Spring 2013 Music Shebang - Sign up here! (open thru Feb. 21)
I'll update the list to include you, Jim. An all-Dutch disk sounds like an a great idea, Janine. I look forward to it. (Maar geen Frans Bauer liedjes alsjeblieft...)
Have fun, guys! I'm sitting this one out since I still have only gotten to listen to two from the last round.
You'll be missed, Sarah, but it sounds like you've got a lot going on right now. I hope you're able to find some time to relax and unwind a little amid all the work and excitement.Susan are you in for this round? Got the CD burner up and running?
I haven't checked it yet. I will find out within the next few days.Oh man, Sarah Pi. :( All of what Jonathan said. :)
Yes, that sounds fair, Misha. Would a sign-up deadline of one week from today--that is to say, Thursday, the 21st of February--work with your packing/moving schedule? If not, what would be your preference?
Because Heidi loves anything French: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih5i8l...This is one of my favourite songs that is going to be on my Dutch shebang.
Also, are there any rules, regulations, tips or other tidbits that I might need to be aware of for my first ever Shebang?
Yes, as Janine said, there's a Shebang FAQ thread: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6...If you have any questions that aren't addressed there, feel free to ask.
Thanks, Janine and Jonathan! I read that thread several months ago and could only remember a few things from it. I am slightly nervous about getting the return postage correct. Also, I did not remember the part about cd sleeves and bought skinny jewel cases - oops! I will go get the sleeves. Is there a certain number of songs that I should try to stick to? It seems from the last Shebang as though the magic number is around twenty songs.

I have a playlist for my shebang! Wheeeeee! Or an idea, and about 20 to 25 songs I can play with.
There is a rule about skinny jewel cases? Bugger! :(

I don't remember a rule about skinny jewel cases. I know I've gotten shebangs in those before. I use sleeves 'cause I'm cheap.
This is all very helpful information, everybody. I have been playing with my playlist and it is taking a surprising turn from what I had originally thought I might do. Exciting stuff!
My shebang came out of left field too. I was totally clueless what to do this time round. Last night I was listening to some music at random when an idea jumped out at me. This is going to be a lot of fun. But totally dodgy. I love it. :)
It will come to you, I am sure. :)
It's been so stinking hot here for the last week, so I'm feeling inspired to do a summer-y theme of some sort. I also figure it will be summer for most of you when the discs arrive...

I have two different Shebangs created so far. I am very much wringing my hands over including or omitting or just head combusting over it all.
And don't tell me to get a life. I already tried that.
I listened to my list this morning! OHMYGAWD! It is so bad, I love it!
I just read 16 pages worth of a Spring Shebang that had a due date of April 1st from 2009. It was informative and funny.
Here is the link. Heidi, your memory is crazy good! Your cover art sounded so detailed in thought and process. It was your first Shebang. It was cool for me to stumble upon that particular one since I could have easily picked one where everybody was a veteran to the process.http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
OMG! I think I have finalized my shebang! It might surprise some of you. Mr. D might like only one song on it. Little and I really dig it!I am so EXCITED!
Maybe Susan's shebang is for teeny tots.

Judging by the comments in the Fall 2012 Shebang thread, it sounds like most people would like to keep an open theme, which seems like a good idea to me too. That said, several good themes have already been mentioned as possibilities to consider, including Clark's "loud and fast" and Emily's youthful angst. It being spring, I think I might do love and happiness, or love and heartbreak, depending on my mood and outlook when selecting the songs.
