how much did we aim to read per 2/16?

how about we aim for 10 chapters? usually I would be able to read this in one sitting but I literally just got sick with a pounding headache that's not going away and dizziness. o wanna rake it easy in case my head can't take all the reading.

well, 10 chapters in and I'm getting ready to keep going.

I'm surprised by the other topics brought up in this book.

Oh no. I think I just got a glimpse of where this book is going and why

I got up to chapter 9 yesterday before my head couldn't take it anymore. I didn't read today b/c of my head again. Before I post anything about what I read, is it possible for you to tell me how to add the "View spoiler"? I don;t know how to do it.

I'm on chapter 19, so as long as you aren't farther then me, we should be good to discuss

Here's my thoughts. They're doozies!

First I can't believe that B is a girl!

Second I hate her father. I don't know about you but I found myself wishing he would die and grisly painful death and I am still hoping that will happen.

I also didn't really like B, especially with her own racism that she desperately wants to conceal. She' not fooling me. I washed my hands of her when she threw Tyler to the zombies. She kept on saying my dad made me a killer but I disagree. Nobody can make you kill anyone. People can tell you to do it, but ultimately is your choice. B needs to start blaming herself for her actions and not her father. I have no sympathy for her and she got what she deserved. I loved the ending when Tyler ripped her heart out and ate it in front of her. I actually cheered. Now only for her dad, lol.

I don't know about you but the killer baby nightmare freaked me out.

What I really wanna know is who those mutants are and if their zombies too. Also I wanna know how B's principal held on to her ability of speech and thought. Plus who is the owl man and why is he interested in B's baby dream?

I'm going to start reading the second book now because I gotta finish it this month for another challenge. Let me know whenever you read it so we can discuss what happens! (hide spoiler)]

I'm so sorry you still aren't feeling well :( I can't believe you made it through the book still sick. Kudos for pushing through even though I'm sure it wasn't as enjoyable with a pounding head!

YES! I agree with everything you said. B sucked! and I can't believe she was a girl. I hate her less for punching that girl in the beginning - but

I just couldn't figure out why they hid that fact from us. why did it matter if she was a girl or a boy. I didn't care either way. Still makes her a murderer (for killing Tyler!) and it still makes her a bigot and a racist.

The principal...when she said something about being full. ugh, that was so awful. I have no idea what's going to happen now!

I think I just laughed at the end. LOL I was so glad he got to kill her. Still don't know what the inoculation/C shaped mark from the shot is from

and the gross guys with the yellow gross skin and hoodies stealing babies - yeah, who the heck are they?!?!

is book 2 from someone else's perspective (since B is dead?)

Oh, and I like to think her Dad didn't make it but died a horrible horrible death when the other kids threw him to the zombies to save themselves! LOL :D

well from the synopsis of book 2 it says that some zombies' brain still works. I think that the shot B got when she was little was like a vaccine for this situation. like someone knew this would happen so they made the shot so that some zombies can keep thinking like a human. that's why the shot was experimental and never released to the public. that's my theory anyway

i think tha fact that B was a girl was hidden bc she's a blatant racist and usually, at least in my experience, most outright bigots are male. when its finally revealed that she's a girl it just makes her previous and future action so much more horrible. also I think since her father is such a racist its not much of a leap to say he's a sexist too. he probably wanted a boy and probably made it known he was disappointed when B was a girl that she made herself look like a boy. she did do everything to please her father so why not become a boy of that's what he wanted.

hmm, that one was pretty odd. They didn't answer really any of our questions - introduced a whole new cast of people only to kill pretty much all of them off.

and the clown with the mutants....that's just weird. lol

Oh man the clown was freaky. I hate clowns as it is but reading about that clown scared the hell outta me.

I mean it was an ok book but I don't really see the reason as to why it was written besides to introduce the fact that some zombies can reactivate their brain. The ending was good though~ lots of action. I didn't like what happened to the human kid at the end and was glad when the zombies who ate him died.

Yeah Im gonna read the next book. Darren Shan is one of my favorite authors so I read mostly everything he writes. Maybe the next book will be better. I'll probably finish the whole series as the books come out

Ok but I don't think it came out yet. I think it comes out in April. I hope the copy I get doesn't have the clown. It will totally creep me out.
