After pushing for 2 months to get Out of the Silent Planet, I'm more than happy to sit back for August's recommendation and see what other people want to read.
Mogworld by Yahtzee Croshaw sometimes the "hero" is really just a reanimated zombie trying to die. His boss Lord Deadgrave works hard to keep his reanimated zombie employees busy and it's a fun look at gaming worlds. I really enjoy the book but don't just take my word for it....READING RAIN BOWWWWWWWWWW
H.G. Wells Secret agent...see your fav writers in a war to keep alien and time travel tech out of the wrong hands. http://alexshvartsman.com/2015/07/04/... and you can find the author on twitter he's real nice Alex Shvartsman @AShvartsman

I would like to nominate one of my favorite books/series of all time: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. While the movie adaptation was rather hit and miss, the book is a great mashup of sci-fi and satire of modern life. Not to mention that it's hysterical.
I hate to mention this awhile I'm getting ready to make my own recommendation, but Armada is a new release and I know many members rely on the library or even second books. I'm hesitant to have books that may leave some of cash strapped members out. However, I will happily read it if it gets picked.
I nominate Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Think Canterbury tales in space. Miniseries getting ready to be made headed up Bradley Rocket Cooper.
On the world called Hyperion, beyond the law of the Hegemony of Man, there waits the creature called the Shrike. There are those who worship it. There are those who fear it. And there are those who have vowed to destroy it. In the Valley of the Time Tombs, where huge, brooding structures move backward through time, the Shrike waits for them all. On the eve of Armageddon, with the entire galaxy at war, seven pilgrims set forth on a final voyage to Hyperion seeking the answers to the unsolved riddles of their lives. Each carries a desperate hope--and a terrible secret. And one may hold the fate of humanity in his hands.

I love Hitchhiker's Guide. It should be required reading for geeks. Hyperion sounds really cool. So does that HG Wells Secret Agent one. It seems like whatever gets picked this month, I'm going to enjoy it.
I would like to nominate Enemies & Allies. It's a great take on Superman and Batman from the 50's. You really get to see how their friendship starts.
