Blue Moon Rising
question
Should I read these ones first?

I want to start reading the Forest Kingdom saga, but just found out it's a companion for the Hawk And Fisher series. Do I have to read the H&F series first, or are these ones first? Or is the ordered mixed up somehow? Any help would be highly appreciated.
The order is mixed up somehow.
Blue Moon Rising was the first book.
Then - as I understand it - there are three sets of books:
- Hawk and Fisher
- the next two Forest Kingdom novels
- the last two Forest Kingdom novels.
The H&F novels take characters from Blue Moon Rising, but that's essentially an easter egg for fans - they're very different books and the link isn't made explicit. At least not at first - I've only read the first few books, so maybe it gets more explicit later on.
The next two Forest Kingdom novels, I believe, are sequels to Blue Moon Rising in the sense of having the same setting, but a different cast of characters.
Then the last two Forest Kingdom novels have the Hawk and Fisher characters return to the Forest Kingdom setting. These are therefore sequels to both Blue Moon Rising and the Hawk and Fisher novels, plus they are set after the other Forest Kingdom novels so I imagine they tie in with events in those as well.
If anyone can correct me on this, please do!
But the short version is: Blue Moon Rising comes first. You don't need to read it to understand the Hawk and Fisher books. But it might be helpful to read some or all of the H&F novels (the early ones at least are quite episodic) before you reach the last two Forest Kingdom novels. that shouldn't be hard - they're short and light.
