Simon Rhoads | 2 comments There is a swell book called, My Life as a Quant: Reflections on Physics and Finance it is by this physicist Emanuel Derman. This book is an autobiography type of book. It goes about being mostly about his college career. Then goes and tells you his goal on being a world recognized physicist. Tells you also about how he meet his love of his life, aka his wife. Then he told us about his journey on become a PhD in physic. Then he goes and tells us his anger about his struggles on his journey, with having a kid and how nobody would give him a shot. 2)I would give this book a 3.5. 3) The reason on why would give in a 3.5 is because he made easy for people to understand on what is a quant and what they actually do. A quant is a person how use quantitative methods and computers to solve problems. And since I love math I have been looking at many different methods of math and physics. Another reason I like this book is because on how he keeps you in the book. The last reason is because he work for a investment firm by the name of Goldman Sachs, and he showed me how I can connect my two loves together. Finance and numbers. 4) I think this book would be good for anybody who is looking onto working for their PhDs. Because he goes into detail in how hard it was. Then if somebody who is looking into going to finance. The reason is because gives examples on home it felt like at working at a finance firm.
