Oliver (view spoiler)[it has to be so hard what he is going through right now. He has been away for 10 years and now being back he is the "celebrity" in the town. I also wonder what he thinks about the whole situation. What did his father tell him when he took him? I just wonder if he told him something along the lines that his mother didn't want him anymore. I imagine his dad told him something to explain why he was not going back to his moms place. It would be a tough transition. (hide spoiler)]

And he's the only one that she's told about the college that she applied to, which shows that she really trusts him. It seems like spending time with his family is the thing that is most difficult for him, especially his mom, though he does seem to like the twins. Also, him doing the voices is pretty adorable. Oliver (view spoiler)[I suspected that the father probably told him that his mom left them and didn't want him anymore. What an awful thing to do to your child to make them feel unwanted. Even though he now knows it was a lie I can imagine that he still feels some resentment towards his mom and the feeling of abandonment know that he is away from his father. (hide spoiler)]

Oliver (view spoiler)[it's nice that the reason he returned home was voluntarily taking a fingerprint test. It would be hard to find out after all these years that you father lied to you. You go from hating your parent because you thought you were unwanted to finding out that you were taken away. That fight with his mom was rough, but I think he needed to get things off his chest. I am glad that the father called the cops in himself and is ready to face the punishment that he deserves. (hide spoiler)]

Emmy (view spoiler)[I wish she was more upfront with her parents about surfing and about the college she applied to. She was so overprotected that she felt the need to hide so much from them, but a little more honesty would have done the situation good. The parents had good intentions but they acted so much out of fear. (hide spoiler)]

This was a sweet book, but at the same time heartbreaking. Really showing how a kidnapping affects everyone involved.

Wednesday sounds good! I should be reading A TON these next few weeks. (except for Aug. 3-9 since I have bible camp)

Our bathroom is being TOTALLY demolished and remodeled and it takes an entire month to do. People will be in our house constantly and it's gonna be LOUD in here so hopefully I can go outside and read tons!

It was AWESOME!! We saw the most interesting partial Bibles, the very first Bible written & put together in its entirety, the Bible in microfiche that went to the moon, tablets that had messages on them and they were maybe 2-3 inches in height. They said there are about 400,000 relics in all & where we went had only about 1% of them. And we spent about 3 hours there...21 of us, 5 adults and 16 kids. It was amazing!!!

I already started it today and I am 15 chapters in.

(view spoiler)[ So far I love it, it is easy to read, fast-paced and the characters are really sweet and it feels real. I find the friendship (that is again forming between Emmy & Oliver) very adorable, I guess this is going to be more of a relationship though. I would be okay if it would just stay a friendship.
I get what Oliver is talking about that "coming home feels like being kidnapped all over again". I was kind of expecting this, as he hasn't been kidnapped by some random guy. It was his father. It doesn't make the situation any better but I understand why Oliver feels that way. He had a relationship to his father already and he trusted him and believed what he said. Of course it is weird to find out that you've been kidnapped this way. And then you move back to a place where everybody knows you, but you don't know anybody there. Maybe from memories but not enough to feel connected to these people. And then they're all acting weird around you... except for Emmy somehow. But she is being stopped by every other person around her, saying she should give him "space". But her acting all natural around Oliver makes him feel more "normal". Like he is not the kidnapped famous kid from ten years ago.

This is a very interesting topic tbh and I am looking forward to see how this story is going to develop and end. (hide spoiler)]

Hey Vicki, the funniest thing happened to me! So I was at the library picking up my holds, and I saw this book on somebody else's pile! I was so jealous of them, and I almost just grabbed it off and pretended it was mine. But LOL they probably would've missed it.
