Going through all my books trying to find some high points! If anyone has some good recommendations I'm open to ideas :)
I'm already looking though my books for ones that will fit. Too bad there's still a whole week before this actually gets going!
Here's an example of the tracking, scoring, 10 tasks etc in this postSometimes "seeing it" is better than me trying to explain it lol.
Cathie I hadn't either. I'd looked up some in Wikipedia to get the synopsis so I could hash out some task ideas. I have an ancient copy of Grimm's tales and I just opened it up and saw that one and it was unique enough and flexible enough that I could work with it.

*Note* not all books on all the lists are re-tellings.
Cathie wrote: "Hi everyone :-).Still trying to figure everything out. I've never heard of "The Turnip"?"
I read it as the Enormous Turnip when I was a kid and was one of my favourites that and the Bremen Town Musicians Band and Snow White and Rose Red.
Okay. I have a couple of books picked out that will give us points.
Let me know if I got it wrong.

When we have a new challenge like this launched it takes the questions in order to work the kinks out and find any holes. In order to keep things simplified I'm going to change the ruling on re-tellings, modern tales, etc.
IF IT'S BEEN SHELVED AT LEAST 5 TIMES AS A RE-TELLING OR FAIRY TALE IT'LL COUNT TOWARDS THE FTR BONUS.
IF IT'S ON A FAIRY TALE LISTOPIA I'LL TAKE IT
SO THIS WILL MAKE ROMEO& JULIET AND WIZARD OF OZ COUNT SINCE THEY'VE BEEN SHELVED MULTIPLE TIMES.
And I'm not shouting that just making it visible :)
Came across a good book for this - Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier

Me, too. I might be able to get my husband to do a spreadsheet for us, but I'm hoping one of our teammates has this valuable knowledge. Anyone?

I can do spreadsheets, so I don't mind doing it if no-one else wants to? If anyone wants to give me a hand though, that would be great.
I am happy to help to track the books and points and if you have an idiots guide to the spreadsheet I will try.

I might try and find that anthology! I like the sound of it :)
I can co-captain, but I'm semi-new to this type of game and I'm worried I may not have everything straight lol
Grace and Jacki, if you like, I can get the spreadsheet organised and then both of you could help out keeping it up to date? I am in the UK so my timezone is different to quite a few players so it is always good to share with people from the US as I'm often asleep when things are happening!
NancyHelen I am in the UK too :) I am happy to try. I can gather info in tracking posts if that helps.
Jacki, I think all of us are semi-new here. I know that I don't have everything straight :) I'm still trying to figure out the Author's Initials thingy.
OK everyone, I have set the spreadsheet up here:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
Hopefully all of my formulas will work automatically! That's the plan anyway, but the proof will be in the using of it. I'll keep it updated, but do keep an eye on it in case I miss anything.
When you post your books up, if you could let me know the page numbers as I have set the spreadsheet up to automatically add the appropriate points when I plug in how many pages the book has. It saves us having to go back and check the points each time and probably makes it easier to post your books.
If you can think of anything else that will improve the spreadsheet, let me know...
Hey, everyone. I'm patting myself on the back. I convinced my IRL book club to read
for our next meeting on the 25th. I just checked. It will get points for Author's Initials!

NancyHelen I requested access to the spreadsheet. Lanelle I just check the initials against that list which is very useful. I have a couple more that work for the task and all bonus points but not the mini.
short at 175 pgs
320 pgs

Another one with good points
this is the same book but has less obvious white on cover, just snowflakes but shows all the right shelves.
Although it says 3 in series, they seem to be just connected by the fairytale theme, they are stand alone stories.
Another (non-fairy tale) one:
It'll fit the task, plus gets AI and TNB points, and 35 PP points.
I'm trying to find some options from different genres and so far that seems like one of the best non-fairy tale ones I've found!

NancyHelen, I've requested access to the spreadsheet. I'm not around much this week because I'm frantically memorizing Italian for a light opera I'm singing in the weekend, but I'm willing to help out as needed once life gets back to normal when the challenge starts.
Jacki and Theo, I have given you both edit access as well.I think the easiest for everyone will be to post your books here in this thread and one or two of us can then update the spreadsheet. But if everyone keeps an eye on it, just to make sure that nothing gets missed, then we should all be good.
Really looking forward to getting started!
