In the book A Time to Kill, a young black girl is brutally raped and beaten by two white men. Then her dad Carl Lee kills the men in cold blood at the court house in front of many witnesses. The only lawyer that would take the case was a white man named Jake. He was harassed and almost killed by the ku klux klan, which one of the brothers Carl Lee killed was a part of. During the trial one of the officers that Carl Lee accidentally shot while killing the two men testified to let him be released because he would have done the same thing which I think is what ended up winning his cases and him being released. "If you win this case, justice will prevail, and if you lose, justice will also prevail. Now that is a strange case." That was said by Lucien and means that so many people got fed up with what was going on in the town that now people are getting sick of it and are starting to do something about it. So whether Carl Lee gets off or doesn't he made an impact on the community that will never be forgotten. I would recommend this book to everyone because there are wise words in it and it is overall a good story. I would rate the book a three and a half out of five because it can teach you life lessons, but there are some boring parts in it that make the book drag on.
