1) What's your name? Where do you blog?
2) What genres do you write?
3) Are you currently writing anything?
4) Why do you write?
-------
My name is Jon and I blog at Bookish Antics, a blog with a focus on anything YA. I don't really have a genre of choice for my writing projects, rather I just write a project I feel I can invest myself in. I'm currently working on a coming-of-age slasher book with my friend Shelly as well as a steampunk retelling of one of my favorite stories. I write because I like being in control of my stories, don't believe in happily ever afters and like making readers emotional.

Hi Jon!

I'm Kat and I blog over at Cuddlebuggery!
I write different breeds of fantasy. There's always fantastical elements in my books.
I am currently writing a book about a witch who breaks all the rules.
Why do I write?! WHY DO I WRITE?! Life would be horrible if I didn't.

message 3: by Mary-Allyn (new)

Mary-Allyn | 3 comments I'm MA. I blog with Jon over at Bookish Antics. I write YA fantasy and adventure type things mostly. Anything that generally can't happen in real life. I write because I have so many stories and words in my brain and in my blood that if I didn't write, I'd probably break.

Steph O'Neil (fakesteph) | 1 comments I'm Steph and I blog at thefakesteph.com.
Like Jon, I write what I feel I can invest in, though I started in contemporary and even when I branch out to fantasy or scifi, it's embedded in our real world. I'm about to start querying a light sci-fi YA, and doing nano with some other bool bloggers in July.
I write... lord I don't know. Sometimes I think it would be easier if I didn't, but it's too much fun. I didn't write much this past year (first year teaching high school) but I've been writing nonstop the past two weeks and it's like my soul was starving for it.

message 5: by Sherna (new)

Sherna (bookwormswiftie) | 1 comments Hey guys! I'm Sherna and I own the blog, Sherna's Bookworm Diary (obviously). I've tried writing before (when I was 15), some YA Contemporary romance, but I haven't finished anything since I'm only 17 and college takes up so much of my time aside from blogging. So, right now I'm not writing anything. I really want to, though, because I'm really inspired by what other authors say that aspiring ones should just keep on writing even if no one will read it. Writing, like reading, is my stress outlet most of the time. That's why I write.

message 6: by Tiff (new)

Tiff (mostlyyalit) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Tiff, and I blog at Mostly YA Lit
Right now, it looks like I only write contemporary YA, although I have a few ideas for adult contemporary. I'm currently working on two YA contemporaries - they're really in the early stages so I don't know how much I can talk about them yet.
I love writing and I'm a story lover, whether that's fiction or TV or film, I've always been into stories. I've gotten out of the habit of writing fiction because blogging is getting in the way. Hoping this group helps me with that!

message 7: by Erleen (new)

Erleen Alvarez (musapoetica) | 1 comments I'm Erleen, the blogger behind Books For YA! I'm in the process of finding what genre I'm good at, right now. But, I'm mostly drawn to scifi and fantasy. Tomorrow, I'll start writing my 2nd WIP which is about a reawakened phoenix in the 21st century, for Camp Nanowrimo. I write because I like creating worlds where readers, like me, can escape to.

message 8: by Holly (new)

Holly (skizzles22hju) | 1 comments Hey guys, I'm Holly and I blog at The Fox's Hideaway! I write in different categories (YA, NA, Adult) and genres, but especially contemporary and fantasy. Speaking of, I'm currently writing a fantasy standalone that is inspired by Rapunzel.

"Why do I write?" Because if I didn't, I don't know what I'd do. I can't imagine not being able to write, or not wanting to. And I love telling stories, though I've never finished one and that is what I'm trying to do this summer. So I'm hoping joining this group will help with that. :)

message 9: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany (tiffyofthemonts) I'm Tiffany! I blog at Bookplates for Brunch.

I don't know if I'm committed to a genre, but I like to write about people and how they interact with each other. Realistic fiction, if I had to pick.

I am currently loosely working on 3 projects, and by "working on," I mean I'm mostly being bullied by them. My main project is about a girl who rediscovers family & what that really means.

I write because I can't help it. Actually, I came across this line from a Mary Oliver poem recently, so this is my new reason for writing: "Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it."

message 10: by Tawni (last edited Jun 30, 2015 09:11AM) (new)

Tawni Winns | 1 comments Hi there, I'm Tawni I blog at tawniwinns.wordpress.com. I mostly write poetry and prose. I'm not currently working on a book or anything, I just post on my blog or instagram (@t_winns) whenever the mood strikes.

I write because it is as natural to me as breathing.

message 11: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3 comments Hi! I'm Jessica and I'm here because I'm really good at Twitter stalking Kat Kennedy while I'm at work (sorry Kat!) ;)

I blog at Read My Breath Away, though somewhat intermittently lately -- university + travel = not much time for writing of any kind -- but I'm always up to chat YA regardless. I'm on Twitter more regularly -- @MsJessR.

I write in a few different genres in YA, mostly historical fiction and fantasy, though of course I'm currently knee-deep in a project that is neither of those but actually a contemp f/f YA romance. I'm also plotting another contemp (go figure) with a friend of mine inspired by our recent travel adventure together.

I write because... well, I suppose because it's something I've always done. I've been making up stories since I was little (though those will never see the light of day), so it seems natural that I'd still be doing it now!

message 12: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (stewartry) Hi - I'm Tracey; I blog at Stewartry, mostly book reviews and random other things. (The url comes from a line from "Shall We Dance": "I refuse to be a bowl in a gold of fish.") When I write things other than book reviews I write fantasy; I am currently thinking about considering the idea of maybe picking up the book I've been working on for way too long, what I like to call a fantasy of manners. I started the book because there were these characters having conversations in my head and it seemed like a good idea to explore that. I stopped writing because they shut up... They seem to be coming back, so maybe I can accomplish something sometime soon.

message 13: by Leann (last edited Jun 30, 2015 11:41AM) (new)

Leann (likelyleann) | 3 comments Hi everyone! I'm Lea, from YA Book Queen. I write mostly YA / NA, and I like to mix up genres when possible. I'm currently working on a YA fantasy/sci-fi (I'm rewriting an old story and hoping to get it right this time) and starting an upper-YA/NA contemporary/mystery.

I write because I love to explore all the crazy/weird stories and characters that are hanging out in my head. Writing can be completely frustrating and difficult, but it's also what keeps me sane. It's fun to watch a story come together, and know you were the one who created it.

message 14: by Christina (new)

Christina Nørgård Lauritsen | 2 comments Hey guys!
Names Christina, I don't blog and at the moment i don't write as i am on sick leave from school and everything, which is supposed to be a perfect time to write. So far i've just jotted down a few ideas, very, very, veeeeery short stories, ideas and such. It's all in my head, but I'm terrified of taking the steps to type the first words of the story! :P so for now it's just brainstorming.
SO at the moment it's just a bunch of pep-talk to myself.
Also, hopefully you'll excuse any grammar errors as i am 100% danish, and my second language is english :P
I write/want to write, because i have (in my own opinion and head) this really messed up universe in my head just waiting to get out there, and i'm dying to let it loose one day :D

Also, my preffered genres would have to be fantasy, paranormal romance, mostly anything urban fantasy.
But besides those, i like to read few fantasy eroticas and so on!

so, um, yeah.. Nice to meet you all! ^^

message 16: by Julia (last edited Jul 03, 2015 01:07AM) (new)

Julia Hello!

1) I'm Julia and I blog over at The Midnight Hobbyist, which isn't a book blog, but I sometimes feature books on my #FeatureFriday posts. I also beta-read.

2&3) I'm currently working on a NA/A romance (kind of mixed age, not quite sure which it will wind up being yet), a YA Sci-fi...thing, and a fantasy that I have the fantasy of making some progress on before I die.

4) I write because I want to know what else happens in the stories in my head, but I have to get out what's already in there to find out. I also want to know what it feels like to complete a full-length MS.

Erica | 2 comments Hi everyone! I'm Erica and I blog over at http://escapeunderthecover.blogspot.com/

I mostly read and write YA romance and I'm currently working on a story for Camp NaNoWriMo. I'm also a Harry Potter fanfiction writer.

Why do I write, because I love it. I love writing and reading and the thought of sharing my ideas with the world is absolutely amazing to me. I write because it's who I am.

Julie (goodreadscomj-watanabe) | 1 comments Hi. I'm Julie and I blog at Mrs Typewritten Pages also known as juliewatanabe.com. So if you know anyone starting college and who needs a little information on what to expect, send them my way. I need the audience. Haha.

I write women's fiction because I live in my own world, which is fine by me because everyone knows me there.
