Kaitlyn | 678 comments The Forbidden Forest, also known as Dark Forest borders the edges of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry grounds.

The forest is a very old place that holds many secrets and houses many creatures, some dark and Dangerous, others friendly. The trees in the forest are considered ancient, they are dense and rough looking from years of exposure to the elements. As the forest's name suggests, it is strictly off limits to students — except in the case of detention, or Care of Magical Creatures lessons that occasionally take place there. Of course, with the various dangerous creatures living in the Forest, few students would even want to venture into it. Black flowers are known to grow in the forest.

Kate It was past midnight. Alice stood in an empty clearing in the forest, holding her palms out in front of her. Red light was emitted, sparking in front of her eyes. Alice's face screwed up in concentration and the light grew brighter. All of a sudden she dropped to her knees and the red light faded. She wasn't strong enough.

message 3: by Kaitlyn (last edited Jul 22, 2015 09:34PM) (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava was wandering through the woods. She had just woken up from sleep walking, so she was in her pajamas. Of course, they were Mickey Mouse. She had her black converse on (she normally wore shoes to bed) and was confusingly lost. Ava saw a flash of red light and decided to get closer. She stepped on a twig then froze, scared that the person, whoever it was, heard her. Ava had no clue who would be in the forest this late- surely someone who's up to something. Ava was thinking of all the creatures who lived in the forest and began to feel cold with fear of not being able to find her way out.

message 4: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice's head snapped up, hearing a branch or twig break. She stood slowly turning around in a circle. The centuars usually didn't venture this close to the school. Maybe it was something else, she thought a chill running down her spine. Or maybe it was a teacher, about to catch her past hours in the forest, ready to expel her. Her breath caught and she neared the edge of the clearing. And then Alice spotted a girl. "Who are you?" she said.

message 5: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava noticed that the girl, yes it was a girl, noticed her presence. Ava instinctively ducked down out of sight, but she knew it was too late. She was already spotted. "Er.." She said quietly, not knowing what to say. Ava had no idea who this girl was or even if she was a student. "I'm somebody but nobody," she said quickly, not thinking. It was the first thing that popped into her head. Ava didn't want to give a random stranger her name. It would be foolish, and she wasn't mental. She actually had common sense, though it's not so common anymore.

message 6: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice raised an eyebrow. "What?" she said then shook her head. "Nevermind, it doesn't matter. Listen you should really go. Being out here this late is a bad idea, especially nowadays." She cast a dark look over her shoulder back at the clearing. She needed to break that barrier and this stranger was getting in her way. "Don't tell anyone I was here."

message 7: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "I would go, I just don't know how," she muttered to herself. "Why is it a bad idea?" She asked the girl, curious. "And if it is, why are you here?" She asked calmly. "No promises," Ava said sweetly. She would tell the first professor she sees if the girl didn't convince her not to. "What are you doing?" She wondered aloud.

message 8: by Kate (new)

Kate "Wow you ask a lot of quesrions," Alice huffed. "I'm only telling you this because your a potential threat to me being expelled." She pushed a hand through her hair, looked around, and cast a silencio spell over the clearing. "I have the Sight. Every night when I go to sleep I get visions of the future and they always come true unless I interfere. Recently I've been getting visions of this part of the forest. There's a barrier blocking something, I don't know what. But it's bad. Really bad. If I don't destroy whatever is behind this before it comes out on its own, people will die." Alice slumped against a tree. "Happy?"

message 9: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava listened carefully and was silent for a minute. "If you even need help, I am willing," she said simply. She stood up straight from her hiding place and approached the girl. "I am here. I can help in any way you need," she said calmly. Ava desperately wanted to help. And she was a bright witch too, which might come in handy to Alice. "I'm Ava," she introduced, holding out a hand to shake.

message 10: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice bit her lip, unsure. "Alice," she said and shook the girl's hand. Alice had forseen many things but assistance was never part of them. Every time she had to do something, she did it alone, and quietly. This girl didn't seem the quiet type. Alice's whole style was never letting people know the danger they had avoided. There was no reason to let them panic. So she didn't really want help, but thinking back to a few minutes before, she knew she needed it. "I'll let you help me," Alice said, "but you can never tell anyone about what we did tonight. If you can't do that, then you must leave now."

message 11: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Nice to meet you Alice," Ava said, looking straight into her eyes. Ava laughed quietly. "Oh me? I have so many secrets, you don't even know. Good luck getting this night out of me, I'd never tell," she said seriously. "What do you need me to do?" Ava asked.

message 12: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice smirked. She stood up straight and walked to the center of the clearing. "Do you know how to perform any wandless magic? I first tried to break this barrier with one but it repelled any spell I shot at it. Wandless magic is the only kind that will work to destroy it."

message 13: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava grinned. "I do," she told Alice. Ava had been researching it for years and had for about a year, been able to use wandless magic. Ava had also learned about silent spells, and has mastered them. Ava is an exceptional witch, although few actually know it.

message 14: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice nodded in approval. Wandless magic was extremely difficult to master. "Fantastic. Well, what we need to do is use the most destructive spell we can, not including the unforgivable three, and direct it towards the space in between those two pine trees." Alice indicated the spot. Two tall pine trees stood at least 10 feet apart, marking the placement of the shield. "I've been using Bombarda."

message 15: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Have you tried Bombarda Maxima?" Ava asked. "It creates a larger explosion than just Bombarda," she informed Alice.

message 16: by Kate (new)

Kate "True. Never really thought about it. I've been busy with schoolwork from morning to evening and then this," Alice mused. "I haven't exactly gotten much sleep lately. That's a good catch, Ava."

message 17: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Ah, well I see why you haven't been getting sleep lately. And thank you," Ava said calmly. She was tired, but didn't feel like going anywhere.

message 18: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice positioned herself in front of the barrier. "Alright," she drew in a deep breath. "Are you ready?"

message 19: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Ready when you are," Ava said calmly. "Oh wait!" She said suddenly. "I thought of another one we could use, if you're interested," Ava told Alice.

message 20: by Kate (new)

Kate "What is it?" she asked, intrigued. Anything that could open that barrier sooner, she was open to.

message 21: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Well we could always try Confringo or Diffindo. Do you know those two? I can explain if you'd like.." Ava trailed off.

message 22: by Kate (new)

Kate "I do know those. Do you think they would be as efficient?" Alice asked.

message 23: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "I honestly don't know, but we could try all of them," Ava suggested with a shrug.

message 24: by Kate (new)

Kate "How about you do one and I do Bombarda Maxima simultaneously. It could break it in record time."

message 25: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "I could try," Ava told her nervously. "Should I use Confringo or Diffindo?" She asked.

message 26: by Kate (new)

Kate "If I remember correctly, Diffindo is more powerful," she said. Alice then noticed the nervous look on Ava's face. "Hey," she said. "Are you alright? You can still turn back if you're scared."

message 27: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "No it's fine," Ava said with a smile. "I just haven't done this in a while. I've been focusing on... Different kinds of magic," she told Alice. "Okay, I'll use Diffindo," Ava said calmly.

message 28: by Kate (new)

Kate She was curious. Different magic? She wondered what Ava meant by that but held her tongue; Alice had a feeling that it wasn't any of her business. She nodded. "Okay. Stand your ground and cast the spell as strong as you can on three." Alice took a deep breath and rolled her shoulders. "One...two...three!"

message 29: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Okay," Ava said calmly. Ava stood and held her hands out. When Alice shouted three, Ava cast her spell, purple light emitting from her.

message 30: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice's spell cast brighter than before, emitting a powerful crimson. It struck the barrier as Ava's purple magic did. Alice watched it carefully, almost holding her breath. She noticed a slight waver in the air. "It's working!" she called to Ava.

message 31: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava nodded and continued to use her magic. She forgot the reason she was doing this, and was wondering what was in the other side. But she remained quiet and continued.

message 32: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice's energy was starting to drain but still she kept her focus. After another 30 seconds, the shield dropped, revealing what looked like a portal. It was a swirling mass of blues and greens, spirling into a blinding white center.

message 33: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments The shield dropped and Ava gaped at the portal. "What is that?" She asked Alice

message 34: by Kate (new)

Kate "I have no clue," she mumbled. "Its not what I was expecting. I thought we were going to be fighting an army of squids or something..." Alice edged nearer to it, feeling the temperature increase.

message 35: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava followed behind Alice. "Do we.. Do we go in it?" She whispered to Alice.

message 36: by Kate (new)

Kate "No. No we absolutely do not. Its a risk to even go near it," she said. Her mind began racing and a vision swam in her head. Alice's eyelids fluttered closed as her Sight worked itself. "No definitely not. I'd even back up a few paces," she said and backed up herself.

message 37: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava blushed as she was scolded by Alice. She backed up a few steps. "What's on the other side?" She asked quietly, in awe of the colors. They were mesmerizing and it felt like it was.. Calling to her. Like Ava had to go inside of it.

message 38: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice sighed. "I just had a vision and I can tell you that if we go in there, we will cease to exist. That thing probably started as a mere dot and has been absorbing the energy from the forest and growing bigger each day. Its a parasite," Alice concluded. Her eyes burned from the heat gathering in the clearing now that there was nothing to block it. She stepped back another pace.

message 39: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava looked at the portal and stepped back. "How do we get rid of it? Should we get a teacher?" Ava asked nervously.

message 40: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice's eyes widened. "Absolutely not. The rules were not to ever speak of this, Ava. We can't let anyone know of this. If we do they'll call Aurors to come and its midnight. It will takes them at least a few hours because you can't apparate inside of Hogwarts and by then the parasite could grow twice the size. Not to mention we'll be thrown out of school," Alice wrung her wrists. "No, we have to do this on our own." She began thinking hard. How could she kill this? It was pure energy and firing spells at it would probably make it gain energy. She was at a loss.

message 41: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava smiled. "Oh, but you can apparate. You just have to know the right people," she said calmly. "I don't think we'd be thrown out of school. Think of how many people broke dozens of school rules without expulsion. Harry Potter, for instance. And this is serious. We need some backup, I think," Ava said, telling Alice her opinion. "They're bound to see the light if they look out of a window. It's blinding," she added.

message 42: by Kate (new)

Kate "Ava, Harry Potter was the boy who lived. All his life he's been given exceptions to any rule. We're not exactly the same as him," she frowned. She glanced back at the parasite. She really didn't know how to destroy it and profession help probably was best but she knew she had to stop it. That's how her Sight worked. It had to be her no matter what.

message 43: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments "Well, I know a girl with several connections. If she was involved, she would be a guarantee that we don't get expelled." Ava bit her lip. She was nervous about the portal. "It's okay to admit you need help. Don't be prideful and sacrifice your needs, or even yourself. We need help, Alice," she said calmly. "You don't need all of this.. Responsibility. It's fine to ask for help. We could have Professor Longbottom contact some Aurors- I know he knows some. And he's cool- he'd help us the best he can. We're here at Hogwarts to learn and make mistakes. It's part of life! There will always be help offered here."

message 44: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice bit her lip and glanced back at it. "Okay," she said. "Go get her or a professor. I'll stay here and try and figure how to contain its energy for now. I don't think we can afford to let it grow much more." The portal looking thing had grown to about half the size of the pine trees.

message 45: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava bit her lip. "You should go- I don't know the way back. Get professor McGonagall or professor Longebottom," Ava told Alice. "And hurry!"

message 46: by Kate (new)

Kate Alice furrowed her eyebrows. Ava had helped her well enough so far but she wasn't sure she wanted to leave her alone in this clearing, in the middle of the night, surrounded by a forest containing loads of terrifying creatures. But Alice was a huge worrier and knew it. Finally she said, "Alright. I'll be back as soon as I can. Stay away from the parasite, Ava, or you won't exist anymore." And with that warning, she turned on her heel and ran through the woods, nervous thoughts flitting through her head.

message 47: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments Ava backed away further from the portal and sat down on a rock. "What would shut it?" she wondered aloud. About ten minutes had past and Ava began to get nervous- the portal had grown quite a bit.

((Kate, do you have any plans for this roleplay? I can roleplay as a teacher if you want. :))

message 48: by Kate (new)

Kate ((Honestly no I don't. I've kind of been making things up as I go... also I can't continue this right now. Can we maybe pick this up tomorrow or the next day?))

message 49: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn | 678 comments ((Sure! See you soon. If you have any ideas for this you'd like to share, then you can message me on here. :))
