As June is nearly over, tell us about your top three books so far.

message 3: by Pink (new)

Pink I have two standout books so far this year:
Lady Chatterley's Lover
Giovanni's Room

Many books would be tied for third place, but I'll give it to:
Do No Harm: Stories of Life, Death and Brain Surgery

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments Just top 3? That is so mean!

1. Stone Hotel: Poems From Prison
2. Crow Country
3. Rubberman's Cage

Rubberman's cage has been the biggest surprise of the year for me, was expecting just a mediocre novel but it was fantastic.

It was never going to be easy Cathy. Hope you're well at the moment

message 16: by Cathy (new)

Cathy | 553 comments It certainly isn't, Paul! I could have chosen twice as many. Am well, thank you, but have been finding it a struggle to keep on top of updating and posting reviews. Summer holidays are here though so hope to catch up a bit.

Hope you're well too.

That's hard! I have only given one book five stars this year it seems, which is A Song for Issy Bradley

I also really have enjoyed:

The Climb by Chris Froome and
I am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes

But I have several that probably are equal to those two.

message 21: by Beatriz (new)

Beatriz Pipkin | 24 comments So far my three favorites this year:
"The Miniaturist"
"On Human Bondage"
All The Light We Cannot See"
And I have more that I rated 5 stars

Series' maybe - Manda Scott's 'Boudica' and 'Rome' series' for starters. Jan Guillou's 'Jerusalem' trilogy.

Singles - Spirit House, Brick Lane and Dances with Wolves

message 24: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (ylisa7) | 26 comments Great picks so far everyone. Thanks for the new books I added to my ever growing TR list, lol.

I've had a very good book year so picking 3 is kind of tough. I'll go for these:
1. The Martian
2. The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics
3. Merchants of Doubt: How a Handful of Scientists Obscured the Truth on Issues from Tobacco Smoke to Global Warming

My top three are the three 1Q84 books by Haruki Murakami. I read them in January and am still reflecting on them now.

If I could add a fourth it would be Donna Tartt "The Goldfinch"

message 27: by Pat (new)

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments Oh. I forgot the Goldfinch. Oh dear. Decisions

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

It was a good read, wasn't it Pat?

message 29: by Pat (new)

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments Yes it was.
