Lela (lacslc) | 9 comments I vote for Dead Simple or Edwin of the Iron Shoes.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

No problem Skye. My comment was meant that you and JaneandJerry would be the last ones to vote. Just trying to add some humor.
In any case, what a tight race.
I should mention that when we vote here, this isn't a winner take all. If people are interested in more than one book, then I will schedule that book to be read as well just like I did for Hades. It's my way of saying that I want everyone to be happy that the the book they are voting for has a good chance to be read.

message 20: by Marian (new)

Marian I vote for Dead Simple by Peter James:)

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

And the race gets even tighter. You can vote for another book Marian.

message 22: by Marian (new)

Marian Meg Gardiner - Phantom Instinct..is this one ok?

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

It's okay to vote for it as a second book, yes. Regarding the book itself, I haven't read it but I will quote Meg Gardiner from her last e-mail to me.

If you want to nominate Phantom Instinct for the group to read, you can let them know that it was an O, the Oprah magazine “Best Books of Summer” selection.

message 24: by Marian (new)

Marian Then I vote this as a second book Ron..thank you kindly:)

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Anytime.

Sandysbookaday (taking a step back for a while) (sandyj21) I would like to vote for Dead Simple and Long Gone please 8:D

For other people who want to vote and are unfamiliar with the authors, feel free to check out the pages for Goodreads and Amazon. You will see that all the authors here have made some fantastic accomplishments.

I think that since the voting has stopped, some things have to be looked at. The main thing is that while Peter James did win by a very close vote, what's revealing here is that the people who voted were interested in most of the books that were on display. As you know, I'm not into the winner take all here and since people who voted showed a strong interested in most of the books,
I'm going to do something similar that I did a few months ago and create a 4 way tie for second by voting for Stay and Long Gone. So at this point, we will have our group reads settled her for the next five months.

Below is a tentative schedule

June 20-July 20th - Dead Simple By Peter James
July 20- August 20th - Edwin Of The Iron Shoes by Marcia Muller
August 20 - September 20th - Phantom Instinct by Meg Gardiner
September 20 - October 20 - Stay by Victor Gischler
October 20 - November 20 - Long Gone by Alafair Burke

I will consider The Adversary by Reece Hirsch for November 20 - December 20 if people agree that they would like to read it since that came in 3rd. If not, then we can have a vote in October.

Since we won't be voting for several months here, I would like to experiment by having a second group read in the beginning of the month for a popular book that was on the bookshelf. If there is enough interest, then we could have 2 group reads on some months if people want to do that. E-mail me to let me know what you think.

Lela (lacslc) | 9 comments I love having a schedule and I wanted to read all the books on the list so this works for me. I'm not sure I could do 2 a month in this group so I won't sign up for that. Thanks for thinking of the schedule plan! Hope it works out for everyone.

Lela

Sandysbookaday (taking a step back for a while) (sandyj21) I probably can't do two books a month for this group either as i belong to a few groups and like to participate in most of the group reads.....but whatever works for the majority is fine with me! And thank you Ron for doing such a great job 8:D

message 32: by [deleted user] (last edited May 25, 2015 05:20PM) (new)

Thanks Sandy and Lela. If we need to leave things as is, then I'm just as happy doing that. To me, I like the idea of the author leading our discussion. It makes our group read more interesting and fun.

message 33: by Lela (new)

Lela (lacslc) | 9 comments I like that, too.

message 34: by Audrey (new)

Audrey (niceyackerman) I think that schedule will work fine.

message 35: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie Drummond | 13 comments Never begin to one tell me more please.

message 36: by Carla (new)

Carla (carla1957) I like the schedule. I am in for one a month as I am in 5 different groups and they all try to do a book each month. Unfortunately by the time I got Hades, the group read was over, but I am still going to read it.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds good Carla. Hope to see you in the group read for Delirious. We'll have the next book by Candice Fox for a vote in November.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Glad to hear it.

message 39: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 2290 comments I'm going to start reading Dead Simple (Roy Grace, #1) by Peter James

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds great Christine. I'm really enjoying the book and I'm halfway done in just two nights. Didn't get a chance to read it last night because I was out late but I'm anxious to get back to it tonight.
There are a lot of surprises in Dead Simple. I'm sure you'll enjoy it and look forward to hearing your comments.
