Only real crime book I read this year, not really detective book but very good mystery and hysterical.

Moderator hat on: Apologies, Keith, but self promoting isn't allowed in this thread. I'll be removing your post, but there are plenty of promotional opportunities in the group's Authors' Corner. Thanks.

It's a great book. I remember after reading it, I just sat for days thinking about all of the misunderstandings that brought things about.

Elizabeth (elizabeth8921) | 7780 comments Agreed! It made me a Ruth Rendell fan for life. I know she passed away this year but she wrote alot of books to read.

I hear she was writing a book when she passed on.

James Hayward Got the first 3 Chris Carter books for Christmas and then bought the rest in the Robert Hunter series. I would highly recommend reading them the best books I have read this year you can not stop reading them.

message 24: by Elise (new)

Elise Stone (eliseinaz) | 7 comments I don't see "thriller" in the topic title, but I'm assuming it's allowed, so the best book I've read (so far) this year is Missing You by Harlan Coben. He's a master at plotting and use of language.

Jamie Humm Some new authors on here for me to check out.

Has anyone read 'The Telling Error' by Sophie Hannah. It sold really well but I must admit didn't really enoy it which is unusual for me.

Currently enjoying the Collaborator by Gerald Seymour.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

I've just finished The Envoy by C.L. McMahon. A follow up to his 2011 novel The Heretic. A great fast paced, very descriptive, action packed thriller. I thoroughly enjoyed it and love supporting relatively new, unknown authors.

I'm keen to get some recommendations on here for other new authors to try in the crime/thriller genre.

message 43: by Harriet (new)

Harriet (harrietstay) | 49 comments So far this year: I found author Wiley Cash's two books and loved both: A LAND MORE KIND THAN HOME and A DARK ROAD TO MERCY. A lot of pro and con has been written about Paula Hawkins' THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN. I've taken many train rides across the U.S., known ordinary people who were alcoholics so I accepted the author's view on her character's behavior (Rachel). She was spot on, so I just went along for the ride. THE FIFTH GOSPEL by Ian Caldwell (pretty heavy stuff) was a must read and glad I did since I read and enjoyed his first about ten years ago, THE RULE OF FOUR. James Anderson's THE NEVER-OPEN DESERT DINER was a delightful story and superbly told. How could anyone pass up a title like that?

Sandysbookaday (taking a step back for a while) (sandyj21) | 4770 comments Didaa wrote: "And Then There Were None"

i listened to this walking to work and back about a month ago. It was a BBC production and excellent. I really enjoyed the story line as well as all the special effects. And they had a different person narrating each different character. Far superior to most audio productions. 8:D
