The Ruins The Ruins question

What DID make the vines talk and come to life?

Evolution.

The book is far better.

Pretty easy read. Not very believable, but maybe thats not the point of this genre. It was very average in my opinion. Both the book and the movie.

It's a moot question... the book was awful. Well written, but a complete waste of time.

Mutation.

The film was OK but the book was really good, maybe not great but good. I think there's no need to explain everyting to the last bit, mistery is far more appealing to me.

Shane Misery, yes, the book is full of it.

book

Book all the way. Mind you, I thought the movie was good - not great - but good. I'd even say it's entertaining.

I read the book a few weeks before the movie's release. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I was so creeped out by how the vines acted to the point where I felt it in my own legs.

As to why the vines can move and mimic sound. Evolution like Scott said?

The need to scare the people so it could feed on them.

Wow, do people come to this discussion just to downvote every response?? I don't get it...

I haven't read the book since it's release but i thought there was a vauge explanation that there was a vibration coming from the flowers that could mimic thier voices and other sounds, like the cell phone.
