Lies & Legacy is a quick, entertaining book about heroine Frankie Barrett, a strong, feisty woman, who decides to leave her small town, country life after the death of her grandparents to discover what life is like in the big city. She soon gets a job as a stylist for a TV station and begins making new friends. But she still feels guilty about leaving her childhood sweetheart Chad behind who seems like a lost puppy without her. However, his so-called devotion to Frankie is more a ruse than real as she soon discovers. Feeling betrayed and angry, she vows to protect her inheritance with all she's got.

In this book, Coner has created some interesting characters that really draw you into the story. Besides independant, fearless Frankie and her con artist sweetheart Chad, we're introduced to Claire, her loyal, love-hungry, husband-seeking best friend; Meredith, the insecure news anchor diva that Frankie loves to constantly torment (to our amusement); and Gabe, the new, good-looking, station weatherman that Frankie wants to get to know better. Coner does a wonderful job of weaving all her characters together to tell a great story that comes together with a believable climatic event. A superb read!

Lies & Legacy is quite a page-turner. I couldn't wait to see how it would end. I read the entire book in the course of one day, because I just couldn't make myself leave it alone. The heroine is an independent and determined woman. The character of Frankie is well-developed and believable. She has the outward self-confidence many women wish for. The supporting characters kept me guessing, right up to the twist at the end. I cheered for Frankie throughout the story and especially at the end!

Lies & Legacy is about coming to the end of your rope, tying a knot in it and holding on. As in some of Coner's other works, we are reminded of the power of being true to ourselves and the power of friendship. Never be afraid to grab one of this author's books. You will enjoy the journey!
