol I tend to read novellas when I can fit them in - not neccessarily in the order it is supposed to go. I read all the Kate and Curran novellas in one sitting after I read all the books that were out at the time.

Just let me know when you get books 5 & 6 (LOL)
~Melissa~ wrote: "Are the novellas necessary - I don't normally read them....will that be ..."
Not all the novellas are necessary. Some I think help the story. Most are not crucial to the plot.
I will put up threads for the other books. I am going to leave the schedule as is but feel free to discuss ahead of time. I remember my first time through being on a dark hunter high. I listened at work with a co-worker and we had a break down because there were 3-4 books at that time that wern't on audio that we had to read seperately at home and it through off our whole listening at work chi. lol
I'm reading them as I have the paperback that this nutty lady sold at a garage sale for $1 a book. She frightened me when she started talking about her and her man's sex life (as she told me that this was her favorite series). She said her man wouldn't bite her neck hard enough like in the book.
I wanted to say "well, he isn't a vampire"...but this discussion at a Saturday morning garage sale was just a bit much for 9am. So I just bought the books and jumped in my car

Thanks!! It's hard to stop these!!
I know, what a great investment that was collecting dust in the garage. I am really afraid to move forward though. Wulf hasnt featured much and Vane didn't do it for me like Talon & Zarek. I hope they are good because I am on a DH high.Question: Did AStrid ever tell Zarek that she saw him through the wolf's eyes?
I don't think she ever did tell him about that. When he took her blindness and gave her his sight - was she able to keep that in the end?? I feel like I should re-read the ending...how sad am I,lol
I just want to read the book again. Favorite line, AStrid, make love to me...I can't believe she broke him down because that was not a sentence I thought I would ever hear bad ass Zarek utter!(LMAO, I love it).
Books mentioned in this topic
Seduction and Snacks (other topics)Kiss of the Night (other topics)

Dark-Hunter: A soulless guardian who stands between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. Yeah, right. The only part of that Code of Honor I got was eternity and solitude.
Insanity: A condition many say I suffer from after being alone for so long. But I don't suffer from my insanity-I enjoy every minute of it.
Trust: I can't trust anyone...not even myself. The only thing I trust in is my ability to do the wrong thing in any situation and to hurt anyone who gets in my way.
Truth: I endured a lifetime as a Roman slave, and 900 years as an exiled Dark-Hunter. Now I'm tired of enduring. I want the truth about what happened the night I was exiled-I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Astrid (Greek, meaning star): An exceptional woman who can see straight to the truth. Brave and strong, she is a point of light in the darkness. She touches me and I tremble. She smiles and my cold heart shatters.
Zarek: They say even the most damned man can be forgiven. I never believed that until the night Astrid opened her door to me and made this feral beast want to be human again. Made me want to love and be loved. But how can an ex-slave whose soul is owned by a Greek goddess ever dream of touching, let alone holding, a fiery star?
