Having left his laboratory after that rude bit of tresspassing, Tony found himself outside again. He was trying to enjoy the cool weather as much as possible, knowing that when late spring and early summer rolled around, he'd be in it for a hot nightmare. Keeping his hoodie zipped up right to the top, in order to hide his blue Node, Anthony made his way to the Track and Field area, seating himself in the middle of the bleachers. He felt a lot more relaxed now. There were no people here, he had time to draw design sketches and do homework without being disturbed, and it was peaceful. And he didn't have to worry about setting up JARVIS into the system anymore; that was all done now. Peace. I love peace, he thought to himself, but the feeling was bittersweet.opening his Calculus workbook, he began to start on homework.

Hayley | 40 comments Steve was running round the track trying to rid himself of thoughts of his now dead friends. Everytime he thought he might break down and cry, he pushed himself harder and ended up running round the track quicker. He supposed it was a good job he was a supersolider or else he would have keeled over by now and probably seriously damaged something to. He just wished he had some time to grieve and move on but the world wasn't allowing him to. They needed their hero- their Captain America, their Patron of freedom but Steve, Steve needed time to mourn and get passed his friends deaths because it was only 6 weeks ago he was talking to Falsworth and the rest of the Howling Commando's. It was only 4 months since Bucky had died. If it was war he could understand but it wasn't war. He had time. Lot's of it from what he gathered as he didn't exactly age normally.

[Sorry I disappeared on you like that! I fell asleep :/]

Over the sound of his 1980s Rock music that was thrumming in his ears, Tony could pick out the firm sound of footsteps being thrust hard upon the rubbery, ochre-coloured track. Looking up from the plasma screen of his self-constructed phone, Tony perceived a person running, but there was something off about it. The running didn't seem laboured, just angry. The person was clearly an older student at the school, but his body was that of a bodybuilder, and everything about him read 'hero' and 'military' to Tony Stark. Then, it clicked. Popping a frozen blueberry into his mouth after peeling open the packet, Tony frowned as he chewed, thinking. That's the guy my dad never shut up about. Steve Rogers, the laboratory experiment that had been a success. Before the great was of 1939, Howard Stark had been part of a group of Scientists that had been trying to conduct an experiment with super-serum to enhance the qualities in people. His father had designed and built the machine, and it had worked. As a result, he took pride in telling Tony all the time about how great that experiment was, how great their subject had been, blah. Blah. Blah. Tony had often been jealous of the way Howard had talked about this mystery boy, his masterpiece. He was never prideful when it came to his own son, however, and it had always gotten to Tony- pierced him, wounded him, pissed him off.

Steve decided to stop running before he scared some poor kid again like last time as he didn't want another trip to Fury's office about coping in the modern world. He dealt with technology just fine as after all he was used to the latest tech due to dealing with Howard Stark for most of the war. He wasn't stupid and the technology was created for ease of use so it wasn't exactly hard to learn how to use it even if it did confuse him at first. So it wasn't that, that was the problem. No the problem was that he was on his own in a world were he didn't know anybody and his friends were all dead. He supposed it was partly his own fault as he hadn't exactly made an effort to make friends but he felt like the odd one out here. He knew everything they were teaching him and he wasn't a child anymore. He hadn't been since he parents died really. He was used to taking care of himself and others, so being coped up in this school wasn't helping. He just felt like a prisoner as they wouldn't let him leave.

Abigail (abi_cook) | 147 comments Bucky walked into the area and saw Steve "hey Rogers what's up with you this time?". He knew Steve had issues but cared about his friend and how he was deeling with everything here at this school? Somewhere like that. He walked to his friend knowing they were helping each other with everything they could Bucky's memory and Steve's need to have some freedom inside this place. He jogged to Steve and smiled at his best friend "I've been looking for you"

Tony's eyes widened a little as the boy stopped running, and he quickly looked back down at his phone, aware that he had probably been staring like an idiot. Now that his gaze wasn't fixated on the very toned guy that had been running, jealousy was starting to build up- hot and angry and firm in Tony's chest, wrenching. That's the guy my dad never shut up about, he thought again, and again, and again. Steven Rogers, the lab rat. It sounded bitter in his mind, sharp. He liked that. The lab rat. Running a hand through his tufty dark hair, Tony shook his head and turned up the music, sniffing lightly. He wanted his dad to love him as much as he fawned over this stranger kid which Tony had never met in person. Simply because Howard's bloody stupid machine had worked... Anthony simply suspected he wasn't good enough. Would he ever admit that to anyone? No. "Do a file check for me, will ya, bud?" He asked his AI through his phone in a soft mutter.
Very well, Sir. Initiating file scan- file scan: complete. Name: Steven Grant Rogers, age: eighteen.
So that mean's we'll be in the same dorm. Tony squared his jaw. Great.

Hayley | 40 comments Steve looked up as his friend spoke to him. "Sorry Buck, didn't meant to worry ya. Just taking my evening jog" he said in response with a light smile that didn't quite reach his eyes but then again barely any of his smiles did these days. He just missed the past too much through he knew he had to let it go at some point as it wasn't healthy to keep living in the past. Just past his friend, he could see another boy my the bleachers, one that looked very familiar even through he couldn't place where from. The way he was standing reminded Steve of Howard Stark, one of his friends from the war but from what he heard Stark would be old now,. "Hello" he called to the boy deciding to be friendly. It couldn't hurt to try to make friends in this world even if he didn't plan on being in the school much longer. It would get Fury off of his back anyway and gave him time to plan his escape. He refused to be cooped up in here, no matter how many times he was told it was for his own good. He was an adult for god sake and one that had seen more than most due to the second world war. He should be able to make his own decisions regarding his future.

"He doesn't pose any danger, does he?" Tony murmured to JARVIS as he leaned back against the bleachers, casually crossing one leg over the other in a lazy fashion.
He could be, should he turn to a different side. However, you may rest assured that he won't be likely to attack you, Sir.
Tony snorted. "Yeah, like he could hurt me," he scoffed. When Tony was all suited up, he'd really like to see this super-soldier or whatever he was hurt him. The suit was a titanium gold alloy, it was strong as all hell. At the sound of a voice being directed towards him, Tony adjusted the metal straps on his wrists to make them more comfy to wear and looked up. Oh. It was him. The hell does he want? He thought, but cleared his throat. "Hello," he replied, brown eyes narrowed just a bit.

He wanted to form his own opinion and while the other boy seemed to be squinting, he hadn't been particularly rude yet. " Did he know the kid had depression?" he asked his friend before turning back to Tony realising they were talking about him like he wasn't even standing there. "Sorry about that," he replied bashfully his arm reaching up around his neck in embarrassment. "My name is Steve, as you can probably tell I haven't been here long and a little bird told me you were the guy to see for ways to get out of this place or for sneaking things in," he said trying to start a conversation. It was true he had heard all those things now he knew who the guy was and thankfully for him the conversation starter was useful information to as it meant if Tony replied he might be able to sneak out if here sometime soon.

Tony's eyes narrowed even further at a familiar voice and he gave an exasperated groan of annoyance. "Oh, well look who it is!" He said sarcastically, looking to his left. "James, hi again." He smiled. It was the fakest thing he'd ever done. Turning back to Rogers, he looked him up with an icy gaze. "No, it's okay. He's an asshole too." Tony paused, watching as he introduced himself, a slender dark brow arched over one eye. "Yeah, I know who you are, Eskimo," he replied. Of course he knew who Steven Rogers was, of course. And if he was being frank, he was pissed off that he knew. "I'm sorry, what? What 'little bird'? Is that supposed to be a Cinderella reference or some shit like that?" There was no way he was gonna be helping this blond kid anytime soon.

Everyone on campus knows that including the staff," he said as a way of explanation. Okay so Tony was kind of prickly but he could deal with it. If he needed to take the guy down a couple of pegs he would through he wasn't sure if that was the right approach to take as something screamed be very careful to him and he wasn't sure what as the guy seemed like your average rich kid- arrogant and a bit of douche but that didn't stop Steve from trying. He was old school and raised to be polite. " And Eskimo? Is that really the best nickname you can come up with?" he asked with a raised eyebrow and challenging stare. He then turned to Bucky. "I'm not saying you didn't see it but did he know the kid had depression before he was mean to him? It doesn't excuse being rude but you can't blame someone for being misinformed" he said with a role of his eyes. He liked having all the facts before he judged.

Tony was heavily unamused. "I didn't bully him, if that's what you're thinking," he said airily. Bullying wasn't what he did, he just expressed his opinions on people and ended up being rude and unsettling about a lot of things. "Anyways, no, Eskimo is not the best name. I have: lab rat, Smithsonian Rarity- or just fossil, and iceman." Tony ticked them off on his fingers, which were blackened and dirty and bruised with mechanical repairing from earlier. Several of his fingers were criss-crossed with fine plasters from unfortunate, small, but painful accidents. "Which do you prefer?" He asked smartly, as if he were a receptionist and not some kid busy dealing out titles to someone. "Or Captain of Ultimate Frisbee," he added on, nodding to himself. "Yeah, I like that one the most. Hm." The corner of Tony's mouth twitched slightly in what was the beginning of a smug but quirky, light-hearted smile, and then he looked down at his phone again, drawing his sleeve over the dirty screen to smudge out the annoying fingerprints. "I'd introduce myself, but at this point O'd rather just let you guess."

"I never did," he said lightly deciding to ignore the topic for a while as he didn't know the guy well after all and it wasn't his place to judge. He would withhold judgement until he knew him better- if they ever spoke again at all. Steve turned his nose up at the guys nicknames as some of them were pretty bad- iceman for example. " How about none? None of them have a ring to it," he said pretending to think seriously about it. He let out a light chuckle at the next nickname. "Now that one I could get behind or maybe Capisicle? Someone called me that when I woke up can't remember who now but it has a ring to it," he said with a smile as he could see Tony softening and he wasn't above making fun of himself, if it put someone else at ease. He also did really need to make friends before someone started thinking he was suicidal or something as he tended to avoid every apart from Bucky but even around him, Steve never spent much time as he was too full of regret bout letting him fall and it just brought back old memories of happier times which were hard for him to deal with at the moment. He knew it was worrying his friend since he was acting so cold around him but he really couldn't help it. He had gone from thinking Bucky was dead, to Bucky being an enemy, to Bucky being around again and the guilt sometimes got to be too much. "Okay well your first name is Tony... Buck said as much, plus you look familiar.. Have we worked together?" he asked trying to come up with a last name. The only person he reminded him of was Howard but he was too young to be him but Howard did have a son. "Stark, your last name is Stark. I knew I recognised you. We worked together in over the Ultron and Loki thing right?" he said smiling deciding not to bring Howard up. Strangely enough his last laugh had actually been a really one that reached his eyes.

((Steve may develop a small crush on Tony.... Whoops))

Well, perhaps Tony was in the middle of pinning Steve up as the first wholly sane and... nice being on this entire campus so far. He was beginning to feel a little guilty for rooting through his file with JARVIS, but that was too late now. At the nickname idea of Capsicle, Tony wrinkled his nose. "No," he countered. "Makes you sound like one of those red-and-white medicine pills." That wasn't the reason he hated the name, though, it was because he could link it in with his father. Capsicle made him think of the machine his father had built, and of how proud he was of it. Tony didn't care if his dad was proud- sure, he had the right to be, but at this point it was becoming obsessive and single-centred, which annoyed the Stark kid more than anything else. "Popsicle," he added on with a tiny grin, and that concluded the subject of cold-related nicknames. Tony sighed just a little as Steve spoke his last name, and gave a small shrug. "Yeah- that's me." At the mention of the events of Ultron, however, Tony felt the salove at the back of his throat coagulate and thicken, as if it had been sitting in the hollow of his throat for far too long. Did Steve think him a murderer, just like the others? Also, the nuke affair in New York was to exactly on Tony's PTSD-free list right now; he still was t over it. So he said: "uh huh. Yeah. We worked together on those." He was glad Steve didn't bring up his father into this, or else he would have gladly broken something, be it a nose or his own phone.

Hayley | 40 comments Steve nodded in agreement at that. He did not want to be associated with pills of any kind. He wasn't a treatment for the disease that was corruption or terrorism. "Yeah okay not that.." he said tyring to think of another nickname before he realised he hadn't replied to Bucky. " People don't tend to point those things out," he said in answer to his friends earlier statement. He knew he was coming off as cold but quite frankly he didn't know how to act around him anymore as, as Bucky had reminded many times he wasn't the same person Steve had known and befriended. He was different and had been through so much in the last 70 years. And Steve was trying not to blame himself for what happened to him. " Popsicle? I'm not a an ice lolly you can suck on," he said with an amused grin fully aware of the conations of that sentence and not caring. He was from the 40's not the Victorian Era. " Ahh I thought so. You were really good out there, I've known people older than you who would have broken down facing either of those villains, let alone both nut you kept your cool." he said trying to compliment the other boy. He also wanted him to know, he didn't blame him for what happened as it wasn't his fault Hydra had tricked him into building Ultron. He was only tying to keep the world safe.

Tony found his face heating up in embarrassment when he'd realised what he'd said. Oh. As Steve brought the in he do of the word up to light, Tony's face delved into a light shade of pink. He was about to say something in protest, like "no- I didn't mean it that way-" but he shook it off and let it rest at the sight of Steve's smile. Besides, Steve was kinda good looking. He is good looking, Tony told himself, as if he hadn't just been ogling him as he jogged around the track. Tinted with jealousy, maybe. But Tony could shove that away for the moment- this seemingly political feud was between Tony Stark and Howard Stark alone, not between Steve and Tony. Was it possible he could make himself a friend out of Steve? He was unsure. But... Would it be worth the shot? Maybe. Hopefully. Tony had never been good at this kind of stuff, and as if on impulse, he glanced down at his own chest, where a faint circular embossment could be seen, pressing up against the fabric of his hoodie. At least no light shone through- he didn't want Steve to think of him as freakish because of the thing inside him. Oh well. "I- uh- no. I guess you're not," he managed to sort of sputter out, cheeks still pink. At Steve's compliment, Tony hesitated, unsure wether he ought to take that seriously or not. Held been teased about his braveness like this before, especially after the events with Ultron, and he didn't like it when people shoved the blame into his face- like he didn't blame himself for half of what had happened in the first place. But... Steve's voice was genuine, serious... "Oh." The pink on Tony's cheeks that had just been fading returned. "Thanks, I guess. That's uh... thanks. You did really well too, it was pretty impressive."

((Yah I really hope they don't kill him because NO he's too precious))

Steve noticed Bucky's tears and frowned before seeing the picture in his hand. If there was anything he understood it was the grief of losing loved ones. "Buck, come on but the picture away," he said in gentle tone as he rested a hand on his shoulder. He throw an apologetic glance at Tony before focusing on Bucky, whispering comforting things in his ear. He wasn't sure what memory his friend was lost in but he made sure he had enough space to move away if need be in case Bucky acted out. He kept a hand on Bucky and focused his attention back to Tony smirking at the fact he had gone pink. So he did still have it. It was nice to know. "That's not say I can't be if you want me to be," he said feeling in a wicked mood and his smirk and dark eyes helped pull the image off quite nicely in his opinion. It felt good to flirt again even if it did feel awkward because Bucky was upset and Steve wasn't sure who to be focusing on right now as he didn't want to blow Tony off but he couldn't leave Bucky crying. "And thank you but it was really nothing. I was just me. It was you who figured out Loki's plan and who fought the Hulk when he got out of hand." he replied seriously.

Tony's eyes slid over to the crying Bucky, and although he felt a little bad for getting into a fight with him that other time. Tony shook his head at Steve at the apologetic glance, looking back at his feet, feeling a little awkward. Needless to say, he was glad the distraction was making his blush go away. Once Steve spoke again, Tony's blush returned. Shite, he thought, and did his best not to think about anything remotely sexual involving himself and Steve. Okay, then, perhaps he was bi. He was bi, yeah. Tony swallowed thickly, wondering what his father would say to that should he come out of the closet. Running a hand through his hair again, Tony shrugged as Steve spoke. "Yeah- well. That was just a little thing, I can't be going off taking credit for everything," he mumbled back. His eyes slid over to James, and his eyes widened just a tad. His sister was married at fourteen? Jesus. He guessed it would be pretty hard to leave everything in the past, but Tony didn't know wether he'd feel anything should his own family die. He'd cried buckets and buckets when Edwin Jarvis, his butler when he was a kid, died, but his parents? Well, he'd have to see. Ouch. That was a cruel thought, Tony, he mentally chided himself. He was glad JARVIS couldn't read his mind.

He felt guilty over Bucky's comment over being his only friend as he hadn't exactly been acting like a friend lately. He had been cold and distant which he knew must confuse Bucky now end after the trouble he went to, to make sure he got home in one piece. But he didn't know how to act around him anymore so being polite but cold was the only thing he knew to do. He frowned as Tony brushed off his compliment turning briefly away from Bucky. " Tony it's not just a little thing, if we hadn't figured out Loki' plan things could be a lot different right now and as for the Hulk it was brave of you to fight him and succeed. Not even Thor could have done that," he replied. Steve then decided to focus on the other boys body language a bit more instead of keeping all of his attention on his crying friend and noticed the blush dusting his cheeks. Steve smirked glad to be the cause for the smooth playboy to be blushing. He found it easier to flirt with men than women as he was more comfortable around males.

"Well, I dunno. You make it sound a lot more... heroic than it actually was. We destroyed half the city in that feud," he replied. "And, well. I did what I had to do." Tony shrugged again, but secretly, he was pleased. He was pleased that Steve thought of him in a somewhat high manner; it was also flattering. Very flattering. Tony shuffled a little on his feet, feeling awkward as Steve looked back at him, the blush staying now. Was Steve kinda... hitting on him? No. Impossible; Tony felt like he was way out of Rogers' league, although he'd never admit it, of course. Tony was known to be a playboy; he did one-nighters and never full relationships. Tony had been beginning to think he was aromantic, but by now, he was beginning to think himself a demiromantic, because he wanted to take Steve's face in his hands and lean up and kiss him softly. No, actually. He wanted Steve to do that to him. Quit it, Tony, he thought to himself a little sharply. It wouldn't ever happen; he was an idiot to think he had a chance with the Steve Rogers.

Hayley | 40 comments Steve smiled pleased to see, he had gotten through to Tony a bit. " I'm not I promise and I think we've all destroyed cities in out bid to rid the world of the bad guys. It doesn't mean it was your fault. You stopped Hulk from hurting more people and Banner regretting it. To most people that would be heroism. " he replied looking at Tony earnestly. He also notices Tony's slight awkwardness and wondered why, surely he was used to people hitting on him unless he was trying to avoid Steve because he wasn't interested but the blush said otherwise. Steve decided to try one more comment through this one would come out slightly awkward as he had nothing to go off of. Or maybe he could just ask for a simple meet up through with Bucky crying it didn't seem to be the right time to ask someone out especially someone he had only talked to a handful of occasions. 'Oh screw it' he thought viciously to himself putting his fourties morals back in the fourties. " Did you want to get a coffee with me sometime? We can talk without..." he said trailing off as he looked at Bucky, hoping Tony would get what he meant. "Buck, she won't she would be glad to hear from you. Take it from the guy who also thought you were dead. If I know anything it is you always remember the voices of those you've lost even when you can't remember their faces. So go talk to her before it's too late and you regret never reaching out," he said gently trying to get Bucky to talk to his sister because he knew she could die at anytime given her age.

[Abigail, no one liners, please.]

"Yeah, well-" Tony's hand went to rub the back of his neck and he looked down at his feet for a minute. There was hardly any point in arguing, he supposed, so he shrugged again and looked back at Steve, his face breaking into a small smile. "Thanks," he mumbled, and then turned to Bucky once he spoke. "Jarvis?" He mumbled to his phone.
Understood, Sir.
Tony supposed he kind of felt bad for Bucky; having a sibling getting married that young must've been tough- but like Tony would know. Tony blushed at the proposition from Steve's side, and something inside him fluttered madly. You're an idiot, Tony, he thought a moment later. He's asking you to go get coffee with him, he's not asking you out on a date. Although coffee did sound very romantic, it was somewhat of a cliché... maybe that was good. So he simply nodded. "Yeah, sure. That would be- er, great." He looked back over at James, and then scribbled something in his notebook before tearing out the page and handing it over to Bucky. "That's her number. I had Jarvis search the file," he mumbled. "I- er- kinda owe you. Here."

Hayley | 40 comments Steve was glad Tony had stepped in because he didn't actually know her number. He tried to avoid talking to anyone from the past because it made him long to be with them and made him remember he didn't belong here n this time." See ya, Buck," he replied waving his friend goodbye kind of glad he was gone so he didn't have to put up a pretence of being the same man he used to be. He then turned his whole attention to Tony. "Thanks for that," he said meaning the giving Bucky the number thing as it helped Bucky as well as the added thing of helping Steve out a bit. He knew that bit wasn't important here through- Bucky was. He beamed when Tony said he would go with him. "Would Monday be okay? At say 6 o clock?" he asked trying to remember what time his weekly meeting with Fury ended. He didn't see why he had to visit Fury so often but the man insisted so Steve indulged him. It wasn't like he would have to do it forever as he was planning on leaving through Tony made a compelling reason for him to stay a while.

Tony was sort of surprised that he received that 'thank you' in such a calm tone, but he nodded in response, dark eyes out of focus as he watched Bucky leave the flied to go- er- phone his sister, he guessed. And then another word of thanks from Steve. He turned back towards the blond kid beside him, and smiled a little. "Yeah, no problem," he replied, and was somewhat relieved that Steve looked radiant at the idea that Tony had accepted his little coffee meet-up thing. Now it was just a matter of Tony not being a complete arse and making a fool of himself. Though, admittedly, how bad could it get? They's be sitting opposite of each other over coffee; surely even Tony couldn't screw up that bad- it was just a little meet up. Not a date. Unsurprisingly, Tony was finding that more and more difficult to believe the more Steve talked about it. "Yeah. Monday- yeah. Sounds great," he managed. Okay, keep your calm, Stark. He had nothing on at 6 o'clock in the evening; except for maybe homework and a plan for takeaway pizza and a movie- oh, wait. Didn't people usually have coffee at six in the morning? Uh. Tony's mind was a mess right now. "Wait- in the morning or in the evening?" He asked a little sheepishly, fully aware of the fact he was probably coming across as some sort of idiot.

Hayley | 40 comments Steve smiled at the fact Tony had agreed "Evening? I've to help with one of the younger classes all day," he said with a roll of his eyes not looking forward to it in the slightest. He wasn't some attraction for the younger kids to stare at. He was an actual person not a figure of freedom or whatever other ridiculous name they had come up for him over the years. "Do you have a particular favourite coffee shop? I haven't exactly been around long to know what's good and what isn't. To busy with missions" he said. Over the past few weeks since he had come out of the ice he had dealt with Loki, HYDRA and Ultron as well as finding time to help his old friend became relatively normal again after the brainwashing HYDRA had put him through.
